WhoseGonnaDriveUHomePorkPie · 28/09/2017 22:36

Anyone think the Nintendo Switch may get reduced before Christmas? Even 10% off would be a big help. I don't want to leave it and they sell out though, ds wants it for a joint birthday and xmas present and there is literally nothing else he wants!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 28/09/2017 22:42

shark chalks, paintbrushes and water to paint fences, tent, bilibo, scooter/scuttlebug, lots of bits for potion making (water containers with tap from £1 shop, fish bowl - poundshop, food colouring, sticks for mixing), kites, balls, exercise trampoline, large digger cars.

Snooky17 · 28/09/2017 22:42

If you know a student there is currently 10% off Nintendo shop on student beans (my son is a student if you need a code ) @whosegonnadriveuhomeporkpie

Chocolateteabag · 28/09/2017 22:46

@Curlyfrizzball - thanks for the Book People heads up! I'd forgotten about Top cashback and now also got a free 2018 RHS diary which will be perfect for DH's Granny (she has the 2017 version and seems to like it)

@Reastie - I had an email today saying my Goodhousekeeping subscription gift was on it's way - no mention of what it was so we'll see if an EB mug shows up!

VoldemortsNipple · 28/09/2017 22:49

@TimeForMy10thCuppa dd was listening to the Harry Potter audio books from around age 6 but that was when we were only up to year 3 so as the books got darker, dd got older. She was lucky to be part of the generation that grew up with Harry. As somebody else said the illustrated ones are beautiful and I'm collecting them to share with my dgd when she gets older.

However, I think HP is better read from around age 10 as there are so many threads that run through the books and the ways the characters mature through the series is very relatable to teens/teens, which is why I think it's been so successful to that generation.

Ronald Dahl is perfect for emerging readers

chicaguapa · 28/09/2017 23:08

I don't think the Switch itself will be reduced as I've never seen Nintendo reduce their consoles, but you might be able to use a discount code from somewhere that sells them to get some money off. Tesco recently had £30 off a £150 spend and PP have got one from Very with a new customer discount.

Ginxed · 28/09/2017 23:10

Does anyone have any good bargainous ideas for cookery gifts for Dd(8)? She loves cooking, I'm thinking of small sized oven gloves, a cute mixing bowl but what elae can I add?

yumyumpoppycat · 28/09/2017 23:20

Ginxed baking themes are good, a cool cake tin, cute cookie cutters inside, icing pens etc?

Ginxed · 28/09/2017 23:30

Ooh yumyum icing pens are a good idea! We have tons of cookie cutters already thanks to Aldi and Ikea but I wonder if I can find something cool and unusual . . .

debbiewest0 · 28/09/2017 23:34

I asked early learning centre about the birthday codes and the lady said they weren't working at moment anyway while the 3for2 was on. Even on stuff not in the 3for2. The site just doesn't recognise the codes until the promotion ends next week. Bit annoying if you wanted to use your voucher for a birthday gift as theyve got a time limit on but there we go.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/09/2017 23:55

Maybe a bit young for your dd Ginxed but we used to have a really large fairy shaped cutter and it was quite fun at parties to let the kids decorate the cookies from it with queens glitter pens. hmm 8 - so maybe purple glitter pens and unicorn cookie cutter Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2017 00:01

Have ordered one for my dd Blush a PURPLE unicorn cookie cutter £1.98 amazon

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2017 00:04

A bit impractical and expensive but a unicorn sprinkle shaker ...bonkers. amazon

Rockchick1984 · 29/09/2017 00:36

TalkingOrmer · 29/09/2017 06:04

Ginxed maybe a nice apron? a personalised one would be nice.

christmasunicorn · 29/09/2017 06:15

@Rockchick1984 hush I hope it works for you

Draggles glittering garden hatchimals are down to £47.44 on Amazon today.

margaritasbythesea · 29/09/2017 06:25

Ginxed Poundland do the Jane Asher range with lots of cooking basics like bowls for a pound in pretty colours, don´t they?

I got Dcs some chocolate moulds too. YOu can get lollies with sticks too and a cute little double boiler (she uses with supervision).

I think I bought some of this stuff in Poundland and it was in exactly the same packaging as the Chinese import shops here, so make your own call on that one!

Where I am Haribo do a cute box of sweets for cake decoration. I don´t know if they do in the UK.

christmasunicorn · 29/09/2017 06:26

Tiptoes in quietly.... so aside from an outfit for ds2, a Pokemon tcg binder for ds1, a torch each of them and a couple of blind bags for stockings..... I am done for them. Just dd and dh to go. Oh and resist the twitch...

Annwithnoe · 29/09/2017 06:34

How did Robert fare out last year? Was he worth the space he takes up?
DC were reminiscing last night about a visit to Hamleys in London when they were smaller that amazing toy shop and DD said do you remember the huuuuuge unicorn?

Finally joining the party, just wanted to say a big thank you for last year. This thread helped me get sorted before the arrival of minidibdab at the start of November. So behind this year tho, must try harder!
