Depending on the child , you generally can’t go wrong with duplo and Lego for the 4 and 7 year old . Nerf guns are popular at that age too but not every parent likes them .

Drummingisfun · 31/08/2018 17:30

They have sooooo much duplo and lego already though, and they aren't really inyo making the particular sets, it just all grts dumped into a massive box if pieces.
I did think about nerf guns, I don't think my sister would have a problem with them, but I don't really agree with them for my kids so it would feel hypocritical to get them iyswim.

GoEasyJulia · 31/08/2018 17:34

Thanks for the link to the capes @Drummingisfun, I’ve just ordered one each for my boy and girl, they love dressing up and have loads of dinsey costumes so these will be a nice change 😁

GoEasyJulia · 31/08/2018 17:35

*disney even!

TKRedLemonade · 31/08/2018 17:58

I want to bookmark the last post in the thread so I don’t have to keep scrolling through. Ppl say to click the three little dots but that’s doesn’t work. How do I go about asking Mumsnet. Have bought Polly pockets but way behind this year as hopefully moving house so need to keep track of this thread Grin

nickdrakeslovechild · 31/08/2018 19:19

Stila have the Star-Studded Eight - Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick Set for £22.50 each which is half price. Lovely present and free delivery too.

FairIsleQueen · 31/08/2018 19:38

TKRed not sure, but I always flip the thread so I see the latest bargains and scroll back. That way I get a chance of catching something.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 31/08/2018 19:54

TKRed I tend to flip the thread then bookmark the page under my browsers bookmarks so I can just refresh to catch the deals.

mamapants I've ordered Harry Potter fans personalised name keyrings on Etsy for a few quid. Just search for Harry Potter name keyring on Etsy.com

Stripy29 · 31/08/2018 21:18

My magpie order still hasn't arrived and it says it was shipped on the 22nd Hmm hoping its because of bank holiday but did anyone else's take a while to come?

squish7 · 31/08/2018 21:29

Had magpie order today, ordered on the 19th. no dispatch email. lovely stuff! :)

whathappenedtojoosters · 31/08/2018 21:33

Was later than most people to order but my toys for £1 stuff arrived today and I'm so impressed! Got fossil eggs, alien eggs, magic kits, banana squishy type things and llama poop slime, plus some other bits. Thanks to whoever originally posted about the site.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 31/08/2018 21:40

I know it's not quite the specific bargain hunting that the thread is in the spirit of...

If anyone is after anything specific it's worth checking out your Facebook marketplace. I've had a Playmobil Park in my amazon basket for a while (want it for a birthday). Money has become really tight, had a look at Facebook and there was nothing. It saves your searches and lo and behold alerted me that Playmobil was for sale - the park plus extras for £10!

Ewock · 31/08/2018 21:54

Did some RL shopping today, not sure if its been mentioned but B&M have some great toys on sale I picked up a Star wars hot wheels millenium falcon for £15 down from £40 and some die cast Star Wars ships. Loads of other toys on sale as well.

rosablue · 31/08/2018 22:46

Just looked at the Magpie site again and spotted they have a payday offer of 20% extra off everything in the sale with the code Hooray20 (it's on the front page of their site too!)

Not sure how long it's available for though...

PurpleTigerLove · 31/08/2018 23:04

What about Hama beads for the 4 and 7 year old ?. They come in different sizes and there are lots of different boards . Fantastic for their fine motor skills and concentration.

PurpleTigerLove · 31/08/2018 23:07

Ask your sister about the nerf guns , I’m quite anti gun but did give in to nerf ones . Hot wheels were popular here at that age and still are .

donkeysandzebras · 31/08/2018 23:14

I'm not sure how this compares to other Good Housekeeping deals but you can get 6 issues and the "Christmas with Good Housekeeping"
recipe book if you subscribe by 31st Oct. The deal is on the Hearst website.
My toys for a pound delivery arrived today. A huge box but then I did spend over £50

TheMonkeyMummy · 31/08/2018 23:22

Isadora2007 · 31/08/2018 23:56

Tiggles · 01/09/2018 00:52

If you have a star wars or super hero fan there are 19" themed stockings on sale here for £5 free p and p.
Linked to chewbacca but lots of others

imsorryiasked · 01/09/2018 02:04

@TheMonkeyMummy gave you checked local stores for collection? It's showing out of stock for delivery but in stock at a store 10 miles from me.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/09/2018 03:22

There's a 50% off offer site wide at LA LA Land this weekend with the code PAYDAY. I posted a link to them here last year too because they are fab for pop culture gifts (check out the pencil sets!) and the code applies to all sale goods too.

Bear in mind that this seems to be a one woman/one family operation so delivery can take an age and communication is not great. Nevertheless, I've happily shopped here for years and never been disappointed and there are some awesome bargains and unique products to be had.

TheMonkeyMummy · 01/09/2018 06:55

What was the free postage for Lalaland please? I missed it Confused

Reastie · 01/09/2018 07:06

My toys for a pound order came yesterday and very pleased with what I got for the price. The scented kick balls I got need blowing up though and I think you need a pump to do it Confused .
