Looking for a job lot of advent calendar fillers if anybody has any ideas? DS loves any kind of cheap plastic tat Hmm but it all needs to be small enough to go in the individual boxes.

I have just been testing out some cheap magic tricks from Aliexpress that I ordered for the DC's advent calendars. I am very impressed! The prices below are what I paid when I ordered them. Prices vary daily and are often, inexplicably, cheaper on the mobile app.

Oreo cookie magic trick, 59p. Very realistic cookies and very easy to do. No instructions, but there are .

Ball into box magic trick, 28p. Pretty easy to learn. No instructions,

Coin escape trick, 26p. Easy to learn. No instructions,

And here’s some other good buys I’ve had from Aliexpress. I have posted some of these before…

Nerf bullet holding wrist band, I paid 58p, but the seller I purchased from is sold out. If you want to take a chance on a new seller, this one has them for 33p

Set of Minecraft minifigs, I paid £5.54 for set X0127. Not genuine Lego but I was impressed by the quality (better than Wilko etc). You’ll have to find building instructions online though.

Outfit for American Girl / 18” doll, £2.62. The t-shirt feel a bit cheap (it's made of a very thin shiny type of fabric), but otherwise I was very pleased.

[[https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs-yellow-backpack-fit-18-inch-1-3-American-girl-doll-doll-accessories-only-sell-bag/1000003666209.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3lL7ZY Plush Rucksack for American Girl / 18” doll], £2.25. I am so impressed with this. I bought the Stitch one. All zips etc work and the straps are adjustable.

Underwear for American Girl / 18” doll, £1.47. Very impressed with these too.

Shoes for American Girl / 18” doll, £2.04. I ordered a pair of the black patent school shoes and the quality is amazing.

Black magnetic ‘ear expander’ style earrings, 64p (price seems to have gone up now, but there are many other sellers). Bought these earlier this year for DanTDM-obsessed DS. They work really well, although I’d be wary of giving anything with magnets from Aliexpress to younger children in case they were to swallow the magnets. Other magnetic items have required a dab of superglue to keep the magnets in place.

Copper Wire Mini Fairy lights, I bought some to liven up Barbie’s house last Christmas. They were £1.39 and worth every penny. The original button battery is still going strong.

I'll try that link again...

@Coldilox, how big are the boxes on your DS's advent calendar? The ball in box magic trick I linked to is pretty small. I can measure it if you like? Also, the Minecraft Lego figures are small when disassembled.

singadream · 03/10/2017 11:24

I am in a big M&S right now and they are putting out the kids' Christmas pyjamas

Coldilox · 03/10/2017 11:32

Sock Thanks but at 3 he might be a bit young for those? The boxes are small, maybe 2" by 3" from meomory. Last year he got a little plastic dinosaur and a chocolate coin in each one

SockEatingMonster · 03/10/2017 11:37

Yes, I think 3 would be too young, sorry!

ThatsWotSheSaid · 03/10/2017 11:47

Does anyone have the proper 'elf on the shelf'? There really expensive on Amazon.
Is it worth getting the expensive one or will a cheap copy do the job?

Hadiever · 03/10/2017 11:52

Thanks everyone for info on the magnetic tiles. I have ordered a set Grin

Wiifitmama · 03/10/2017 11:56

I am looking for one of those "snap circuit" sets for my nephew. They are around £25 everywhere I have seen but I need to spend under £20. If anyone sees them for less or with a code, I would be grateful for a heads up!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 03/10/2017 11:57

Angels Face website has 15% off with code HELLO15

Marshmallowpops · 03/10/2017 12:02

Hello! Just joined mumsnet but I've been reading this thread and got the 3d pen, hotel chocolate and good housekeeping with EB mug so thank you! Resisted the bilibos though ;)

For anyone who wants Star Wars Lego advent calendar:

Not sure whether already been mentioned or there's a better deal, but Star Wars Lego advent calendar is available at Hobbycraft for £24.99, so if you do the 15% first order it would be £21.25, or I found this code for 20% off Hobbycraft : HCAF20 , making it £20 but haven't tried it so it might not work!

Hopefully useful to someone! They also have the other Lego advent calendars for £20 so same discounts would apply..

asuwere · 03/10/2017 12:22

ThatsWotSheSaid I bought a cheap (

asuwere · 03/10/2017 12:22

Oops Xmas Grin

allthingsred · 03/10/2017 12:39

Sorry
Does anyone have the link for 3d pen please

macnab · 03/10/2017 12:42

Have had so many great suggestions for gifts from this thread! thanks everyone!

Any idea where's good to buy nice coffee mugs? For my boss, he loved his Illy mug but it got chipped and moaned at everyone in the office so something along those lines would be great.

JangleJangleJangle · 03/10/2017 12:44

Picked up a 2 way sequin Harry Potter girls top in Primark this morning along with a Gryffindor notepad - both of which had been out of stock for weeks.

cailingaelach · 03/10/2017 12:48

Have also got a few bargains thanks to this thread, thanks everyone! Spotted the Playmobil 123 Train with Track on amazon last night, £14.59..it's £29.99 on playmobil website. Also worth keeping an eye on Amazon.de for Playmobil, they sometimes have really good reductions.

luckiestgirl · 03/10/2017 12:57

These magnetic tiles do look great - the reviews say they're good for many ages too

MegBusset · 03/10/2017 13:08

Hello bargain hunters! Think it's my first post on the thread but I've been following for a while and bought stuff using the Hotel Chocolat and Body Shop codes so thank you!

I'm desperate for a Seasalt code - they seem to be rare as hens' teeth but if anyone comes across one I'd be eternally grateful!

BadgerFace · 03/10/2017 13:24

cailingaelach Is it easy to order from Amazon.de? Do you just do it as normal and plug in a UK address and they up the postage costs? I am after the Playmobil 123 Ark for DD2 and it seems much cheaper on there than Amazon UK!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 03/10/2017 13:27

Email from Micro Scooter announcing a small sale!

Gooseysgirl · 03/10/2017 13:42

Just got the playmobil hospital on Amazon for £42.99, not as good as the Asda deal a couple of weeks ago but decided not to wait any longer.

I love all things Christmas I promise!!!! But that effing silly git elf on the shelf is a pain in the arse... I did it once, the kids (who were then 3 and 4) did not get on board with the idea and I just did not have the time for it... sorry

bluesky · 03/10/2017 13:47

www.silver.uk.com

have amazing jewellery and it always comes nicely boxed, they have 20% off ALL orders with code AWE20 this week.
