My parents still talk about the one they received in 2014! It still completely puzzles them (I've never come clean it's just too funny that all the family still talk about it).

Sorry, I was awake and fretting about relatives and over-reacted. I love a good round robin letter Grin

I need a tax related person to send one!

liquidrevolution · 20/10/2017 16:28

I did a rather racy one a couple of years back. Janet was a hit at the village fete with her dance of the seven veils and Roy had an unfortunate gardening accident where he lost a testicle...

liquidrevolution · 20/10/2017 16:32

The trick is to get a few details about the person you are sending too and include them.

I would love to do a doom and gloom one full of bad news and misery this year as opposed to upbeat but i guess it wouldnt be the done thing. Smile

Makemineacabsauv · 20/10/2017 20:43

My last one included them
Being in charge of their local branch of the caravan club (other mnetter’s request) and as I was posting from Scotland I included Roy out being political during the referendum and being pissed of cat being passed over as captain of the golf club even though he’d been ever so helpful during Royal Troon among others! Janet was chief if local bake off! They’d arranged to take their caravan close to sil but would be a bit cold to stay I. It!

MrsK · 21/10/2017 07:08

I’ve got a rough draft of my J&R letter, although it’s written in the first person. I’ve included some MN favourites, a vague mention of “that other business “, Bunty McKinley & an unfortunate diving board accident in Guernsey. My Janet & Roy have had a pot plant situation & gone all farrow & ball

ruby1234 · 21/10/2017 13:30

Happy to send one - I'm in York.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 21/10/2017 14:13

As I said, I am happy to send one, just dm me the details and what you think would work. I’m in Essex.

BeQuietAndEatYourGreens · 06/12/2017 20:19

I'd love, love, love one please! My parents woukd be so baffled.

Harvestmoonsobig · 06/12/2017 20:26

Will send from Norwich 🤪

Hatstand · 06/12/2017 21:29

@Latenightreader are you still looking for a Cambridge-Manchester trade?!

GlomOfNit · 06/12/2017 23:59

I'll do one from Oxfordshire (shit! got to write the rest of my cards, too) if someone please please does one for my PIL?

changing the names to something other than Janet and Roy seems sensible. Grin

fluffydragons · 07/12/2017 00:17

Happy to do one from Scotland!! Would love one for my parents.

LaughingLlama · 07/12/2017 00:23

I would love to do this to a few people i know. Tempted to send one to my husband and my parents. Even my sister. Oh the fun I could have.
Has anyone got any other examples. I just love reading J & R letters every year.

PasDeDeux · 07/12/2017 11:45

I was wondering the other day where the Janet and Roy thread is! I lack the creativity and writing to actually get involved but love reading what other people come up with Xmas Grin

MrsK · 07/12/2017 12:00

Here’s my effort, I wrote it with a certain person in mind.

Dear - insert name-

As the nights draw in & I sit here with my glass of sherry ( thank you for your Aldi tip btw, Roy & I often enjoy a glass of Toro Loco & think of you all) my thoughts inevitably turn to Christmas & reaching out to touch dear friends.

What a year 2017 has been, you’ll be relieved to hear Roy’s nemesis has decamped to Montepulciano so we can finally put the whole “pot plant” hoo ha behind us. Sadly, the Ficus never fully recovered. Roy retired in February so off we went to Guernsey to regroup. In hindsight the ghost walk around St Peters Port was probably not the best way to start our new journey into retirement. Poor Roy was rather spooked which probably led to his unfortunate accident on the diving board.

After that little incident we thought a meditative retreat in Assisi would be just the ticket. Having felt the vibrant presence of peace & glowing with the ennobling fusion of life-affirming conscious living we were ready for the whirlwind that was Keith & Veritys wedding. It was such a shame you were unable to join us for the celebrations. Their first dance has been quite the hit on YouTube, who would have thought a mix of your beautiful & gangnam style would blend so seamlessly

The rest of the year has seen us focus on home improvements at Chez Janroy. After many weekends perusing Farrow & Ball paintcharts we finally decided on a colour for the lounge. Roy favoured Nancy’s blushes, a little to close to home after the “other business “I felt, so we plumped for arsenic instead.

I think your letter must’ve gone astray last year, as I don’t know how it all worked out with Eunice & that funny little dog. But, as luck would have it we will be in your neck of the woods on the 29th on our way to Bunty McKinley’s annual potluck buffet . Roy has taken up cycling & I’m sure he will badger -name- for tips. On that note our festive missive draws to close & all that is left is to raise a glass of Aldi’s Premium cream Sherry to you & yours

Joyeux noël
Janet & Roy x
