Morning!

We went out yesterday. My head hurts. Shhhhhhh! 😂

You could do the TV licence online, Mrs! Much easier. 😁 Though there's no coffee shop visit that way. 😂

I'm hoping the sunny days we're having over the next week will keep the house warm enough to avoid the heating. It's only when it's drab and gloomy that we have to put the heating on early! I will though, if necessary.

Ooh. Yule log! I'll see if DD wants that instead of a hot chocolate sponge instead. Though I bought 4 little pudding basins, so it would be a shame if we didn't all get one. 😂

Mouse is called Mouse, like Teddy. There's a matching one called Other Mouse too. 😂😂😂

We don't do the elf. Sod that malarkey!

Mrs that's great for the cholesterol.

Woolly the baseline ones will be back today but the coeliacs is 7-10 days

I HATE being in a hotel with my two dc!

NerosFiddle · 10/09/2019 13:45

We don't do elf and won't be doing it either. I don't actually understand what it is. Something about making a mess.

I've had the heating on today and a hot water bottle on the go. The car says 12 degrees but definitely feels colder.

I'm exhausted for some reason. I think I'll ask for a full nights sleep for my birthday present in October.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2019 17:28

The elf is apparently Santa's spy. Sod that one!

WreckTangled · 10/09/2019 18:05

I don't like the elf. Creepy little fucker

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2019 19:14

Yep, Wreck. I agree!

My problem now I am back at work is having the energy to stitch in the evenings but will give it a good go tomorrow.

Just had a note from nursery that it's a Roald Dahl dress up day on Friday argh! This is a load of 3 year olds who haven't read Roald Dahl Grin

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2019 21:46

Just send them in old clothes and don't brush their hair, Emrys - voila! The Twits! Grin

It's been 21 degrees here today - I didn't even need my cardigan on!

We also do not do the elf. I bought a cheap one purely to annoy my sister by sending her pictures of his creepy little fucker face every day Grin. She has no Christmas spirit, so don't be feeling sorry for her!

When DS was 2.5, the elves brought him a hamper on 1 December with pyjamas, a Christmas book, chocolate coins and an advent calendar. He was terrified they had been in his bedroom, and I had to sleep with him in case they came back. So, no elves in the Firefly household!

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2019 22:26

I love a cross stitch session in the evening! It's the only time I have as I won't do it with the kids nearby as they want to 'help'.

Firefly, our two hate the idea of elves / Santa in their room too. Xmas Grin

I've almost done 1/3 of the sampler now. Getting there!

Wow fluffy you are on it! Right tonight I am going to start on the third decoration!

Christmas planning is coming along. ILs will be coming on the 20th December. The 21st is our wedding anniversary so they will babysit Grin Then we will do a mini Christmas on the 22nd. Christmas itself will just be the 3 of us so will do our buffet idea again :)

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 07:15

Ah, Emrys, I'm glad others also do a buffet. We love doing it like that! I'm glad the kids have decided they want to do it again too. Xmas Grin

Did you show us the second decoration? I only remember seeing one! This sampler is quite straight forward, hence being able to zoom along. Your decorations have far more stitches in them! My next Christmas project is more complicated (I've two more to get done!).

It sounds like your plans are coming on. What're everybody else's plans looking like?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/09/2019 07:26

I don't have any plans! Am trying to slowly do some shopping. I could buy dd sooooooo much but really struggle with the older relatives in my family. I have a big family and it's expensive.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 08:25

I thought you were away, Wreck?

Why don't you just say no regarding the presents? You need to stand firm. Just say we're not doing presents other than for children this year. Please do the same for us, or don't buy for us; we don't be offended.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/09/2019 08:32

We're away Monday-Friday but will be at my aunts at the weekend. I just can't do that with my family me and my sisters are the only 'children' in the family. Last year I tried to offer food for lunch instead of gifts and was told to just get them a box of matchmakers each but that's so lame 😅 I can afford £10 each on them it's just the stress of finding something especially when they can all buy anything they want anyway. Me and my sisters try to get something from all of us which lightens the load somewhat. Also, selfishly, they give us quite a bit of money for Christmas and I don't want to ask them to stop BlushBlush

WreckTangled · 11/09/2019 11:13

Well ds' bloods are back. All normal apart from WBC which is low so she's getting advice from paediatrics. Sensible medical knowledgeable me says nothing to worry about but the mum in me is googling like mad and only coming up with awful things Grin

blacksmiths09 · 11/09/2019 12:07

Just a heads-up people.......

Sony CHRISTMAS movies have started yesterday on channel 319!

I believe that’s probably the earliest that a Christmas film channel has ever started?!? I’m a huge fan of Movies24 that changes to Christmas24 as it gets closer!

Last night at 9.00pm Sony Christmas was showing Christmas with the Kranks. One of my all-time favourites 👍🏻

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 13:09

Ooh. Will have to see if that's on Freeview.

When will you hear, Wreck? Of course you're going to worry; it would be odd if you didn't.

Oops. Forgot! Xmas Blush

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/09/2019 13:16

I don't know. I suppose if it was important she would have phoned them rather than emailed/written. Stressful though because the one thing that comes up is leukaemia which is obviously everyone's worst nightmare

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 13:17

I guessed you were thinking about that. It can just mean a relatively innocuous infection too though. Flowers

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/09/2019 13:30

We have a lot of autoimmune in the family so it's more likely something to do with that, if anything. Also all other bloods were fine so that's good

CrazyBaubles · 11/09/2019 20:27

Wreck much easier said than done but step away from google. If there's one with doctors don't mess with, it's children's health. If they were even slightly worried they would have called you back in by now.

Fluffy do you do presents for wider family?
We've toyed with saying we won't bother but it's awkward because we don't have children so I think people feel they need to buy us something.
My parents spend a fortune on my nephews and niece but very little on my sister but they even that out with me.
FIL & SMIL are very strict about their spending being fair so they would be for us no matter what.
So far, we've only managed to decrease present buying by 2 people (dsis can't afford to reciprocate and my 1 cousin never buys anything for anyone so we just stopped for her).

Anyway, your cross stitch looks good. I must get started on mine but I've had headaches / migraines the last few days which are effecting my sight 🙄
I have managed to crochet 2 and a half snowflakes though!

PS have you seen how far down the Christmas section this thread is getting? Means people are starting to plan 🧐 - its going to be here before we know it
Xmas Smile

FireflyGirl · 11/09/2019 21:20

I noticed that the board was starting to get busier as well, Crazy. Once the kids go back, everyone's minds start to turn to Christmas Grin

We're just way ahead of them!

My family is huge, so we never even did presents for the kids when I was younger. I buy for one of my cousins' kids as we see them regularly, then only each other, DS and my nephew, my parents and my friends' kids. And just token gifts for DSis and DBIL.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 22:42

No, Crazy. My family is massive and we aren't close (my dad is one of 12, I have 35+ cousins on that side alone). I buy for my parents, my niece and nephew, DH's nieces x 3, our step-nephew, and our kids. Plus each other. DH's side of the family do a Secret Santa, but we opted out of that a few years ago.

This board is getting so busy. I love it!
