DH took me to the Berlin Christmas markets as a treat last December. It was so much fun! A lot colder than I expected. The difference between -1 - 3 versus 4-8 degrees was a lot! Amazing fun though, didn't really buy stuff to bring back as a lot of it stuff I really wouldn't buy if not for the novelty of the setting, but did buy lots of food and drink while wandering around.

I mentioned a Christmas Market to DH , his little eyes lit up at the thought of Belgian Beer Tents Xmas Grin

"With or without the DC"? he asked.

Mmmmm without I reckon. DS will be 18 and wouldn't go for it.
DD might like it but I reckon she'd get Hmm after a while .

73kittycat73 · 30/06/2017 01:23

Sounds great Flash, I bet the atmosphere was fantastic?
Good luck on your search 70. As Denise once said (Royle), "Christmas isn't really for children." Xmas Grin

flapjackfairy · 30/06/2017 14:42

Oh rip denise royle aka caroline aherne!
So sad to think we will never see another royle family ( or victoria wood ) christmas special !

QuimJongUn · 30/06/2017 19:55

@73kittycat73 I saw your tweet 😁 I love Christmas UK, I've been obsessed a fan for about five years now. It wouldn't be Christmas without them. Christmas in July is so well covered - I'm already lusting after just about everything! They're such friendly chaps too Grin

TelephoneTree · 30/06/2017 20:00

I adore Christmas markets. I don't care how bad or good they are, as long as I can go after dark and eat hot roasted chestnuts and drink copious volumes of mulled wine Grin

Ah 70 you beat me to it Xmas Grin

I am babysitting my niece and dog sitting 2 puppies tonight. Everyone is snoring their heads off!

I love a Christmas market. I managed to drag DH to one a few years ago. He was very reluctant until he realised that they also sell lots of food and beer. He is now a fan.

Prague was beautiful but I also quite like Bath if we're not able to go abroad 🎄

73kittycat73 · 01/07/2017 00:53

Hi QuimJongUn, does that make me famous then? Xmas Grin I've been following them on their site for about 2-3 years. No blogs so far this year but they are tweeting the Christmas ranges, so that's something. Xmas Smile
Oh yes, 70, it is the first! Wow, the year is going so quick. (She says thinking it's only two months 'till the BERS> Xmas Grin )

SideOrderofSprouts · 01/07/2017 13:42

My claim to
Fame for the Christmas uk site is that my tree was on it a couple of years ago

I need a new tree. Our real one isn't going to survive until Christmas, sadly.

Where can I get a decent pre-lit one which isn't going to cost a small fortune?!

73kittycat73 · 01/07/2017 18:30

NoWordForFluffy have you tried Argos online? I know they have a slimline pop up tree for about a fiver. They might have other offers on?

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/07/2017 18:33

I got a lovely one for the dining room from Wilkinson's last year. Our main tree was from B&Q but it's a right balls ache to put together compared to the Wilko one.

RIP fluffy's tree 🌲 Xmas Sad

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2017 18:41

I vaguely looked at Argos. I'd rather pay enough to get something good, but not a daft amount. Maybe £80 ish or so? I'll look again.

I didn't look at Wilko; will rectify that.

Poor tree! 🎄 😢

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/07/2017 20:03

I'd love a Balsma Hill tree but they are £££££ Xmas Sad

I'm planning to watch QVC CIJ (Christmas in July) , though I'll be at work on the day, I can wait up till midnight and if its a tree, order one.
Last time they did a TSV (Todays Special Value) they sold out really quick.
And they do lengthy demonstrations, rather than a photo still.

Our last tree was an Amazon or eBay rush job which arrived on the 20th Dec many years ago and I hated it , even hours spent arranging and wrapping lights and baubles, there wasn't an "Ahhhhh^ sigh of love.
Last year we recycled it , so this year, I'll buy one I like Xmas Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2017 21:17

I'll be at work then too...hmmmm!

Balsam Hill are lovely (and on sale now), but I can't justify £170 on a tree! I wish I could!

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/07/2017 00:53

That's lovely. Xmas Grin

AnyFarrahFowler · 02/07/2017 07:46

Still waiting to stop feeling festive and start feeling summery again, but it's not happening! I've been awake since 7am (DS still asleep!!!!) so I've been enjoying baby kicks and doing online shopping for Christmas.
If anyone is looking for personalised clothing/gifts, My 1st Years currently have up to 50% off.
In terms of trees, I'm going for a really small real one this year, but our fake tree was from B&Q 2/3 years ago and it's really good quality for what we paid.

AnyFarrahFowler · 02/07/2017 07:47

Ooh that's a good one, Fluffy!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2017 07:55

I spent bloody hours trying to find a reasonable tree! The things I now know about artificial trees which I didn't before! 🎄😂

Hopefully it's a nice tree and lasts a good few years.

Where did everybody go?! It's a bit quiet in here!

BiddyPop · 03/07/2017 08:31

I was doing stuff all weekend (sailing and prepping for interview and hosting family) but currently on the train to work

Hi

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 03/07/2017 09:16

Morning all, I've been busy over the weekend preparing/packing for my holiday in 2 weeks and redecorating the dining room. I have made time for some Christmas activities, I've started putting together my hampers. I'm currently sat on the trail enjoying the view of the pond whilst my Dd enjoys a nap, I'm just going over my lists and checking my spreadsheet. Hope you've all had a lovely weekend Smile
