Christmas morning breakfast

This might sound utterly bonkers but when I was growing up we always had pork pie, cold meats and pickle for breakfast on Christmas morning. I always wondered where this tradition came from as no one else I knew apart from my family did it. My mum was from Newcastle and my dad from Warwickshire and I never knew which one brought/continued this tradition (I'm assuming it's what one of them grew up with).

When I worked in Leicester for a while I met one other person who had pork pie for Christmas Day breakfast but everyone else has always looked at me like I'm bonkers!

So in a nut shell does anyone else have this breakfast on the big day or ever heard of others having it?

Possibly bacon butties. Or just toast/cereal. As usual. Cafetiere of coffee for me and bucks fizz too.

We eat lunch at 12:30 so don't really eat huge amounts for breakfast.

Croissant, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

Lavazzalover I'm in awe that you manage lunch so early. What time do you wake up??

I'm from Leicester, My Dad from Corby and his parents (my grandparents) from Scotland... so it seems a far wider thing!? We also had pork pie for breakfast on Xmas morning!

Growing up in Yorkshire, for our Christmas day breakfast we had ham sandwiches (honey roast cooked day before), pork pie and.... Christmas cake! Cake Xmas Smile

We're having eggs Benedict for the first time this year! (I'm not having the ham)

Not the pork pie - although that sounds good. But cold meats and pickles for sure. My mum used to press cooked chicken, duck and rabbit. It was delicious and my brother and I called it 'chuckit'... 😁

Croissants or pain au chocolat.
