I’m hosting Christmas for the first time ever this year, and getting very excited! One thing I’d like to add to my existing decorations is a nativity set. Any favourites anyone could recommend? Or ideas for homemade ones (maybe knitted)? I’d love to see photos if you have them but appreciate it’s probably a bit early for that!

Has anyone's Lakeland set been dispatched yet? I had an order confirmation 8 days ago but they said they'd email when it was sent and I haven't had anything yet. I'm going on holidays in a couple of weeks and want to be sure it doesn't end up chucked over my garden wall and sitting in the rain till we get home!

GreenthoughtInAGreenShade · 26/09/2018 13:23

I had mine delivered about 3 days after i ordered it. Plenty of warning emails/texts from delivery system so if yours is delayed, worth a call to lakeland to chase?

FWIW, It is lovely (although, as i am keeping it secret from DD until advent, I haven't had a chance to take it all out and play with it inspect it properly yet). It is more dinky than i was somehow thinking, which is better actually as it goes on a surface top better (i was thinking it would have to be placed on the floor).

Thanks Green, I've just emailed them.

I have a spot earmarked for mine where I think it'll fit nicely, with loads of room for both kids to fit for play : ) Once it arrives, I'm going to have to sit down and have a big play with it put some thought into what order to reveal the characters in.

Ooh yes. I was wondering this. I’m kind of thinking the baby jesus shouldn’t show up until christmas eve? But not sure i can stand the constant “but wheeeeeeere’s the BABY???!?” from DD for 23 days first...

love that knitted set Smile

I'm making that knitted set for Gdcs. Have done this so far - Joseph and 2nd wise man mostly done but not stitched up. Actual knitting is v simple, stuffing and sewing up a bit more of a fiddle.

That looks beautiful @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

I really want the Lakeland set it’s gorgeous, trying to justify the price though...

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/09/2018 20:09

Thank you! Smile

The Lakeland set is back online. Nearly £70 though... for some reason I had £20 in my head. Not sure I can justify that price!

Haven't RTWT but we love our Lanka Kade wooden one.

I’m wondering if people saw a different page linked for the lakeland one - i saw 2017’s version at £59.99 so the £8 price rise this year didn’t come as too much of a shock, but several posters have said they thought it was £20+ which makes me wonder if there was a glitch in the website somehow.

Buddyelf · 04/10/2018 09:09

@GreenthoughtInAGreenShade I spoke to Lakeland last week. I asked why the price had been £29.99 but then gone up to £67.99. They said that must have been an old sale price I was looking at. I was gutted - I was happy to pay £30 for it but can't stretch/justify £70.

ifiwasabutterfly · 05/10/2018 20:27

We have the Lakeland one, paid £50 many years ago so can't ever imagine it was £20. I do love it though.

Costco has quite an impressive range of nativity sets, including a massive one at about 2/3 scale for over £500.00! There are smaller / cheaper ones though!
