What colour tree decorations?

I've decided I might like to change my tree decorations this year.
I usually go for red and white and have spent quite a bit of money on baubles over the years, but I've seen some beautiful aqua coloured ones and it's made me want to now have those along with white.

So what colours are your trees and do you think I should change?

Mine are normally black and silver but I've bought some red ones to add in this year

MissMarplesKnitting · 15/11/2018 17:45

I've always gone for red and gold with a Scandinavian sort of feel....but this year I am ditching it for champagne pale gold, copper and white. I might've gone a bit nuts.

Hippopotas · 15/11/2018 17:50

I’m going to change all mine next year. I’ve always gone for silver red and white but want aqua and blue with silver next time I think.

happytobemrsg · 15/11/2018 17:50

Ours are silver, white & copper - I love it! We changed our colours last year (they were all different jewel colours previously) & although it was expensive starting pretty much from scratch I don't regret it!

Mochachinomumma · 15/11/2018 18:12

I think I'm going to do it, it's quite exciting Grin

Ours are the same as @MissMarplesKnitting champagne gold, copper and white it looks lovely

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 15/11/2018 18:19

We normally have a pale blue, red, cream and gold theme. The decorations are all scandanavian themed. Since they all got ruined by the leaky roof in the garage, I have been looking around and saw a lovely navy bauble, and thought that with white would be lovely.

Lovemusic33 · 15/11/2018 20:31

I spent a fortune last year and went for autum colours (golds, oranges, red berries) and birds (robins). This year my living room has changed and I wanted to go for pink, purple and orange but can’t justify buying new decorations after spending a fortune next year. So I have decided to maybe have 2 trees, 2 deffently themes but only using cheap tree decorations for the new tree.

madeyemoodysmum · 15/11/2018 20:34

Years ago I was red and gold but about 6 years ago I swopped to teal aqua silver and white. It's so pretty
I love it and don't want to change ever!!

Mochachinomumma · 15/11/2018 20:39

That's exactly what I done last year, after having our 5ft tree which was as old as the gods, bought a 7ft one and went totally overboard with decorations.

I'm going to get the decorations out tomorrow and see exactly what I have and maybe pass them on if I do decide to change.

On a side note can I see some pictures if you have any?

Rarfy · 15/11/2018 20:45

Ours is going to be aqua /duck egg, white and silver this year. I have some iridescent tinsel and an iridescent bow to go on the top.

Got some gorgeous baubles from b&m at a good price and cant wait to put it up.

Had bronze / gold / champagne coloured stuff previous years which were nice but we have just moved and the new colours will go better.

Mochachinomumma · 15/11/2018 20:47

Rarfy That's where I saw the ones I wanted, some of them were beautiful.
I bought a few of the large clear ones with white on the outside.

Amazon sell every colour bauble imaginable if people are struggling to get a specific colour for a theme.

SimplyPut · 15/11/2018 20:53

We have three trees

Lounge is mixed metallics with wooden and neutral fabric ones too.
Hallway is red and white Scandinavian style.
Playroom is a full on colour and tack fest! Tinsel, school decorations, coloured lights, Disney, Pom poms and bunting everywhere!

PeonyTruffle · 15/11/2018 20:55

Tiffany blue, white and silver with lots of glass ones. We have the (ridiculous) 8ft tree plus decs from our Christmas wedding at home now and it makes me super happy when we put it up!

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/11/2018 20:55

Rainbow theme for us too. Went a bit crazy on my birthday and treat myself to new tree and decorations. I can't wait to see it all up, I haven't been this excited about it since I was a child. Just hoping glass decorations fair well with cats and toddler Grin

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 15/11/2018 21:02

Mrsfussypants1 what colours are you doing? I have decided on 5 layers-pink red blue green and gold.
So excited!

Mochachinomumma · 15/11/2018 21:03

Mrsfussypants1 My mum gave me £100 as she does every year to spend on myself and I plan on spending most if not all on decorations Grin I love Christmas and have been itching to get my tree up since the 1st of November.

I buy new bobbles every year after Christmas when they are 25% of their ticket price. Aqua, white and silver are beautiful together. Have fun x

Mookie81 · 15/11/2018 21:11

Had silver and aqua with white lights last year.
This year purple and gold with warm white lights.

MarklahMarklah · 15/11/2018 21:18

Ooples I saw some rainbow decorations in Primark today. Actual rainbow shapes...
I do a theme every year too, but I try to make sure I incorporate what I've got into whatever theme I'm doing. I have a lot of different colours but white or silver are usually on every year.

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 15/11/2018 21:22

Ohhh fab MarklahMarkhla sound great (will smuggle them past DH Grin)
I love this thread!

mydogishot · 15/11/2018 21:25

Couple of years ago I bought loads of (fake) white feathers from craft shops and covered my tree in them.

Looked gorgeous with the lights.
Friends 6 year old said "angels shook their wings on your tree"

weeboysmummy · 15/11/2018 21:38

White and silver here. New colours last year and loved them so keeping them this year Smile
