Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it [thanks

@love Lego code not working had few hundred pound in my basket too

Whyisitsodifficult · 06/12/2018 21:43

I couldn’t get the Lego code to work! Has anyone got a Wayfair discount code?

Notlongnow1 · 06/12/2018 21:43

Gutted! Had next years advent calendar all set 😭

Whyisitsodifficult · 06/12/2018 21:51

hoopdeloop I can’t find those deals on Expedia how does it work?

Lovemusic33 · 06/12/2018 21:54

2nd order cancelled. Won't be getting my Lego set.

Kerrierr · 06/12/2018 21:57

@grufalostick please could you pm your code. Thank you sweetie x

Tulipvase · 06/12/2018 21:59

I’ve had a confirmation email from Lego and they have taken the money, will be very cross if they now cancel it. I only ordered one thing though.

Rockhopper81 · 06/12/2018 22:13

I had a confirmation email from Lego, then a cancellation email. £250-ish worth. I’ll try again with less in there, but suspect the result will be the same...annoying. I can see why they wouldn’t honour it if it’s a staff code, but they’ll still get a lot of revenue from it!

Casablanca78 · 06/12/2018 22:16

I paid via PayPal for Lego and have a confirmation email. About 45 mins ago and no cancellation as yet. Fingers crossed but not feeling too hopeful.

Rockhopper81 · 06/12/2018 22:16

Promotion code no longer valid on the Lego shop. Sad

whenwillthetwitchstrike · 06/12/2018 22:20

@Drummingisfun thank you for the explanation. Dilemma now - do I give DD the ones I have & risk disappointment or give them to someone else (no idea who!) and got for the Magformers.

Casablanca78 · 06/12/2018 22:26

@whenwillthetwitchstrike if it’s any help I did a lot of research and asked for options - overwhelming response was that playmags/magnatiles were much preferred to magformers and much better play value in terms of what you can build and all the add ons etc.
I went for playmags and stalked Amazon for prices to come down! I got 2 sets (160 pieces) for around £50 for both on Amazon warehouse.

Tulipvase · 06/12/2018 22:29

My Lego order has now been cancelled. It’s all very well that they say they won’t take the money until despatch but funds have been earmarked by my bank and it can take 3 days for the money to be released back to me.

Casablanca78 · 06/12/2018 22:30

Just had Lego cancellation email too, boo!

Rockhopper81 · 06/12/2018 22:33

I’ve emailed Lego - I dare say I won’t get a response, but just asking why my order was cancelled and how it was a shame they didn’t honour orders placed before they pulled the promotional code.

It’s a shame, Lego have always had excellent customer service when I’ve needed to use them - I know this has probably been unavoidable, but they would have stood to make a lot of money between us, spending what we normally wouldn’t!

Drummingisfun · 06/12/2018 22:37

@whenwillthewitchstrike
Give the playmags to my DD? Grin

Drummingisfun · 06/12/2018 22:42

I am making slow progress.
Have got the kids a kidizoom camera each (on behalf of inlaws abroad) using the Very new customer discount making them £25 each which isn't bad I think. However have now realised that I will have to buy a battery charger and rechargeable batteries too.

DD still has sweet FA but DS is finished.
Buying for a second child is waaaaay harder. Especially a 3 year old one that doesn't like small world play, or sparkly pretty 'girly' things. She insists she wants dinosaurs but we've got a huge box of dinosaurs that she never plays with Hmm

Vicious2018 · 06/12/2018 22:50

I saw the Lego code in ukhd and was gutted that I would have gotten millenium Vulcan much cheaper than the one from smyths on Black Friday. Decided to have a look anyway but the set I am after wasn't cheaper than what it had been. I didn't order anything.

nordicwannabe · 06/12/2018 23:22

I've been stung by my bargain hunting!

Back in the Argos 3for2, I got a little live pets puppy for DD - flip of the coin over whether to get the puppy or kitten - and now she has written her Santa letter, asking for a toy kitten. Arghhh!!!

I know she'd love the puppy, but I'm rather sorry she won't get what she's asked for (6yo so peak Christmas magic).

Does anyone know whether Argos will exchange more than 30 days after purchase? And even more long shot, would they replace as like for like, given that the 2 items cost the same now, or would I lose my 3for2 discount?

thaegumathteth · 06/12/2018 23:26

Sorry if already mentioned - Superdrug have 12 days Snow White and mickey advent calendars for £3.50 each. They also have some make up bags reduced or buy one get one half price. Lots of love island paraphernalia for anyone interested too.

DaisyChops · 06/12/2018 23:47

@nordicwannabe Argos have always been really good with me taking toys back from 342 deals, they say they can only refund the price you paid but whenever I have done it they have refunded the full price of the toy. Alternatively, can you just take it in and swap it for the cat?

NoSquirrels · 06/12/2018 23:47

nordic I’d go ask nicely, and if they wouldn’t and it was a lot to trade to a kitten, I’d stick with the puppy because you know she’ll love it anyway... maybe with a creative note from the elves saying cats are notoriously tricky and the kittens all escaped whereas the dogs were good boys...Wink

hoopdeloop · 07/12/2018 00:05

@Whyisitsodifficult the Expedia code has now expired, sorry

PurpleSock · 07/12/2018 00:28

Thanks for all the wonderful bargains! I've saved so much money thanks to this thread!!

I'm meeting to do a few small (in size) hampers, can anyone recommend where to get clear plastic cellophane? Or even thin plastic bags to put the hampers in and the with a ribbon? Got quite a few to do so would need quite a lot!
Hamper baskets are about the size if a decent sized book, bigger and a5 but not quite a4

Also, had an email about a "free" toucan box here it's £2 p&p and I can't vouch for quality as have only just ordered, have been recommended to me a few times though

Whenisitover · 07/12/2018 00:28

@GruffaloStick - contigo travel mugs are brilliant - don't drip and keep drinks hot for ages - they often have them in Tesco
