Evening all!

Like last year, whilst Reastie takes a well deserved break, i am taking up the flag to start a new prequel thread.

Because again finishing the last one is depressing.

So....whose got any bargains?

An update to my pp about ordering from The Present Finder, ordered some stuff in their sale (still going on), there was a problem with one of the items and their customer service was excellent.

FrancesHaHa · 04/07/2016 20:28

Dotcomgiftshop have a sale at the moment - lots of little bits which might be good for stockings.
The postage is quite expensive though.

Can anyone recommend a good app for shopping planning? I have four kids and totally lost track last year what I bought!

onesparesecond · 05/07/2016 07:23

I have an app called gift list. I quite like it but this is the first year I've used it. You can add everybody and then set a budget for each person, write ideas and tick them off. It's quite a shock to see what your total budget is once you've written everyone down though but this year I'm aiming to come in at least 10% under budget on most people's presents.
I think the app could be better but I can't quite work out how at the moment!

SideOrderofChip · 05/07/2016 07:49

Nothing beats a good spreadsheet if you have office on your computer. I use mine every year, jut add a new sheet

Not nearly as technical, but this doesn't leave my side when sorting Christmas Grin

I use the Manage Christmas App. Probably much like the others, set a total budget, budget per person and add gift ideas, then tick it when it's bought and it will keep a running total for you. Is quite an eye opener when you can see what you've spent!

woodwaj · 05/07/2016 10:13

I love a good list! So much so I used to find my mums every year to see what I was getting Grin yes I was on the naughty list!

HoggleHoggle · 05/07/2016 12:01

Oooh, I hadn't thought of a Christmas app! They sound good.

At the moment I just have a running notepad open on my phone, it does at least mean that I can add ideas as soon as I think of them. I add how much I've spent on each thing then put them in bold once someone is finished.

CustardLover · 05/07/2016 15:41

I am so excited - I am a long-time Christmas lurker but have never been able to contribute usefully before but now I have something! The UNICEF shop is having a warehouse clear out sale with lots of Christmas accoutrements - gift wrap, advent calendars, toys - at teeny tiny prices plus added feel good. I got some jigsaws, gift wrap and men's toiletries and am feeling so organised and saintly. http://shop.unicef.org.uk/Shop/SALE/Special-offers.html?siproduct=1022&utmsource=uukask&utmmmedium=email&utmcampaign=tddwarehousesale

nickdrakeslovechild · 05/07/2016 16:22

I use an excel spreadsheet to keep track of the costs (and also add a new tab each year so I can look back at what I bought the years before)

But I also started last year doing a pintrest board. So when I buy something I list it on the spreadsheet and save the image into the Christmas present pinterest board. I found last year when I was having a twitch and about to buy something else, seeing it all in pictures it looked a lot more than on a spreadsheet. It helped me anyway!

SideOrderofChip · 05/07/2016 16:55

Nick i love that idea!! I might do that now.

Can you pin stuff from amazon?

'Boxcitement' is a subscription box with stationary, jewellrey etc. Normally £20 a box or £15 if you commit to a longer term.
But they are selling a one off box reduced to £9.50, free delivery in UK. They call it a 'thankyou box' but it contains loads of different bits and pieces and you could buy it and split it up (thats what I'm doing). When I looked it has almost the same contents of their November box so decent value if you like whats in it. Also as its only one off you don't need to worry about cancellng your subscripton as there isn't one!
Includes- a necklace, pocket mirror, tea set, 4 greetings cards and a mini sharpie pen.

Great deal on toys from the 3monkeys Ebay store, 3 for 2 on lots of toys for all ages, plus they're already discounted against RRP too

nickdrakeslovechild · 05/07/2016 21:09

Yes Chips, you can pretty much pin any image. I have a pinterest logo on my task bar which is a pinterest Chrome extension but I don't know if that's only for Chromebooks ? So if an image wont let me pin it I click on that and it pins it that way IYSWIM Xmas Confused

I think this is my third year doing it this way. I do love pinterest and organise all my life with it!

SideOrderofChip · 05/07/2016 21:53

People on the previous Reastie Christmas threads have recommended the No More Socks app. I've downloaded it but not had a chance to look at it yet...

woodwaj · 06/07/2016 12:22

Scaredycat3000 · 06/07/2016 12:55

Snuggle Pets 120cm J-Animals Junior Zebra £4.45 utter bargain. Not so painful when your 3 yr old refuses to even put theirs on! We got the giraffe one for a similar price last year, very good for the price.

EllaHen · 06/07/2016 13:19

Woodwaj - thanks for that Dotcom code - it almost made up for the delivery cost. Flowers

d270r0 · 06/07/2016 14:52
