Christmas songs that give you The Rage?

I love Christmas songs. I have a huge playlist and I'm forcing helping the DCs to learn all the words. But hearing Wizzard just gives me the utter Rage. Xmas Angry (Elsewhere I mean, it's obviously banned from the house.)

It's just shite. Even as a child I realised that the anticipation is all part of the big day. Every day?! Go do one Roy Wood.

Ah, that feels better. Go on, your turn....

There's one by Mary J Blige called Christmas in the City or something like that which plagued me as a student working in River Island. There was another one on the same tape by Destiny's Child that mentioned 'groovy underwear'. Strange.

I do like one by TLC though.

Nothing was as bad as the year I worked in Adams (the old childrenswear shop) and the mix tape was full of S Club Juniors and Hilary Duff

I have worked in retail for almost 15 years now. 15 Christmases spent in shops. CD's playing on a loop 8 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I hate ALL Christmas songs.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 21/12/2013 20:33

Oh I lie,I tolerate that Judy Garland one about having a merry little Christmas but that's about it. Grin

MelanieCheeks · 21/12/2013 20:44

That one makes me cray. Every. Single. Time

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 21/12/2013 20:53

I REALLY hate mine. It makes me irrationally angry because if I happen to hear even the tiniest bit it's stuck in my head for days.

Also, First line- 'You must never do the tango with an Eskimo.'

Second line she says, 'Oh no no, oh dear no. '

She obvious knows it's shite, why does she carry on singing?! Grin

The Christmas shoes. Do you have this God awful song over there? DO NOT GOGGLE! Horrible awful stuff.

TikkaTurkey · 21/12/2013 23:41

A few years back Ronan Keating did a cover of Fairytale of New York and took out the swearing. A fucking travesty

Whaaa?! Seriously glad I haven't heard that one, I'd be feeling murderous! Grin
You can't casually gloss over Fairytale of New York with saccharine and sanitised lyrics. The swearing in that song is relevant and part of the charm!

Any of the Cliff Richard ones, in fact any of his songs ever. I am actually scared of him, I mean really and truly actually scared of him Xmas Sad I have to leave shops immediately if any of his songs play, I wish i was joking but I'm really not

Strawberryfieldsforever1 · 22/12/2013 22:59

All I want for Christmas is me two front teeth - complete with whistling gives me the rage. Also anything at all by Cliff.

Scarletohello · 22/12/2013 23:08

I lurve all Xmas songs. Even the bad ones... :)

I love Winter's Tale by David Essex. We tend to stick to Wynton Marsalus, Lou Rawls, Harry Connick Jr and Rod (fir me) at home.
I do hate that Bruce Springsteen screech up and I've always disliked John Lennon, highly overrated altogether.
