Is Pickering within travelling distance?

Minster2012 · 03/08/2017 07:14

Hi, first MN post ! Smile

Been lurking a while loving the thread & stealing ideas, gained a Christmas app to log presents already bought & been spurred on to buy more, present drawer is now smuggly filling up.
Think this thread will help me through some boring IVF months ahead putting Frosties back prior to the festivities so glad of distractions! Cake

Having shamelessly stolen many ideas already what do you get DSisIL (x2) & a DH who hates little bits or wallets/clothes? & hipster DB & girlfriend (35yrs) no ideas?!

If anyone lives in the country...a book called "the Foragers cookbook" for MIL & a book called "the handmade apothecary" £5 for 1x DsisIL

Grin thanks!

Hi Minster, welcome!

Hopefully you'll find some good ideas on this thread, as well as the bargains thread.

VivaJen · 03/08/2017 08:08

Breakfast with Father Christmas sounds awesome @FireflyGirl. What about a Christmas show (not necessarily a Panto)? There are usually family friendly ones on. Check out your local library, they are usually very knowledgeable about local events (even ones that are a few months away).

Welcome @Minister2012. What about stripey tshirts, beard oil or some rare vinyl for your hipsters?

Minster2012 · 03/08/2017 09:00

Viva beard oil would be very ironic as never has he been able to grow a hair on his chinny chin chin! He's more skinny topknot type! T shirt good idea, might look, listening to your stories of xmas eve boxes is adorable, never did any of that, if have kids then definitely would, this year first with nephews so will be spoilt, always loads of friends' kids that get little bits & bobs I can indulge!

1st year doing xmas at ours for DH & I, a bit scared but in awe of your food porn, can't wait to do lists for that! Yay for Xmas food!

Wheelycote · 03/08/2017 13:21

Afternoon all! Catching up on thread

tootsieglitterballs · 03/08/2017 13:30

Found a couple more stocking fillers this week, so DS1s stocking is well on its way!

No idea what to get hubby this year... I'd love to get him a knife making course so may research that a bit more.

I've been looking at the santa trains round here - we've got 3 different places running them! Think we will do NYMR though. Tickets go on sale in a couple of weeks, and what with our due date being last week of November, we need to book the one closest to Christmas just in case I do end up with a section again...

FridgeCut · 03/08/2017 22:03

Knife making course sounds amazing! DH has been asking what I want for my birthday, I might think about a good craft course. I did a great cake course at Leith's a while back.

Shock 142! the days are flying by

NoWordForFluffy · 04/08/2017 08:04

Ooh. A knife-making course? My DH would love that, I reckon. Finding time to do it is something else though.

And it's seriously crazy how fast it's going now. But once we are past 150 it does feel like it goes faster!

tootsieglitterballs · 04/08/2017 08:54

@FridgeCut @NoWordForFluffy - knife making looks fab - I've looked briefly before, and they do look amazing. I'm trying to find one either in Yorkshire or somewhere where it would be nice for us to go away for a few days. Shall report back if/when I find something!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/08/2017 09:26

Ah, good call re a trip away! I'd be interested to see what you find. 😁

tootsieglitterballs · 04/08/2017 11:37

@NoWordForFluffy I shall check back in when I know more 😊. I'm wondering if there happens to be anywhere that does a knife course near the Emma bridgewater factory or Harry Potter studio tour... 2 birds with 1 stone and all that!!

VivaJen · 04/08/2017 12:12

Ooooh the Emma Bridgewater Factory - I would LOVE to go there. Probably best for the bank balance that I don't though!

73kittycat73 · 04/08/2017 14:20

Hi Minster2012, welcome. Xmas Smile
Wow, the Christmas topic seems to have exploded today! It must be getting nearer....Xmas Grin

tootsieglitterballs · 04/08/2017 16:03

@VivaJen I'm desperate to go, I keep dropping no so subtle hints to hubby, but he hasn't picked up on them yet!! Their afternoon tea looks yummy too!

SideOrderofSprouts · 04/08/2017 22:34

We're going to need another thread soon!

YY this thread will filll up before Rudolph Day I reckon.

I am seriously thinking of putting a new Laptop on my Wish List this year. This one is a cast from from my DD ( she got it Yr 6 , she's now going into Yr 11) when she got an iPad.
(I got her cast off phones when she upgraded too, so I need something for me , I reckon).

T'other day I drove past a tree laden with conkers, we used to take the DC out to a big local park to collect them in bags.
Signs of Autumn (and Primark are selling jumpers now Xmas Grin )

NoWordForFluffy · 05/08/2017 08:26

Morning!

ConstantlyCooking · 05/08/2017 09:01

Morning all. Planning to start Christmas vodka today plus may attempt almond vodka and homemade vanilla essence.

VivaJen · 05/08/2017 09:26

Good morning Festive Planners, today I will be making Christmas Pudding and Cake! DH wants to go up to Glasgow so I think I will pop into Lakeland and get some bottles ready to make festive booze of some sort.

Hope you all have a great weekend

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/08/2017 13:35

Afternoon all. Just back from my holidays to a damp and drizzly England. I'm going to get my slippers on and crochet away this afternoon before I tackle the mountain of laundry.

Nothing significant bought for Christmas yet. I've got a couple of books for DS and some lovely nail polish for both DDs but once I get paid this month I'll get cracking properly.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/08/2017 13:49

It's a gorgeous day on the NW coast!

I hope you had a nice holiday, Woolly. 😁
