OK so I am quite particular about how i like our home.. Clothes to be worn just once, towels used once. Hoover and polish daily etc etc.
But before Xmas, birthdays etc I do a ridiculous deep clean.

Today I have...
washed every door, frame and skirting.
All 4 beds washed Inc hoovering mattresses and flipping over.
Big clear out of toys and clothes. Re arranged all dvds.
Disinfected all floors and surfaces. Cleaned out every kitchen cupboard and sorted the food.. Managed to run a load to food bank drop off point.
2 baskets of ironing.
Scrubbed bathroom.
Collected gifts for kids from storage and re hidden at home.
Defrosed freezer and all washed out.

Then went out to dinner.. Wasn't making a mess after that lol.

Home bath baby, had a soak. Others showered then dp just re did bathroom.
Washing machine on now for the towels.

I actually feel ready for Xmas.

OK reading back I'm crazy but I can't rwalx unless everything is done.

I'm so glad I'm able to relax without doing all that shit! Fair play to you, it sounds horrendous.

LittleAlbatross · 23/12/2018 22:19

Blimey! I thought I was doing well having done four loads of laundry and run the hoover round Grin

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:21

Haha the stupid thing is my home is clean and tidy every night.. Not so much in day with a baby and teen. But I do it all every night. . My I laws today were like what? Why?..

OP posts:
Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:22

I am knackered I must admit..

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 23/12/2018 22:23

I am astonished that anyone can get all that done in one day !

dementedma · 23/12/2018 22:25

clothes and towels worn once is a shocking waste of energy and time
Doorframes washed? Seriously?
Ok,each to their own and all that but i really couldn't be arsed.
My Christmas deep clean has consisted of washing the kitchen floor and cleaning the shower curtain

DeRigueurMortis · 23/12/2018 22:25

I'm no where near as extreme as you but today I have....

  • cleaned the fridge, freezer and oven
  • washed the bedding in all 5 bedrooms
  • cleaned all the bathrooms inc washing towels
  • dug our my carpet cleaner to clean the living room carpet
  • duster and hoovered the house

I drew the line at hovering and turning the mattresses (actually I was just too knackered).

Thing is we have a houseful at Christmas and my house will be pristine until 12pm when the hordes arrive - then chaos for 2 days, after which I'll do the same again 🤦‍♀️

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:25

Started at 6.30. And to be fair dp took the kids out for the day meaning I could get on without 'help` from the 9m old pulling out everything I put away lol.

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:27

My oven does actually need it but we have it booked for the new year (cam with the Insurance) and figured as at family Xmas day it didnt matter.

OP posts:
Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:29

Haha yes doorfames dp has a dirty job and often gets them grubby... God knows how.
And a 9m old that's walking round the edges and lives blowing raspberries on the frames and doors... And our legs? Lol

BentNeckLady · 23/12/2018 22:29

I didn’t realise people still had dvds.

My house is cleaner at the moment that it is usually. I’ve hoovered twice this week and Dh asked me if the queen was coming for dinner 😂

NancyJoan · 23/12/2018 22:30

Washing towels every day is madness, but you probably know that. I’ve done enough to be happy, and so have you. If you feel it’s too much, do less!

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:31

Haha yes we still have dvds. God knows why as rarely watch them but ds and dsd like to watch them occasionally in their rooms.. Baby likes to pull them out..
We don't have netfix or sky or anything

crimsonlake · 23/12/2018 22:32

Not meaning to be rude but I am sure your children would have enjoyed your time more than a clean home. It is way over the top, washing towels only used once and the same with clothes, apart from a waste of water. You need to relax quite a bit on this schedule as it sounds as if you are verging on OCD, what does your family think?

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:32

I know its madness I can't stop.. I will try maybe as a NY resolution?

WipsGlitter · 23/12/2018 22:32

No I'd not bother with all that. We have a cleaner for a start. Today I've done a bit of sweeping and cleaned surfaces in the kitchen.

If it makes you happy and relaxed - fine. If it makes you stressed, snippy and anxious you might want to reconsider.

overitalready · 23/12/2018 22:33

Mine was done Monday to be repeated again tomorrow to then be repeated again Wednesday when everyones fucked off home

I dont think your list sounds bad, seems pretty normal to me

RebeccaCloud9 · 23/12/2018 22:34

I'm nowhere near as obsessive as you, but I have cleaned the doors, doorframes and kitchen cupboard doors this week so they're nice for Xmas, and done a deep Hoover. Still need to do the stairs and have another tidy round the kitchen tonight.

dementedma · 23/12/2018 22:35

i fully accept i am on the MN slattern scale when it comes to having a clean house but tonight Ds and i watched The Grinch in a sitting room with unwashed doorframes, undusted mantlepiece and unhoovered rug, and had a lovely evening.
My Christmas Eve clean tomorrow will be whipping round with the Hoover (10 mins) and erm.....that's about it!

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:36

I spend loads of time with my children. I do it when they're in bed mainly.. And dp does his eve job.. If they had been home today I wouldn't of done all that in one day.

I do enjoy cleaning and I do feel good when it's done.. Mostly apart from clothes washing if it's not done it doesn't bother me.

I only wanted to know if anyone else does this sort of thing.. My mum always did too yet now she's the furthest away from house proud?

OP posts:
IMissGin · 23/12/2018 22:36

I was going to say yes then read your list only to discover that no I don’t Xmas Grin do you have a job op? Where do you find the time to do all that washing for a start?

PeakBrexit · 23/12/2018 22:37

Why are you washing towels after one use?

sophisticatedsarcasm · 23/12/2018 22:37

We’ve done most of the stuff you’ve done, just gotta mop the floors tomorrow.. but my mum will do that as I have to work. 😊

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:38

We're out for the day tomorrow to a kids party then a meal with friends so tomorrow wong need doing as out at 10am after breakfast then bk around 6.30. So showers and movies..

Snowydaysaregreat · 23/12/2018 22:41

Just given up work after mat leave as I enjoy taking my dd to all the baby clubs and by time paid childcare it wasn't worth it..

1 load in morning
1 after school / showers.
Then towels.
Then another load before bed.

Dps uniform has to be done separate. So that's 2 loads of a weekend.. And 2 loads of bedding at weekend. And midweek..
