What colour tree decorations?

I've decided I might like to change my tree decorations this year.
I usually go for red and white and have spent quite a bit of money on baubles over the years, but I've seen some beautiful aqua coloured ones and it's made me want to now have those along with white.

So what colours are your trees and do you think I should change?

mydog you've reminded me, I have a bundle of peacock feathers somewhere. Might dig them out for this years' tree.

m.primark.com/en/products/category/home,seasonal

Primark have great value silver, white, aqua and blue sets

Bumbumtaloo · 15/11/2018 21:43

We had different shades of gold - from rose to dark gold they cost me 10p a tub of 40 (I think it was 40) from B & M in the sale.

We have now decorated our living room and our old decorations won’t go with our new colour scheme (blue and cream) so I have bought a load of navy blue and silver from Homebase, I love them and can’t wait to put my tree up.

I will give the others away for free on a local Facebook page.

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/11/2018 21:58

Red,gold, green,turquoise/blue and pink. I bought baubles from m&s and john Lewis. And glass decorations from paperchase and Fenwicks and picked up a bargain glass robot for £3 from peacock. I have been tempted by some next multi coloured large retro tree lights, but not sure if it will have to much going on. I'll post some pics when it's up. I love seeing peoples trees. Do have a snoop in peoples windows when I'm going past as I love seeing everyone's decorations.

meercat23 · 15/11/2018 22:02

My decorations have been collected over more years than I will admit. Over the years all of the colours have gone, broken or lost and now they are all clear glass or silver with white lights. Sounds boring but looks lovely. Well I think so😃

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 15/11/2018 22:19

@Mrsfussypants1 sounds fab! I am going to stick with white lights but have rainbow lights for my fireplace to match with the tree!

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/11/2018 22:40

Ooples that's such a good idea. I think I might copy.

dulcefarniente · 15/11/2018 22:46

No real theme just the collection we've built up over the years including some from my childhood in the seventies. They all have memories attached.

Fifthtimelucky · 15/11/2018 23:01

@dulcefarniente I'm the same. On the whole I don't like themed trees, though as well as my proper tree, which has a mix of decorations collected over many years, I have a smaller wooden one that just has gold decorations.

I love getting my Christmas decorations out every year. It always cheers me up.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 15/11/2018 23:02

Lots. All kinds of shapes and colours. Magical.

Mochachinomumma · 15/11/2018 23:02

This was our old tree which looks very bare and half dead, I can't seem to find last year's pictures.

I also love looking at other people's Christmas trees.

I brought all new last year and am hoping to keep them for a few years. They are red & silver baubles & glitter poinsettia thingys. Plus red, silver, white & wooden misc decs, got some lovely different ones from Asda. A silver polar bear, a red and white phone box, a gingerbread man, a white & red North Pole post box that opens so you can put small things in, a wooden tartan reindeer.

apostropheuse · 16/11/2018 07:18

Ours is an eclectic collection of Christmas multi-coloured heavenly glory, gathered over the last 35 years. It takes a while to decorate it as I stop and reminisce with each bauble or decorations that brings back memories. I love it.

Chiamaka111 · 16/11/2018 16:16

Ours is going to be red and gold

Curious2468 · 16/11/2018 16:40

My green tree has red decorations, lots hand made or ‘nice’ bought ones.

My second tree is rainbow coloured and I am on a mission to find the loudest baubles and random decorations to fill it with 😂

ElleMcFearsome · 16/11/2018 17:10

My tree is silver and white and gets a bit extra added every year.

However this year I've seen gorgeous peacock/jewel coloured decorations everywhere so have bought... um... some. I'm planning a second (smaller) tree for these ones to go on. DH not fully aware of this yet Wink

dulcefarniente · 16/11/2018 18:09

Those of you who do new themes - what do you do with the old decorations? Do you keep them to possibly use in the future or do you keep the clutter down by scrapping them?

Ooplesandbanoonoos · 16/11/2018 20:22

I keep mine to allow for different options each year

Need2morehands · 16/11/2018 20:27

Last year we had an inflatable tree as we moved in on Christmas Eve so this year il be getting all new decorations too I’m so excited I think the theme will be rose gold/white/gold to match the living room although dp wants the inflatable one again.

Need2morehands · 16/11/2018 20:28

That was ours!

Mrsfussypants1 · 16/11/2018 21:31

I've gifted all our old decorations to my mum for her dining room. They were nice Scandi style ones from next and Sainsbury's and our old next white twig tree. There still in style and I couldnt bear to bin them. In future I will store them in our new attic space all labelled and organised. Bought a lot of glass ornaments this year and it will be very fun, but I may have a diff theme next year but will try not to follow latest trend because then I can alternate them and they wont date.

MarklahMarklah · 16/11/2018 22:39

Curious there are some very bright ones in Debenhams at the moment.

Like others here, I keep my decorations as they get mixed up/around to suit my themes. I also try to plan ahead so I get any I need for next year in this year's sales.

Star2015 · 17/11/2018 07:44

Our colour theme tends to be red, white and green although we don’t have ‘traditional’ globes, each of ours is different for example, woven Santa’s, little sledges, red phone boxes, Christmas owls.... I love it!

RingtheBells · 17/11/2018 07:54

I don't have too many baubles and last year got some duck egg colour in the sales so will use those, I keep all my old baubles in the attic so can change colour each year if needed. I usually have some sort off woodland theme going though and each year get a couple of new animal baubles from John Lewis, this year I bought a hedgehog and a squirrel, also have lots of pine cones from Wilko on the tree and some woodland animals (generally picked up from JL sale) sitting beneath the tree

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 17/11/2018 08:02

I don't like themed trees.

We have a eclectic collection which we've gathered over 10+ years. Every year I take the dds to pick out a new glass baubles each so it's gets more eclectic as time goes on! But I love it and it genuinely looks great.

What happens to all these rejected 'themed' baubles?
