Just saw a jewellery advent in Aldi for £6.99. And they had another but I'm not 100% sure what it was, probably a beauty one. It was also £6.99. Both were at the till.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on the thread, I'm very close to finishing but stuck on FIL who has a birthday on 2nd January also, sigh.

He's 76, has no hobbies, PILs have a house in Spain so he's there a lot and that's about it! I'm working to a budget but getting so desperate for ideas, might stretch it a bit.

So far, I've got him some bits and pieces but I don't think he uses most of the little things I've picked up with him in mind over the years. Only idea I've come up with is to get him his favourite tipple but I think £50 worth of Millers might look a bit odd!

Any suggestions??

Oh, and reasonably priced noise cancelling headphones for DH, if possible. The man doesn't understand the budget so would rather not leave the choice to him.

What sort of stuff does he talk about? There’s lots of good books out there. I got my 81 yo Dad Alice Roberts new book.

I usually buy him books, he’s not a big fiction reader but he very much enjoyed the Humans of New York book last year, and The Information Capital - an infographics book on London.

@Fubbs not sure what you’re budget for headphones is but DH has some Monster Ntune ones and really rates them. Amazon have various colours for about £50-£60.

Travel wallet, lightweight cashmere jumper for changing temperatures, posh sprays so don't dehydrate, kindle if he hasn't got one, audible voucher so can take books to listen to by pool, one of those posh roll up Panama sun hats, plant waterers for house at home, Phillips lights you can control by app so house looks lived in when away, a lemon tree ordered to go to house in Spain (as might actually grow there) to go with the gin.
I don't know if that sparks any ideas?

They sell them on amazon though I believe it was cheaper on aliexpress. You’ve probably missed Xmas delivery for there but maybe a tiny outside chance for his bday...

I want to get my elderly neighbour a cafetière (a 1 or 2 cup one at most) but it needs to be very sturdy. Has anyone seen a small cafetière that’s more short and fat than the usual tall and narrow ones? Not too expensive I should add! Thanks!

theclockticks it's not a huge bargain, but I can recommend the stainless steel cafetières for sturdiness. I can't remember which one we have exactly but it looks like this one which is £19. There are smaller ones too which are cheaper?
