Twitching support thread

‘I have finished my Christmas shopping, I do not need to buy anymore, the dd’s will be happy with what I have bought and they don’t need any more’. This is what I need to keep telling myself Grin

But I feel sad that I have nothing left to wrap, I have paper left over, then I worry that one child has more to open than the other or I see something they would love.

Anyone else trying hard not to twitch?

I need to go a week without spending. All I need to buy is Christmas food next Saturday, I need to stay strong. Yesterday I twitched and bought dd1 one more present.

I’ve only had a tiny twitch so far on a £3 notebook for DD. I’m going into town to pick up some essentials shortly though however DD is going with me, having been bribed with the promise of a Costa hot chocolate, so at least I can’t twitch for her.

Fuck sake.

Next door neighbour messaged yesterday 'oh I've got a gift for your kids I'll drop it round tomorrow' . Lovely but I've not bought hers anything!

Went to B&M for wee thing for them and spent £39.

I did really well yesterday, I work as a support worker and I got a email yesterday morning asking if I could take a client Christmas shopping on my visit to him, I managed to take him shopping without me buying anything even though it was very tempting. Just a few more days to go and the Christmas food shop to get through, I am staying away from the big supermarkets that stock toys and homewear, will stick to just buying what’s on my food list.

DH and DD1 had some time to kill in town yesterday so they were able to sort the last few bits of actual shopping. So less opportunity to twitch, and less brain work for me (with the baby I’m feeling really quite slow and struggling with ideas whereas normally I really enjoy doing it all).

I just realised I still need to get some more nice foody treats for my parents which will probably mean a trip to TK Maxx. Thankfully will have the DCs with me, so no chance to twitch for them!

Taking annual leave the week before Christmas has been terrible for my wallet. Have been twitching all over the place. Yesterday went to swap a present (wrong size) and bought DD expensive dressing gown and slippers.

I twitched yesterday and spent £30 on two Pokemon plushies for DD and DSD Grin they'll love them.

Keepon123 · 21/12/2017 13:07

I’m wanting to twitch and but the big LOL doll now it’s back in stock, but dd hasn’t asked for it specifically (although I know she’ll love it) although she has asked for a LOL doll and she has a £10 one of them for her stocking.plus if I buy dd that then she’ll have more than ds.

isadora nice idea, he's 30 though so not sure if he would think it a bit weird?

Isadora2007 · 21/12/2017 21:30

I don’t think a wallet for a man is odd...
but as he is an adult I also don’t think him not having gifts is as bad as a younger person/teen.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 21/12/2017 21:46

I can't not get him anything though if his younger brother is having gifts. We buy for everyone whether they are adults or children because there's only a few of us in our family. The wallet could work. I misread your post and only saw the puzzle suggestion Smile

Yep twitched again, lovely big art case from the Disney store for DD, fortunately they break up tomorrow so I physically won't be able to buy anything else!
