About bbc history magazine, I'm a archaeologist and historian (phd) and I enjoy it. It has a wide variety of topics some a bit basic but still interesting and news etc. the crossword as well is really challenging. Worth noting if you take out a full years subscription you get a choice of a free book with it.

Thank you for the DVD suggestions - I will check out CEX, Poundland and Sainsbury's - I have to go RL shopping today, as I've just found out that a B&M opened up in my town without me noticing (because I've been so cocooned on here that events on the outside have passed me by!)

Oh, and I realised after posting that it's 'the twitch' I'm getting, and not the itch. It's all these new terms I'm learning, like 'being organised' and 'stress-free Xmas shopping'.

Anyhow, itch, twitch, snitch - a few timeless classics should sort it - the Tom and Jerry Nutcracker sounds good. Surely they don't manage to decapitate/set fire to/steamroller each other during the season of goodwill?

I'm looking for a mega cheap coin purse/ wallet for The Boy's stocking, has anyone seen anything? He 4 BTW.
I got some Skullcandy in ear headphones for £4.99 on eBay deals last week - they would make a good stocking filler for teens. They're green with a little skull picture on earpiece.

joymaker · 22/11/2013 09:55

Thanks a lot for the feedback re the BBC History mag Chelvis Mama1980and Ihope (and for the heads up Thanks) I'm going to get it, it's worth a punt anyway at that price. I imagine it's easy enough to cancel after the trial if need be?

Zipzap like sOODdragon I also just log into ebay.com with my .uk info and browse haven't bought anything this way yet though but have through ebay.de. Not ultra techy but could it be a cookies issue?

ApocalypseMeow · 22/11/2013 09:55

Has anyone seen any codes for dunhelm mill at all? Would like to buy my dd's a christmassy fleece blanket but don't want to pay full price!

MellowMarshmallow · 22/11/2013 09:57

Amazon now price matching Argos for half price Innotab 3, but also have it in blue:

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/11/2013 10:10

scrappy I've bought my mil a taste card and have been thinking the same thing. I was going to just put it in a nice card but a little food hamper thing is a nice idea. DH got me a taste card last year and it came with a nice members book showing details of all the restaurant's you can use it at. The one I bought didn't come with that as it was a special offer I guess but I'm going to call them to see if they will send me one.

janx · 22/11/2013 10:11

My dd mentioned a board game she wanted that was advertised this morning on TV - but she couldn't remember what it was calledShock. She is 9 - something to do with escaping or blocking people - god that isn't a lot to go on

FriskyHenderson · 22/11/2013 10:15

Does any one have any insider knowledge about the Thorntons deals? Are the 12 days going to work up to a crescendo of the £100 Christmas hamper at £50 plus a 20% voucher?

TheXmasLogIn · 22/11/2013 10:24

janx could it be Labyrinth?

DrankSangriaInThePark · 22/11/2013 10:35

Re: Thorntons......now, just checked last year's Christmas spreadsheet Grin and I got the £100 hamper on 8/12. But it only had £20 off last year, so I paid £80.

I am even surprising myself at not remembering doing this, as I was convinced I'd paid 50% as usual.......I am wondering if the hamper was reduced even further after I got mine.....Angry

Thank you for Dr Who link. Tardis

changingtoaskthis · 22/11/2013 10:39

The Thorntons Christmas Hamper is ALWAYS 50% off at some point, with cash back etc.

I got my Hello Fresh box yesterday, nice food, but stingy portions no way would I want it at full price but a good deal with £20 off - I will be ordering it on DH behalf, that said, if you want to expand your cooking and are both busy working as a couple, I think even full price it may be a good deal - a pricey way to eat but new foods, good clear instructions etc.
