OK so I am quite particular about how i like our home.. Clothes to be worn just once, towels used once. Hoover and polish daily etc etc.
But before Xmas, birthdays etc I do a ridiculous deep clean.

Today I have...
washed every door, frame and skirting.
All 4 beds washed Inc hoovering mattresses and flipping over.
Big clear out of toys and clothes. Re arranged all dvds.
Disinfected all floors and surfaces. Cleaned out every kitchen cupboard and sorted the food.. Managed to run a load to food bank drop off point.
2 baskets of ironing.
Scrubbed bathroom.
Collected gifts for kids from storage and re hidden at home.
Defrosed freezer and all washed out.

Then went out to dinner.. Wasn't making a mess after that lol.

Home bath baby, had a soak. Others showered then dp just re did bathroom.
Washing machine on now for the towels.

I actually feel ready for Xmas.

OK reading back I'm crazy but I can't rwalx unless everything is done.

I have a very clingy toddler at the moment who is getting over a cold so hoping to hoover front room, clean bathroom and kitchen. Door frames probably need a wipe.

Clinicalwaste · 24/12/2018 12:01

Changed sheets washed all bedding
Cleaned x 3 bathrooms and changed all towels
Washed 3 x mats at each entrance
Dusted and glass everywhere
Hoovered everywhere
Washed kitchen and hall floor
Washed 2 x sofa covers , throws and cushion covers
Upstairs carpets professionally cleaned
Shampooed 2 x dogs😁
I have mild anxiety which manifests in over cleaning and tidying plus I grew up in a dirty house and my mother was a bit of a hoarder.

katekat383 · 24/12/2018 12:08

Good grief. That amount of cleaning is madness. I assume you must have a minimum of stuff - paintings, prints, objects, books etc.

katekat383 · 24/12/2018 12:11

@OP

katekat383 · 24/12/2018 12:15

OP - ignore the jealous posters who are being so rude and judgy!!!

What a silly comment. I feel pity not jealousy.

Theoryofmould · 24/12/2018 12:18

Ummmmm surveys kingdom from the sofa I am a very slovenly person, not only have I not washed any door frames, I haven't washed the kitchen floor since...nope I've forgotten. I may sling the vacuum about in a bit or more likely I'll instruct my husband to do it Grin

katekat383 · 24/12/2018 12:20

Just to say our house is clean, incidentally. And tidy. And historic.

Toomanybaubles · 24/12/2018 12:22

Certainly not jealous here either, it is a beautiful winters day here and I am going for a walk, then for lunch, then to the cinema. Having ironed sheets might be really nice, but not nice enough for me to stay in for!

Snowydaysaregreat · 24/12/2018 12:22

No we don't have many things just photos. And candles so no clutter. Daily it takes prob less than an hour for housework as in hoover, quick dust etc. It's not exactly a big place and I enjoy it. It's as simple as that.

We're at the tail end of a loft conversion that is still not completely finished. The whole of upstairs has got to be redecorate and every carpet needs to be deep cleaned.

There a very little point in doing a deep clean as the builders are back on Thursday. It's driving me mad!

Snowydaysaregreat · 24/12/2018 12:26

I don't stay in for it. We've been out all morning. Quick pop home as ds wanted to grab some stuff. Then out again..
I do it in the evenings when dp not here. So how am I missing out to do fun stuff?

I take my baby to 3 baby groups a week. Plus one that's a 4 weekly.. Take my ds out after school ( when he wants if he's not with mates) weekends we all go out as a family. Walks, parks, swimming etc..
I've Never put anything to do with family time off in exchange for cleaning.

Oh just ignore all the haters..They are just feeling jealous, that you have a beautiful clean house! Enjoy it..just like I'm enjoying looking at all my gleaming windows, spotless skirting boards and not a bit of dust in sight..until I light the log burner this evening 😂

EffOrf · 24/12/2018 13:58

Well the kitchen floor could do with a mop but Im too busy watching The West Wing instead, I hadn’t thought about doing the door frames

Theworldisfullofgs · 24/12/2018 13:59

Not just me then. I tend to spring clean at Xmas and chuck stuff out.

FamilyOfAliens · 24/12/2018 16:15

I’m definitely not feeling jealous of someone who spends such a huge amount of time doing unnecessary cleaning. What a strange idea.

fleshmarketclose · 24/12/2018 16:45

I have cleaned through the whole house in the run up to Christmas so today I have only hoovered and mopped every floor, cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen and damp dusted everywhere. All washing and ironing is done and I stripped all beds on Saturday.
I'm not obsessive about housework but I couldn't relax if I have people coming over if it wasn't clean and tidy.
