Hi Everyone. Xmas Smile Today I joined twitter for the first time ever. I'm not sure about the '@' and '#' yet though, it will take a bit of getting used to! lol I joined to follow this site: www.christmasuk.org/ It goes full pelt from 100 days to go, sometime in September, but it has started to update already. It's good in July as it gathers together all the blogs of people that attend the launch of major shops Christmas ranges. You get lots of photos and descriptions of things to coo over. Xmas Smile

SideOrderofSprouts · 26/06/2017 19:59

This rainy weather and drop in temperature is only making me feel more festive! DS&DD matching Christmas pyjamas arrived today, very pleased with them. And DH & I have discussed Christmas lists, so I know what I'm looking out for in the sales.
I've also downloaded a Christmas countdown app today Grin

HairsprayBabe · 27/06/2017 12:23

I have been burning autumnal yankee candles, and have just had a chat with DP regarding plans for christmas if he still hasn't passed his test by then...

I know I should learn too, so it isn't all on him!

73kittycat73 · 28/06/2017 02:10

Hi all. Xmas Smile
Does anybody use a dedicated Christmas forum? I go here: mymerrychristmas.com/forum/
It's a very nice site but has more of an American userbase (You can get very jellous of all the lovely Autumnal decorations they post and all the Halloween stuff! They really go for it.) though there are a few of us UK users on too. I was just looking for a change, or maybe a more UK based one?
I was also thinking today, if you could have one Christmas wish, what would it be? Mine would be for it to snow and lay on Christmas day. Xmas Grin What would yours be?

tootsieglitterballs · 28/06/2017 07:42

@73kittycat73 Ah yes, snow on Christmas Day. Actually, snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is just the best day, so to wake up with snow would just make it even more amazing! And building snowmen would certainly keep children entertained !

I don't know about snow. If it came and went without freezing and being lethally slippery it'd be OK. Otherwise I can't stand it.

tootsieglitterballs · 28/06/2017 08:30

Yes, it would have to bugger off again by 27th!

HairsprayBabe · 28/06/2017 09:16

It snowed on Boxing day 2 years ago by us, settled for a few hours and waa gone by the morning, that was great, we got some amasong photos!

BiddyPop · 28/06/2017 10:00

Oooh, snow would be fab! As long as it's proper fluffy snow, not the wet miserable stuff we normally get here😀

I've been having a mad mad month for June, which isn't getting any quieter yet. Big sailing regatta and Cub camp are both over. I still have a few sailing lessons in my course. DD finished weeknight training last night, she has a full day training and a 1 day racing this weekend, school finishes Friday, 6th class graduation is today (and 5th do the "hosting" so I was baking all night last night), there are books all over the spare room still and I have visitors from the airport for lunch on Saturday and no notion of what to feed them. And I need to send out "end of year" and lost property emails to Cubs parents too, and finalise accounts.

But camping gear is back in storage, clothes all washed, kitchen is still functioning ok, and I can manage on no sleep until my work trip next week - right?!

BiddyPop · 28/06/2017 10:02

My merry Christmas site has a lovely podcast - they had to change last year to subscription due to copyright but it's cheap for the year, lovely music, and interesting stories. Maybe $20 or so.

I miss Live365 thought, it had a few lovely Christmas stations, I need to find good mixes online again.

VivaJen · 28/06/2017 10:19

Ok so I just cleared out my Christmas savings account and booked a mini break to Berlin for the Christmas markets in December!!! Soooo excited.

NotAPuffin · 28/06/2017 10:44

It snowed on Christmas Eve on our first Christmas in our first house, and it stuck. It was absolutely gorgeous. We moved house on the 21st of December last year so this year is pretty much our first proper Christmas in our new house, so I'm hoping for similar : )

FireflyGirl · 28/06/2017 12:26

OOh! Envy of your Christmas market trip, Viva. I lived in Germany years ago, and love the markets, but we haven't been in about 6 years. Not sure if we'll make it this year either - 2 year old DS would love it for about 30 minutes and then want to cause havoc!

Thought you guys would appreciate what happened to me yesterday - I was very busy at work, and my boss (who is a feeder!) decided to cheer me up by bringing me the (unopened) tin of M&S biscuits his sister got him for Christmas. He wound it up and left it playing 'Jingle Bells' on my desk whilst I was trying to type up important Court documents.

Also, if anyone is into crafting, Hobbycraft have got their Christmas card making range in now.

BiddyPop · 28/06/2017 12:32

Xmas Grin I like the sound of your boss Firefly!!

flapjackfairy · 28/06/2017 14:01

Ooh i am off to the christmas markets in austria and germany this dec. Shouldve gone last year but my bil got ill and my sister couldnt go so carried it over to this year.
I am going with dear sister, niece and my 2 daughters. V excited !

I need to do a Christmas market somewhere. Need to get my arse into gear!

HairsprayBabe · 29/06/2017 09:44

I would love to go to a real one, we are Birmingham, so the german market makes town very manic in December!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2017 10:01

We've gone to Manchester in the past. It's way too crowded for small kids though.

Our hometown has a very poor, mini, German market. Best bit is the sausage stall! 😂 🌭

BiddyPop · 29/06/2017 10:28

We were in Vienna in early December back in 2004 - it was freezing cold, so ideal for gluhwein consumption!! - and we visited quite a few markets around the city.

I'd love to go back to a similar city (or even Viennna again) now that DD is big enough we could enjoy it again. (2004 was pre-DD). But unlikely this year as we are always mad mad busy in December (and I have Cubs every Saturday - I could possibly take a weekend off but I will probably wait until next year when DD is into Scouts (Thursdays meetings), she moves up in January, and it would only be me missing it).

73kittycat73 · 29/06/2017 14:39

I'd love to do foreign markets one day. Our city does do a Christmas market but apparently it's mostly food.
