Just popped to Tesco and picked up this Scalextric in store for £20 - the online Tesco Direct is selling it for £30 and other stores retailing it for quite a bit more than that so £20 seems quite bargainsome.

Boo the hello kitty popcorn maker is sold out. DD would have loved it!

Our toot toot was bought for my almost 5yo from his birthday last year. He plays with it loads and so does his 2yo sister.
I managed to get some off facebook at the beginning of the summer holidays and we filled the downstairs floor with it. All my kids played with it that day, they're 14,11,8,4 &2.

I really like the look of these DIY letter lights, they are £5 and I think you get free delivery if you order is over £20 (they have lovely chocolate letters, stationery and towels too) .

Re the Red mag subscription...I'm tempted now I've seen the free gift! Is it easy to cancel the direct debit? Do you have to wait til after the 6 months to cancel or can you do it straight away?

We have this although I did NOT pay that much for it!

Home Bargains seems to have lots of very cheap Scaletrix sets.

Having said that I bought a set as a combined present for the ds last year and it's been out of the box twice. We never did manage to get a single lap where both cars went around the lap, even on the easy mode. And that included dh trying it, who used to play it in his youth.

They were both so excited by it when they saw what it was - and have both become completely disillusioned with it.

So if you do buy it make sure you keep the receipt safely so you can exchange or return it if necessary. Mine was a bargain (albeit still £40 instead of £120 I think) but play per ££ it wasn't worth it. Regret sending dh to get pick it up - he's useless with receipts so I had no chance of returning it

Having said that I know some families who have it and love it and it plays like it does on the adverts with no problems so I don't know what makes it work for some but not others! Just wish we had a working set
