Thread 16 - the one with less than a week to go!

Thank you for all the congrats and messages on the last thread. I didn’t reply to all of them as I thought it might be dull reading for everyone but I really appreciate the advice, understanding and general congratulatory comments. Bad news is I’m still stuck on the sofa feeling sick, but at least it won’t last forever (thank goodness!).

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Omg, I've just got the kids presents out to wrap and I feel ashamed about the amount they've got....LOADS!!!!! I've been saying to everyone how I've not gone mad this year as they don't need anything and that I've not bought fillers!!! Oops 🙈🙈🙈

Reastie · 23/12/2018 06:28

Tinysnickers I’ve had the same issue but I tend to just smile and say thank you and never build the courage to say it’s not my taste. You’d think he’d have worked out given i never really wear stuff he buys me....

Anyone else have a sort of panic attack over gifts- if they’ve got enough, if the recipient will like it, etc etc... Hmm
Much harder with a house full of teens and twenty somethings. Most gifts look pretty boring - vouchers etc. Miss the days of huge plastic toys! Xmas Smile
I can’t wait til theshops shut and I can’t buy anything so stop twitching!!

Jammiebammie · 23/12/2018 08:32

wait I’m doing the same! I actually don’t have a lot this year so need to get more. Dh is actually taking me shopping in the town tomorrow morning, possibly our worst idea yet, manouvering a wheelchair through Xmas eve crowds Shock
Dd1 is 16 and her stuff looks tiny (but probably more expensive than the years of plastic)

ihope I hope the coffee wasn’t hot?? Glad you managed to get what you need though.

Can I add a second question about the echos? I’ve bought some for gifts, but only on the last one did I realise I could click ‘don’t link to account’. Will that be a problem for the ones I didn’t click or can I contact amazon to change that?

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 23/12/2018 10:23

daisy I felt the same. I kept a few bits back for dd2 birthday but dd1 has only just had a birthday so couldn't really keep any of hers. I think this year will just be a massive year for presents and next year I'm not starting till October!!! Problem was i bought loads in the summer and forgot about it then kept buying and hiding it away. It wasn't till it was all out that I realised how much I had bought. Dh hasn't quite seen it all.... I kept telling him I hadn't gone mad this year 😂

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 23/12/2018 10:23

So much planning, and now the in-laws won't be coming for Christmas after all! May have gone overboard since I knew they were coming (even made them Christmas stockings) - we're going to be eating Christmas dinner leftovers for weeks! 🙈

@imsorryiasked thanks for the MW jacket suggestion - I've ordered it for DS. Hopefully it holds out better than the last one!

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 23/12/2018 11:00

@reastie that's what I usually do and when it's something that's £25 quid but this was £150 and I just can't have something so expensive that will sit unworn Sad

Reastie · 23/12/2018 11:47

Snickers I guess it depends on your dh and how he would react. Since you’ve found it before he’s given it could you make an innocent comment whilst putting on a necklace today or tomorrow how you really have too many necklaces and might have to donate some to charity to make some space or something so it starts the bell on his head for returning yours so he might not be as offended?

@tinysnickersaremyfavourite almost every store has an extended Xmas policy for returns and exchanges. Look up their website and see - the store receipt may just have their standard 14 day policy printed by default. At worst, I’d call the store and notify them you will be returning the item.

Actual law is “You must offer a refund to customers if they've told you within 14 days of receiving their goods that they want to cancel. They have another 14 days to return the goods once they've told you. You must refund the customer within 14 days of receiving the goods back.”

duriandurian · 23/12/2018 12:48

Thanks aimee888 . Useful for next Christmas then Xmas Confused

slithytove · 23/12/2018 15:51

Jammiebammie. If you go to your devices within amazon you can unlink all the ones which are for gifts

onedayatatime73 · 23/12/2018 17:08

How do you use echo as an intercom? Sick of shouting up the stairs

CheekyFucker · 23/12/2018 17:41

I think I need one of the echo type things too. To play music and summon the children from their bedrooms. Our house is single story and has a very long corridor.

MinorRSole · 23/12/2018 18:12

I just say "drop in to (device name(". I don't know if that's the official way but it works

gaggiagirl · 23/12/2018 18:24

You can also say alexa make an announcement then it talks to all dots in the home.
My announcement is always TEAS READY

Alanamackree · 23/12/2018 19:54

Lisa angel sale

I can’t even decide if I’m anxious about buying the dc too much, or too little. I’ve completely lost all sense of reality now.

gaggiagirl · 23/12/2018 20:02

DH finally provided me with his Xmas wish list last night.
I would be lost without amazon prime.

Sarahclacko · 23/12/2018 21:58

For anyone that didn’t get the fabulous price a on the Lands End Sherpa fleeces they are now down to £20 in the sale. If you’re a new user and spend £40 you can get £20 off via a mention me link (also gives me a £20 off £40 code) pm me and I’ll provide my full name. Xmas Smile

livinginhope87 · 24/12/2018 06:04

Ahh wish I'd checked boots sooner, the joules cake tins I wanted went to half price but are now sold out - am going to have to check in stores!

ChristmasDaydreams · 24/12/2018 15:10

Popped into asda before and noticed all adults and kids Christmas underwear, nice dressing gowns, pajamas, socks, Christmas jumpers/t shirts etc all reduced. Might be of some help to someone Xmas Grin

imsorryiasked · 24/12/2018 17:26
