Thread 12 - where we hope Black Friday doesn't turn out to just be slightly grey

@Reastie is obviously busy getting her sprouts on, so I've set up a new thread just to keep us moving.

Previous thread here with Reastie's usual helpful posts.

Remember everyone, it's only a bargain if you need it and check it hasn't been cheaper before/isn't cheaper somewhere else! Happy Thanksgiving Xmas Wink

Looking for a groot dressing gown from Argos - anyone know if any stores have them in stock?

Smokeahontas · 24/11/2018 22:24

@TheGirlWhoLived weeping with laughter Grin

NumberPerson · 24/11/2018 22:27

@DillieDoily
Am making advent calendar as well, for 7 year old b/twins
Girl stuff may not all be suitable, as your DD is a lot younger, but it will include

Shopkins
Bath bombs (£1 ones from Superdrug
Lip balm
Lol stickers
Clip on earrings (sets from Claire's that were discounted)
Sqeeze egg thing
Mario figures (set of 18 for about £8, from Ebay) not great quality but DS will love them

They get a present in turns, except for the 1st December, the other one gets a chocolate coin.

And on Christmas Eve they both get a slightly larger chocolate figure
Smile

Beaga good suggestions. I bit the bullet and went out and bought a load of miniature whiskies and travel size toiletries. Going to make my own. I am not arty at all but even I can't go wrong with paper bags and pegsHmm

imsorryiasked · 24/11/2018 22:32

@MinorRSole stockfinder says not available to collect from any store.

ReindeerPoop · 24/11/2018 22:32

GrinGrinGrinShock at the wanking auntie

MinorRSole · 24/11/2018 22:35

@imsorryiasked typical but thanks for checking that - how did you do it?

DillieDoily · 24/11/2018 22:38

Has anyone seen the My Busy Books sets anywhere for about £6? The ones that come with the little figures and a playmate. Ideally I'd like Frozen, Trolls, Disney Princesses, Paw Patrol, Ninja Turtles, Superheroes or anything like that.

The only Black Friday "deal" I have purchased is this bluetooth speaker from Amazon. Almost half price at £49.99 and cheapest ever according to CCC. Quite a few family members have one of these and they constantly rave about how brilliant they are. I imagine they are quite 'cool' for teens too, though am many years past having any actual knowledge of what teens like.

IHeartKingThistle · 24/11/2018 22:42

@DillieDoily mine love moshi monsters and I just get second hand bundles from eBay quite cheaply. They fit in little advent calendars perfectly. You've probably still got time for that!

totallyLosingIt · 24/11/2018 22:42

@DillieDoily Asda has loads of them. I picked up the Moana one for my DD. I can also remember Paw Patrol, Beauty & the beast, Disney princesses, Shimmer & Shine, Cars, and many others in my local.

recklessgran · 24/11/2018 22:42

Please can somebody explain the Glossybox? I can't seem to find the original post. It looks as though it's sold out? So please how do you get the Karl Lagerfeld for £1?
Thanks to anyone that's got the patience to explain it to me.

CaseStudyResearch · 24/11/2018 22:44

Actually, I think I've just found some gloves for DH at M&S - are they still doing the 20% codes? If so, does anyone have a spare one that they could PM me please?

Beingginger · 24/11/2018 22:44

DILLIE I got my niece a paw patrol busy book from TK Maxx, they had frozen as well maybe a couple of Disney ones too. I’m fairly sure I paid £5.99 for it.

HoneyDragon · 24/11/2018 22:44

If I extend my search radius Milton Keynes have one Groot Robe left again.

recklessgran · 24/11/2018 22:50

Dillie I got a superheroes busy book for £6 from WHSmith here;
www.whsmith.co.uk/products/marvel-avengers-assemble-my-busy-books/9782764324905
They had a few others but they mainly seem sold out now. I bought a few and used code BLACK18 which gets £5 off a £20 spend if that helps you at all.

MonkeyfaceThereturn · 24/11/2018 23:01

That MK robe will be the one I reserved and couldn't collect 🙈

Where in the country are you minor?

MinorRSole · 24/11/2018 23:09

Scotland 😢 I have family all over but not near Milton Keynes sadly

1stMrsF · 24/11/2018 23:12

reckless thank you for Monsoon tip. Several dresses winging their way to me for trying on!

trixymalixy · 24/11/2018 23:14

Don’t buy power banks from Poundland. I bought some and none of them worked.

Cheesycheesytwist · 24/11/2018 23:16

Loving this thread!

Has anyone seen a mini super Nintendo on offer anywhere? Cheapest I can find is £5 off at Smyths making it £65. Holding out for more of a bargain...

DillieDoily · 24/11/2018 23:18

Thank you for all the advent calendar and busy book suggestions- this thread is amazing!

TheGirlWhoLived · 24/11/2018 23:19

dilly Tesco’s definitely have them in the book section -usually two for a tenner or something

TheGirlWhoLived · 24/11/2018 23:23

Reckless; re Glossybox- I typed in “advent calendar” in the Glossybox site and it came up with the calendar for £99. Added it to my basket. Then typed in “Karl L box” in the Glossybox site and it came up with the Karl Lagerfeld beauty box for £30. Added it to my basket. Then went to ‘my basket’ and it took £29.99 off the Karl L box (now totalling £99.01) finally I typed “FLASH65” in the promo box (either on basket page or checkout page, one of the two but I can’t preceisely remember which), which took the advent calendar down to £65 and totalled £65.01 for the pair!

Sorry if that is completely patronising. My sole job is to look after a toddler all day so I forget how to do grown-up speak Grin

HoneyDragon · 24/11/2018 23:25

Burgess Hill Argos has a groot robe
