What are the best biscuits to go with cheese?

We're hosting Christmas for the first time and I want to do a brilliant cheeseboard for the end of the meal. But if we are having really nice cheeses I feel like we ought to have really good biscuits to go with them. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also any recommendations for other things to serve with it - I'm going to have grapes and chutney and I've found little miniatures of quince gin Smile Gin

We love mini oatcakes from Waitrose and those rosemary crackers from Aldi or lidl.

Celery and walnuts might be good additions?

Quince gin sounds wonderful, can I ask where you got that from please?

Melba toasts and ritz biscuits 😋🤤

jacobs crackers are always nice, i believe they do a cracker selection.

you could also (to make it special) offer:

a selection of breads,
sweet preserves or honey, tart chutneys
cured meats such as prosciutto and salami,

Carr’s Table Water Biscuits, preferably the larger diameter ones.
Bath Oliver
Some sort of oat biscuit, Waitrose do nice ones with various flavourings, black sesame and seaweed is really good
Something with a rough texture. Like Millers 3 seed crackers

user1486076969 · 11/09/2018 19:57

Oatcakes everytime

alwaysthinkingofsleep · 11/09/2018 20:01

I personally detest oat biscuits so would never inflict those upon guests! You need a variety of crackers to match the cheese;
Water biscuits always and easy winner with a crumbly cheese

Rosemary crackers as a prev poster has mentioned with nearly anything as I love them

Peters yard sourdough are amazing with a soft gooey cheese (rind goats for eg). All are great but particularly charcoal one

Don't ruin the cheese with bad biscuits!

Water biscuits. I don't like my cheese flavours competing with fancy biscuits. Those cornish wafers are the worst though, I always think they seem stale.

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/09/2018 20:06

Stilton, Brie, Cambazola, danish blue, a good strong cheddar is my perfect cheese board with a Brussels pate if we're pushing the boat out 🤤😋

Laska5772 · 11/09/2018 20:07

If you have waitrose ( other supermarkets do them also i think) , then Peters Yard crispbreads are the absolute best things ever ( and also Water Biscuits of course !)

ZenNudist · 11/09/2018 20:10

Water biscuits. Def get water biscuits. Cambazola is my fave but also love blue d'avergn (sp) or St agur.

Chimchar · 11/09/2018 20:10

I really love a digestive with cheese.

I could do a plate right now!

TFSRM · 11/09/2018 20:13

So far I'm going to be going to Aldi, M&S and Waitrose for these biscuits Grin Loving all these ideas, thank you.

if you go to Paxton & Whitfield they do a selection of lovely biscuits to match most cheeses, they do online orders for naiiiice cheese too (full disclosure I used to work there)

TFSRM · 11/09/2018 20:14

My ideal cheeseboard would be a hard cheese, soft, ewe, goat, blue and smoked. Although I'd happily double up on ewe and goat and dump the hard and blue cheeses.
