We are tryong to decide on a tree topper, last year we used dd1's school made Angel, and I can't remember what we did previously. We also have in our decorations box a star and a shop bought angel (by my dad) which neither dp or I particularly like.

We're due to put the Tree up on Thursday. Dd1 has requested we use the star but I think it should be an Angel really. Just wondering what othsr people have. Also what happens when dc make toppers in school? Do they get priority for that year? What happens if both dc make a topper?

I have an angel that I usually use but have bought a light up star for this year. Neither child has made a topper so haven't had to choose whose to use

Ancient fairy, which dates from the 1960s, and adorned our tree when I was growing up. She's very elderly, but I still get excited about getting her out of the box every year! Xmas Grin

I have a star. I think a star is most appropriate because it's reminiscent of the star of Bethlehem. My star was made by my dad in 1977. I inherited it when my mum decided to upgrade to a tasteful wire and glass bead star.

GastonsChestHair · 05/12/2015 10:26

Nothing.

I haven't found an angel or a star that I like yet!

MrsPresley · 05/12/2015 10:28

I have a flashing star, had it about 20 years, and will be devastated when it stops working!

Sgtmajormummy · 05/12/2015 10:35

One of these. Our (fake) tree has a riot of random baubles that come out every year. I put the minimum effort into dressing the tree because I know that after three days it will be ignored and left to gather dust.
Just to be put away again on 6th January.
Bah humbug!

We've got Duggee this year...

A beautiful wire and plastic crystal star.

I haven't seen a angel yet that doesn't look constipated

Floralnomad · 05/12/2015 10:47

A very blingy star , I'm not a fan of angels and beside which im an atheist so our tree / Christmas has nothing to do with religion - I'd probably stick a penguin or polar bear on the top if I was starting my decs collection now but the DC have grown up with this star and although I can throw in the odd new bauble DS insists on all the old ones going on .

We have a needle-felt troll. I am very much not a Christian and want to avoid Christian imagery. I would have liked a sun to celebrate the birth of Mithras, but have not yet found one. I find the troll matches my Scandinavian theme.

blueobsessive · 05/12/2015 10:58

We have a penguin wearing a scarf. Maybe it could be fun to involve the children in picking who / what should go up there?

Roystonv · 05/12/2015 11:01

As Snow, the angel we had on our tree as a child growing up in the 60's.

HixieRice · 05/12/2015 11:01

A star, seemed less religious than an angel but I'd never considered anything else! Can't wait for DD to make something now..

PurpleGreenAvocado · 05/12/2015 11:05

An angel. Either that or whoever has annoyed me most recently.

MagpieCursedTea · 05/12/2015 11:06

We have a star as DH thinks Angels/fairies look creepy Hmm

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/12/2015 11:09

Always a star. Amused that people don't have an angel due to the religious connotations yet have a star which relates to the Star of Bethlehem Hmm

eddiemairswife · 05/12/2015 11:09

A tinselly star which must be 50 years old, but just below is an angel in a white, lacy dress and doiley wings.

Floralnomad · 05/12/2015 11:15

My star has nothing to do with religion ,it's just a random star not the star of Bethlehem .

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/12/2015 11:16

Ah,but why do you think we have star decs at Christmas? Grin

trixymalixy · 05/12/2015 11:21

A star made of card and foil that my DH made for me 20 years ago.

Themodernuriahheep · 05/12/2015 11:40

I like a star.

But Ds insisted on us getting a large blingy Botticelli angel in crimson and gold, iyswim. And dh has now become fond of it as well.

Growing up we had 1950s rigid plastic angel

But Never a fairy.

JimmyGreavesMoustache · 05/12/2015 11:43

I'm getting an Archbishop of York

jamtartandcustard · 05/12/2015 11:52

I bought an angel from accessorize for dd's first Christmas purely because I thought she was really cute.
