A little early for Christmas talk? Blush

First year single and in new home with DC and thinking that Christmas might actually be lovely. Christmas Day will be small no in-laws or my family.
(Although Stbxh welcome for as much of the day as he wants)

Will have hot chocolate and watch the snowman and the snowdog Christmas eve.

What are you looking forward to? Do you have lovely Christmas traditions?

I can also look forward to DH's Chrimbo dinner: Epic and delicious!

A few days off work to spend with my own children and Christmas dinner.

AuntieStella · 11/11/2016 07:18

"A little early for Christmas talk?"

Yes, because there's a whole topic for it, including chatty threads about what people are most looking forward too.

Now, I know last year was an exceptionally considerate year and people didn't start breaking Christmas threads out of the topic until the very end of November (almost Advent Sunday) but it's not even halfway through the month yet.

catmombaby16 · 11/11/2016 07:19

I'm 38 wks pregnant so I'm looking forward to our first Christmas with our first baby.

But also really looking forward to a LARGE glass of prosecco & a baileys coffee Christmas morning!

Not sure what we are doing Christmas Day yet, being pulled from pillar to post at min, but I will just see how we feel once baby is here I think!

annabanana23 · 11/11/2016 07:20

You could have easily avoided clicking stella.....but no, you clicked to put your miserable opinion on it.

OpheIiaBaIIs · 11/11/2016 07:24

DD and DH's faces when they open their gifts
That lovely, buzzy atmosphere on Christmas morning when I'm back and for to the kitchen checking on dinner, everyone's got a glass of cava, and we're all getting acquainted with our treats
Seeing kids on new bikes outside
DH's compliments when I'm all done up in my new Christmas Day dress
All the laughter
Having a whisky with DH before bed when all is glowy, silent and calm

...and that's just Christmas Day! There's the whole run-up first Xmas Grin

Fuckingitup · 11/11/2016 07:25

Sorry, I know better, should be in Christmas topic. Will get it moved.

I'm not a naturally ho ho ho person though, normally avoid that area!

AuntieStella · 11/11/2016 07:25

Yes, the reason there is a Christmas topic is because this is a miserable time of year for many people.

And keeping it off the main boards is one way of being considerate to them.

It's not trying to 'spoil' Christmas FFS. I post in the topic all the time!

But, despite influx of new posters, last year MNetters showed the greatest level of consideration in actually using the topic than I had seen in the previous decade or so, and it was a welcome evolution. I had hoped that it would continue, as a good facet of how MN is changing.

AuntieStella · 11/11/2016 07:26

FuckingItUp Thanks Star

Fuckingitup · 11/11/2016 07:28

I know, good reasons. Wasn't thinking this morning.

laurzj82 · 11/11/2016 07:42

OH comes home from working overseas on 18th Dec. He's been gone since mid August. Can't wait! Smile

And DD will be nearly 3 so understands more and will be so excited too. Going to make sure we do lots of Christmasey things in the run up to make it more magical.

Eek! Literally cannot wait!

miserablesod · 11/11/2016 07:53

Its not really early though is it. Christmas is only 6 weeks away Hmm its not like its the middle of June and we're talking Christmas is it. Blimey.

Fuckingitup · 11/11/2016 08:00

Aw, laurz how lovely for you have all.

Have reported thread, maybe respectful not to post until it's moved.

Although if it gets filled with lists of toys I might have to hide it myself!

Sallystyle · 11/11/2016 08:13

I am taking 10 days off work, so can't wait for that.

Good food, good company, seeing the children excited.

Sallystyle · 11/11/2016 08:19

OP, you have done nothing wrong posting this here.

People can hide the thread if they so wish. Yes, Xmas is a miserable time for some people but it is an open forum. Do not worry.

OpheIiaBaIIs · 11/11/2016 08:42

What U2 said.

GloGirl · 11/11/2016 09:00

Just report the thread if you think it should be moved next time. No need to being down a cheery thread.

I've just started a rapid weight loss programme so I'm looking forward to having a healthy Christmas for the first time and enjoying myself but not binge eating. This is a really good time to start because I have lots to look forward to.

And I'm really excited about taking my kids to see Santa!

ChubbyMummy12 · 11/11/2016 09:16

The food!!! Grin

And seeing my children open their presents.

attheendoftheday · 11/11/2016 09:22

A trip to lapland with the kids and my new mini tree for the dining room (with a steampunk theme).

Come over the the Christmas board, it is lovely there!
