Cookie when I had a newborn I got DH to do the wrapping. It was terrible but I had a good excuse.
Tips - TK Maxx sometimes have fab tissue paper and the paper washti tape is far quicker than normal sellotape - just tear it. Loads of it on amazon.

There is an elf on build a bear. Last year sainsburys had a rip off version too for around £5 or £10. That was much later in the year.

Not really a Christmas bargain more of a back to school one but Home Bargains have Smash lunch bags for £3.99. Tesco and Amazon have these for £8-£10. They are the ones with a drink bottle on the side and have quite a few designs to choose from.

Clintons cards had a very cute elf last year too. I sent dh to get it - unfortunately he came back with a different one that he thought was even cuter but it most certainly wasn't and was twice the price so we now have that one instead

Not dirt cheap - but a lot less than new.

I got my elf from the Card Factory. In fact, they went above and beyond helping me I wanted one of each colour, but there was only one version left in my local one. A member of staff called round the other three nearest shops, finally found some and reserved them for me to pick up the next day - all for £4! Wow.
