I'm trying to get some inspiration because I'm trying to switch mine up this year. I'd really appreciate it x

@baboibshka

Is that real or fake tree?

VeniVidiViciTwice · 03/12/2018 17:56

Here's my tree. It is up really early for us but I'm feeling really cosy with the lights twinkling (you can change the settings on the lights)

@elfontheshelf

Both fake (bought in the Balsam Hill sale)...I had real ones for years but when I moved in with my now husband I switched to fakes because of his dog (pine needles and paws weren't a good combo bless her).

I think you can really tell up close but from a distance they pass (especially with my less than professional branch spacing - I get bored after 5 minutes!)

PeaceRiot · 03/12/2018 19:35

I should have got new lights...but although I used to get real trees and miss the smell, I do love my gigantic fake tree Grin

We haven't decorated ours yet but it will probably look like this (photo from two years ago). It's a fakey but we had a real tree (currently growing in our garden) last year.

Here is mine. A real one so it might be wilting a bit by Christmas, but I don't like to keep it up much longer after Christmas day anyway.

That's beautiful Faronthemaddingcrowd!
I love real trees but we have to put ours up early this time and always keep it up until 12th night/epiphany (5th/6th January) so it wasn't an option this year.

Sickenedbychristmaspud · 03/12/2018 21:20

Hi guys sorry again for the lack of keeping up after me asking to see your trees. I've had a bit of a health set back and haven't spent time on my phone. I love every single one of your trees, I love how every one decorates so differently and they all look so so pretty. Thank you for sharing them x

The first of our 4 up. This is the biggest, still need to do the 5’ in the dining room and the two 2’ for the kitchen and hallway. It’s taken me all day and I’m still missing things to finish off this room but DH is at sea and we have a newborn. Had to get DM over to watch DD so I could wrangle the beast. Didn’t realise how much longer it would take me to decorate with a child. She is our first to be fair though. Optimism is still there haha.

@ChristmasIsMyFavourite is my favourite.

Vintage, therefore ‘recycled’; hasn’t bought loads of new unrecyclable landfill tat just for the sake of it; is keeping a tradition alive and contributing to the health of the planet without even trying. Lovely

alreadyinchristmasmood · 04/12/2018 05:17

@HoHoFuckingHo what a beautiful tree and home you have❤️

helppleasee · 04/12/2018 06:17

mimiasovitch · 04/12/2018 09:48

Lisabel · 04/12/2018 14:19

mumsiedarlingrevolta- is your tree real? it's beautiful!

Lisabel · 04/12/2018 14:24

Dontopendeadinside- that's beautiful! Love the pretty living room decorations too!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/12/2018 16:23

@helpplease thank you!
I think they are all so lovely and really enjoy seeing everyone's different way of doing things. I do my lights one day (think thousands) and decorate the next day-this year with DD. It is a collection of ornaments going back to my childhood.
We usually buy an ornament on holiday to remind us of the different places/countries we have visited and the DC used to pick a new one annually when they were little. So it is full of memories and experiences and makes decorating it so much fun.
I will give each of my DC some of the ornaments they have picked over the years to take with them when they leave home to help them start their own tree.
@Lisabel it is real-always put it up around beginning of december and knock wood it always lasts til 12th Night.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/12/2018 16:24

And @lisabel- thank you Blush

Lisabel · 04/12/2018 18:53

@mumsiedarlingrevolta- do you hang the lights diagonally or horizontally? We've tried both and I'm not sure which is best!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 05/12/2018 19:53

@lisabel I wrap round starting at the top and then also wrap around individual branches to get lights deep in the branches and around trunk.
Am already dreading 12th night when I have to take them down.
one year I def did not lose my patience and cut a string off with scissors that I could not untangle
look forward to seeing your tree!!
