Taken the tree down, anyone else?

Have been itching to take it down for a few days so whilst it was all quiet this morning I jumped at the chance. It will take dd half the day to realise and then she will moan for another half day about it going down but I'm expecting it and not bothered. The whole living room feels bigger and fresher now even though it was only a small tree on one of the side tables Confused

I'm doing it today too. Feel a bit sad about it as I love my tree and the lights, but looking forward to getting some space back.
Always think it's a bit sad to have a tree up in January.

Whitecovers · 01/01/2018 11:14

I took mine down Boxing Day. It was a huge real tree and was so hard to drag out, had to saw it in half!

Today I'm ready with the bin bags ready for a big declutter. (After my 4th cup of tea)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/01/2018 11:16

Doing it today. Christmas feels well and truly over. New Year's Eve always marks the end for me.

missyB1 · 01/01/2018 11:17

DH has been doing it this morning, it’s a big fake one which lives in the garage and it’s pouring with rain at the moment. Will take it out later. Can’t wait to give the place a good clean.

Sharpstagram · 01/01/2018 11:19

Ours was taken down at 8:30 this morning after the cat climbed up it and got stuck in the wires for the 17484835th time 🤦🏻‍♀️ Toddler DS hated the cat going near it after he was told not to touch it so it has fostered a bad relationship between them. Happy new year!

BeyondThePage · 01/01/2018 11:19

I want ours down, but health issues mean that I can't do it (I ALWAYS used to do it!).

DH will get round to it "whenever"... which makes me just a litttttttle bit anxious that it will still be there in March....

Scribblegirl · 01/01/2018 11:21

We're doing ours today. Absolutely dreadful tree this year - it's dropped needles like nothing on earth. It's basically just twigs at this point, been dying to take it down.

ColdTeddy · 01/01/2018 11:26

Dh wants to take ours down today. Feels a bit sad taking it down but I'm also sick of picking the needles out of my feet. It's only been up 2 weeks but it's looking very sorry for itself.

onlyonaTuesday · 01/01/2018 11:31

Ours has been down since Friday.
Is lovely to have the room back to normal and everything in its rightful place

Frenchfemme · 01/01/2018 11:36

No!! Mine is staying up until Twelfth Night! It is still looking really healthy, not dropping needles and there is still life left in the batteries for the led lights. However, I never put the tree up before 18 Dec so haven't really had time to get fed up with it. Plus my sister doesn't leave for home until Wednesday so another couple of days to enjoy it.

We did ours yesterday which was a bloody good thing going by the state of us this morning.

isittheholidaysyet · 01/01/2018 11:52

No, there are 12 days to Christmas. It'll be up until the 6th (maybe longer if we feel like it!)

ButtMuncher · 01/01/2018 11:54

I want to take it down today but I have this blasted cold/cough virus and also want to sleep Confused

blueskyinmarch · 01/01/2018 11:58

It's coming down today as DH goes back to work tomorrow and I want him to help me get it out and clean up the house. I really can't wait until next Saturday to have a clean tidy house.

Alittlebitofthis · 01/01/2018 12:46

Mine has been down since Friday. It was really good getting the space back for the toys!

HandsOffMyChocolate · 01/01/2018 13:12

We took ours down yesterday. It's the earliest we've ever done it but completely lost patience with it yesterday and randomly packed it up at 8pm.

Can't say I'm Christian enough to abide by the 12 days of Christmas and celebrating each of the feast days culminating in a grand celebration on 12th night so seems pointless keeping the decorations up for spurious reasons when they were annoying me.

iklboo · 01/01/2018 13:25

Everything's down here too. Nothing worse than coming home from work to see it all up and nothing festive to look forward to.

DurhamDurham · 01/01/2018 13:29

I’m back to work tomorrow so we’ve just taken the tree down. We are leaving a few token decorations up for a few more days. We were very late putting it up this year, it went up on the 22 Dec, so it hasn’t had time to annoy me as much as usual Grin

Auntpetunia2015 · 01/01/2018 13:31

Ours came down yesterday before we set off for our NYE celebrations. But we’re not home till tomorrow and didn’t want to come back to it.

CiderwithBuda · 01/01/2018 13:34

Not yet here. I'm still enjoying it.

I'll start tomorrow with the dining room and will get DS to help me get all the boxes down. Cleaner is in on Friday so I'd like it all down by then.

I will miss all the lights though.

Woolfrai · 01/01/2018 13:36

Ours has also been down for a couple of days. We're in the middle of decorating rooms in our house, so the house is already started to feel cluttered. Clearing away the Christmas decorations has helped restore some normality at home.

MrsUnderwood · 01/01/2018 13:37

Took mine down just now with a catastrophic hangover. I always take it down on New Year’s Day.

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 01/01/2018 14:38

We've done ours today. I love putting it up so much more than taking it down!

BeyondAssignation · 01/01/2018 14:41

Mine is currently naked, but not yet down. Rest of the decs are done though.
