Admiral, www.red5.co.uk has a sale on with some cheap, random gadgets

SitsOnFence · 06/09/2016 09:53

Oh Vino, that's really shit timing Flowers

I picked up a copy of National Geographic's 'Real Life Bugs and Insects' magazine yesterday. It's the first issue and, for 99p, you get a very cool scorpion encased in plastic resin. I'll attempt to post a photo. DD spotted it in the shop, so not a Christmas present in this house, but would make an excellent stocking filler if you can make it to a newsagent sans-children! DD (6 yo) is fascinated by it and her 7 yo brother is very jealous.

Issue 2 is £3.99 (with a beetle) and future issues are £5.99 Shock There is also a subscription offer where you get a free giant tarantula (dead and encased in resin!!!) with your 8th issue, a free 6-month subscription to Nat Geo Kids with your 3rd issue and a free microscope with slides after your 5th issue. The total cost of getting to 8 issues would be £41 though! DD would love the microscope and tarantula, but I suspect I can pick those up cheaper separately, and with less risk of DD intercepting the post or me forgetting to cancel the subscription.

I picked up these bugs in resin for 99p in a shop called Tiger abroad but I belive they have branches in the UK, I got three for older DD stocking filler.

HTKB · 06/09/2016 10:01

And they have unicorn bedding, continuing the theme!

FeelingSmurfy · 06/09/2016 10:07

Petal7 · 06/09/2016 10:12

Sorry to hear that, Vino - what rubbish timing.

Welcome, purpleladybird - all welcome here, the more the merrier!

Thanks for all the bargains so far - got some brilliant Boden sun dresses for DD in the extra discount on clearance stuff a while back.

Am just waiting for the Knex rollercoaster to go back down - I missed it before and yesterday it was £23.99 on Amazon!

Petal7 · 06/09/2016 10:15

Ps Chips - due to a combination of a sick child and a staggered start in Reception, I wont be going to the shops for a while, but will happily look for HP slippers for you. Afraid it wont be for a couple of weeks, though.

FeelingSmurfy · 06/09/2016 10:17

Vino I'm sorry you have been put in that situation, hopefully it will lead on to bigger and better things for you

CandyMcJingles · 06/09/2016 10:20

Vino I'm sorry to hear that.

TheImprobableGirl · 06/09/2016 10:22

Almost panicked then admiral

I have the ideal present though... An egg yolk sucker-upper

TheImprobableGirl · 06/09/2016 10:24

yolk fish for £4

SitsOnFence · 06/09/2016 10:24

Thanks Humidseptember, we don't have a Tiger near us, but next time I see one I'll have to have a good look.

I've just been on eBay and found quite a selection of insect keyrings, necklaces and bracelets for around £3 with delivery. DD would really love a tarantula, if anyone sees a bargainous one (again, DEAD please, and in resin). On eBay the big ones seem to be around £20 and smaller ones from China around £10. That said, our scorpion ended up spending the night in the airing cupboard, as DD wasn't completely convinced that it wouldn't escape from its resin during the night, so perhaps not too big Grin

Hi, stopped lurking to come and say..I ordered an organised mum calender and got a voucher code for 10% off at Calender club. Code is BXS17

Wormwoodm · 06/09/2016 10:27

Joules have 25% off everything 8-11th September with the code puddle

Balletgirlmum · 06/09/2016 10:36

Thanks worm. I posted the original Calender club offer but the one I want for Ds isn't out yet & I couldn't wait for my organised mum one.

I hadn't noticed the little card with the 10% discount on- just found it in the envelope.

Balletgirlmum · 06/09/2016 10:36

Sorry that should have been thanks hallors

PolkaHeart · 06/09/2016 11:06

So sorry Vino, fingers crossed something better comes along Flowers

My Matalan order just arrived - very impressed! Will be ordering some more Christmas 3for2 bits when it's all up on the site

drspouse · 06/09/2016 11:07

Boden says it has new stuff but nothing Christmassy yes. Bah humbug.

Umlauf · 06/09/2016 11:16

I need an Octopod. Has anyone seen one? this one at Amazon is the lowest price I've seen except it only speaks French. I wonder whether DS would notice the French...

Has anyone seen a reasonably priced English Octopod? Thanks!

Just spotted the chalkboard globe mentioned by a pp on the Red5 sale for £15. It looks great!
