Looking for cheap CDs for a 6yo and 8yo, I've got them a cd player each for Christmas. Pop type stuff I think.

Quick heads up for anyone who has an American Express card...their shop local scheme has just started and runs to the 17th December. Ginandsonic check out Amazon for pop compilation cds. My DC love all the old stuff - abba, s club, steps etc and it's all really cheap but hard to find in actual stores. Older now albums too. I guess it depends on whether you are really wanting more up to date stuff but for us the lyrics in pop music have just become really inappropriate for kids that age in the last 10/20 years that we have chosen to go backwards to find stuff that we don't mind them repeating!

For clean bit up to date stuff I'd recommend American Authors or Imagine Dragons. My DS (12) is a big fan of both and my younger DC (10&7) love them too.

i bought dd this CD (or the equivalent back then) I agree about lots of lyrics being unsuitable for young children nowadays so would look at older songs or songs from the shows perhaps.

Ginandsonic - we got DD1 Now That’s What I Call Pop last year which has lots of cheesy pop songs. Both DDs love it. The versions are the ‘clean’ versions but Starships is awful, I can clearly hear the swear words although neither DD has picked up on it. They have asked for another one this year so I’ve gone for Now That’s What i Call Sing which has loads of tracks they will know. Asda had them on 2 for £15 and there are 3 CDs in each compilation.

jed I’ve also bought ABBA and Stevie Wonder which they love (and I much prefer) but they do a lot of the modern songs at choir, dancing and drama so they really want those too.
