@Reastie is obviously busy getting her sprouts on, so I've set up a new thread just to keep us moving.

Previous thread here with Reastie's usual helpful posts.

Remember everyone, it's only a bargain if you need it and check it hasn't been cheaper before/isn't cheaper somewhere else! Happy Thanksgiving Xmas Wink

Oh thank you TheGirlWhoLived - I get it now, thought I was going mad. Don't feel patronised at all I can be mighty thick at times for a highly intelligent woman. Enjoy your toddler - really miss my 5 now they're all grown up and gone. [ENVY!]

HoneyDragon · 24/11/2018 23:33

Can’t find any in Scotland though.

truthtopower · 24/11/2018 23:34

Alice in Wonderland colouring book on Amazon

here

For other magazines from Future Publishing, there's a 20% off for Black Friday weekend deal at the moment with the code BLK20.

I've just bought ds1 a subscription to the How It Works magazine with a free Did You Know book (I'm guessing a 'bookazine' rather than proper book but better than nothing!) for £24 instead of the annual subscription price of £30 - and that's supposed to be a saving of 54% as it costs £6 an issue now...

If you go through the ordinary magazine link you won't get the free book - you have to go to www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/hiw/xmas182/ (I tried putting xmas182 as a code but it said invalid - you need to go through this url).

It's making me wonder if any of the other magazines they have that I'm interested in have unique urls for deals with a christmas gift... might have to have a quick look in the supermarket tomorrow before ordering!

Other magazines include several photography ones, art, design, tech, gaming, history, sport, music and more.

Ds1 is 13 and loves the How it Works mag - at £24 for a year it's a real bargain. Even if he isn't interested in every single article in every issue, he reads pretty much most of it, because he never knows what he's going to be fascinated by next. We recently ended up having a fab but surreal conversation about ostrich anatomy that led to social media and architecture and all sorts. It would also be great for a girl interested in science or the world around them, it's not just a boy's comic!

margaritasbythesea · 24/11/2018 23:36

Totallylosingit - I have a speaker from that company and it's great. Fab price for it.

Worriedmum42 · 24/11/2018 23:52

I haven't kept up with the whole thread but I am in MK if I can help with the robe purchase at all?

TheGirlWhoLived · 25/11/2018 00:05

Whilst seeing what a groot was, I found a lovely Harry Potter dressing gown for a tenner! at argos had one in my home town to collect tomorrow too :)

MinorRSole · 25/11/2018 00:24

@Worriedmum42 that would be amazing but I don't know how we organise it. I could do fast track but would still need to get money to you for postage.

rosablue · 25/11/2018 00:37

Anybody got any thoughts on the Anki Cozmo or Vector?

DS (9) loves robots and we thought he'd like one - saw a good deal on the Cozmo at Costco - but then looked a bit more closely and saw it needed a phone or tablet to work with whereas the vector you could talk to and it would do things itself without a tablet. But - it will work out about £100 more...

Anybody know if the Cozmo is good enough or are we going to wish we went with the Vector?

rosablue · 25/11/2018 00:40

Quick wave to @Worriedmum42 - another one here in MK burning the midnight oil!

FallenSky · 25/11/2018 06:43

Not sure if this has been posted. For anyone with Fortnite mad children Claire's have two Pop Vinyls Skull trooper and Brite Bomber for £7 each when using code OMG. They are also in a buy two get two free deal with some other items but I couldn't get both offers to work at the same time so just took the 50% off. Free C&C as well.

I've added a few other random things to a new basket to check and I think that the code works site wide for 50% off.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 25/11/2018 07:09

@FallenSky thank you I just got my two teen ds's the fortnite skull pop for £7

GoodnightMooncup · 25/11/2018 07:53

I also had a game delivered by amazon without a box - luckily it wasn't for my kids! Is this a new thing they are doing?

imsorryiasked · 25/11/2018 08:09

@MinorRSole sorry went to bed! To check stock I googled "Argos groot dressing gown" and clicked the Argos page that comes up. This says not available in my store - happy to travel? If you click through it then says not available to collect in any store. Obvs they come back into stock for non- collection and returns etc.

It’s not. They delivered me a new printer (from my husband) last year. I was a bit confused as he passed me the box. Phoned the husband and he was less than impressed. He complained and got £5 back. Not amazing but something. I thought it was funny thankfully.

Also just wanted to post for those looking for an iPad reduction. If you have a Costco membership there is a code on their front page which brings the big standard 2018 model down to £281. Hoping I haven’t pulled the trigger too soon on that. I think you can get it slightly cheaper on Very but it requires you to open an account with them.

duckling84 · 25/11/2018 08:21

It usually states in the listing when it won't be in Amazon packaging but you can select to have it put into an Amazon box at the checkout and it doesn't cost extra. I guess they are trying to be considerate of the environment and excess packaging

Taffeta · 25/11/2018 08:26

Flowers for the Monsoon tip! Got a lovely £75 dress for £45 x

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 25/11/2018 08:32

I’ve tried and tried but can’t find the monsoon tip, can anyone repeat it please? Thanks

BlueOooChristmas · 25/11/2018 08:35

Correction *bog standard, not big standard

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/11/2018 08:45

When you order from amazon, if it isn’t going to come in packaging, it tells you just under the add to basket button and gives you the option to put it in packaging on the order confirmation page

My huge amazon order arrived yesterday. Everything was individually packaged Angry but my Roald Dahl monopoly came in an amazon box Confused

rosablue · 25/11/2018 09:09

@DillyDoily It’s probably worth trying Poundland if you have one near you. Last year I got a packet of Christmas themed erasers with about 24 in . Included repeats and different colour ways but enough to bulk out an advent calendar a good way. Plus they often have packets of little —fake— own brand Lego men with 4 or 5 in which would take up a few days. Then there’s a pack with 2 playing cards in which would work for another day. They will often have party bag stuff in - bouncy balls, parachuting soldiers, etc. Likewise they usually ha e loads of hot wheels cars in, including character ones that girls would like.

They often have fun lip balm flavours at this time of year (Walls ice cream, fizzy fruit etc) for another one. Some fun bubble bath or other things that are a bit big - put a couple of treasure hunt clues in (just not at the beginning as you don’t want to have to think up new clues for every night - made that mistake before!).

Then hit the stationery aisle - mini notebooks or memo blocks, little pens, small post it notes, stickers, etc. are usually loved by kids of that age.
