‘I have finished my Christmas shopping, I do not need to buy anymore, the dd’s will be happy with what I have bought and they don’t need any more’. This is what I need to keep telling myself Grin

But I feel sad that I have nothing left to wrap, I have paper left over, then I worry that one child has more to open than the other or I see something they would love.

Anyone else trying hard not to twitch?

I need to go a week without spending. All I need to buy is Christmas food next Saturday, I need to stay strong. Yesterday I twitched and bought dd1 one more present.

Ah I was wondering why there hadn't been a twitch thread yet!

I am trying v v hard not to get more crap little pressies for the children's stockings. I might jump into the abyss and do a stocking for DH and maybe one for myself Xmas Grin

Stay strong OP!

Lovemusic33 · 15/12/2017 21:23

Stocking are over flowing, I can’t squeeze anymore in Grin

I was so tempted by the giant dinosaur plush at wilko’s as dd is desperate for one, luckily wilko’s is quite far away and my car is playing up so I can’t go and get one.

Everything has been bought and wrapped.....but I've ordered a couple of extra bits from Amazon which are coming tomorrow. I doubt I'll be near a shop next week as we have a fun yet busy week. Must stay off the internet...

Sassy306 · 15/12/2017 22:19

I took photos of everything I bought before I wrapped it. They are in a secure folder on my phone so when I start to twitch I look through the folder and so far it's been enough to stop me...not saying I won't do my usual and rush out on Christmas eve and buy more for no reason whatsoever Lol!

SparklingSnowfall · 15/12/2017 22:30

Yes I'm also not buying one more thing but ordered something yesterday and have bought 2 things today, Christmas can't come soon enough!

Lovemusic33 · 15/12/2017 22:36

I always do the Christmas Eve panic.

Also feeling sad that I haven’t bought any Lego this year, so tempted to buy some but I know it won’t get played with (I will play with it but dd’s Won’t).

I twitched today Blush Sainsburys had some bits half price that I knew DS would love, and he does seem to have less than the DDs this year... I need to stop!

traviata · 15/12/2017 23:29

I am twitching but putting the things away for next year. Oh yes I am.

Cataline · 16/12/2017 00:00

I wish I was in a position to twitch! I appear to have spent all of the Christmas budget, I can't remember what I have bought or who I have bought for. I can't even find half the sodding presents I have bought and nothing is wrapped. In fact, I don't even have wrapping paper yet! I have definitely missed out a few people and still have some important bits to get for DS including some more stocking items.
And the tree is still in the garage! Xmas BlushXmas ShockXmas Grin

PastaSauceHoarder · 16/12/2017 00:12

I can't stop buying for my daughter, she has a silly amount of toys and presents.

Shes six months old and loves paper.

Lovemusic33 · 16/12/2017 11:36

I twitched but I bought myself something (new gym trainers) so it doesn’t really count?

I just looked at all the presents I bought the dd’s And it doesn’t look like much at all but I’m trying to remind myself how much it cost and that the dd’s are getting older and gifts are smaller. Even dd1(14) said ‘mum don’t be silly, it will be plenty, all I want is one thing (main present)’.

I twitched. I overheard my foster children very excitedly telling a neighbour how last year they got a massive pile of presents and how amazing it was. They weren't saying it in a grabby way at all, but in absolute happiness at the memory. Their piles are much smaller this year ( because of what they have chosen) so I bought a couple of big things that weren't really expensive to boost their piles.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 16/12/2017 11:47

Sassy that's a great idea!

I am itching to get a Boden onesie for DD. She doesn't need one, and already has brand new Christmas pyjamas in her Christmas Eve box. I am hoping they can no longer guarantee delivery before Christmas!

PorklessPie · 16/12/2017 13:53

I twitched and ordered a hatchimal surprise each for my 3. I've still got the ps4 to pick up next week and a phone. My mind is telling me not to but I'm very close to buying twister.

Haudyerwheesht · 16/12/2017 14:03

Ds announced he wishes he has some dr who Lego. I'm NOT buying it because I don't think he'd play with it and also because I've spent enough - his birthday is next weekend too....

I have just ordered a darth Vader virtual reality smart phone box thingy for £3.99 from Argos though

1happyhippie · 16/12/2017 14:04

I am.
I have wrapped a lot of stuff already and am just about done, but I keep seeing more things I know they will love. Nothing too expensive but their piles are growing 🙈
My eldest (20yrs old), hasn't got much so I do want a few more bits to bulk that out a bit.
I need to keep out the shops really but am in town at least three days next week so I must stay on plan!

wendz86 · 16/12/2017 15:59

I am trying not to buy any more but bought the girls another lol doll each today . Also myself and youngest have secret Santa presents and oldest doesn’t so bought her something as she was upset she didn’t have one .

WellTidy · 16/12/2017 16:13

I am not twitching. I haven't twitched since the year that I bought a last minute Lucy the dog. It was crap. That said, I've bought more Than enough already, as have many people, I suspect.

Haudyerwheesht · 16/12/2017 17:05

I took a photo of their stuff after wrapping. Ds has such a small pile in comparison because dd is still at the large toys stage....

Must not relent

SparklingSnowfall · 16/12/2017 21:05

Well I didn't do very well resisting today 🙄

I think I have avoided the twitch this year simply by being less organized (I have a seven week old). Normally I'd have finished by now. Thus today's purchase was an actual present - I had been struggling to think of one main thing for my 10yo but had a sudden brainwave - and not a twitch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. OK?

PorklessPie · 17/12/2017 20:20

I twitched today and ordered a Lego Star Wars resistance bomber for ds(10). Also a hopping pig for dd Blush.

traviata · 17/12/2017 23:09

just twitched on a gaming magazine for DS but it was only £5

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 17/12/2017 23:12

I'm trying desperately not to twitch. I twitched badly a few years ago and paid over the RRP for a stupid Elsa doll which was a piece of crap... it was a silly joke present really as DD was 17/18 at the time (but was and still is a huge Disney fan!) and I thought it would be oh so hilarious 😂 her face was like "wtf?" 😭 I know I just got swept up in the hype and got carried away! Determined not to be so daft again!

Lovemusic33 · 18/12/2017 15:40

Finding it hard not to twitch today, worried as the pile isn’t as big as previous year, also worried that everything I have bought dd involves making a mess and needing me to help her (slime making kit, bath bomb making kit), I’m worried that most of her presents won’t be able to be played with as I will be busy cooking dinner (single parent, just the 3 of us at home this year).

It will be fine, I don’t need to buy anymore, it will be fine Grin —hides cash card—.
