I always feel a bit nervous of Xmas craft threads as most people on them are very accomplished and talented! Whereas I am neither :o

So if you are attempting craft for the first time this year come and tell me about it.

This week I made a costume for DD (had to be a superhero for children in need) and I am so proud of myself as it turned out pretty good. I've always wanted to do stuff like that but am only just coming out of a several-years-long phase of hideously low motivation/self esteem etc. Am actually a bit sad to think of all the things I could have made for my young DCs if only I'd tried!

Anyway I'll stop waffling now. What are you making? My main wish is an outfit for DS - he adores Fix It Felix so I'll be hopefully making that.

Oh I never even thought of YouTube thanks

lucysmam · 22/11/2013 22:01

I've just done my online Christmas shop...got the slot I wanted this year so am happy about that, means I don't have to find someone to have the girls while I go to the big Asda while dp is at work & I don't have to fit it around the few visitors we get Grin

I bought a kids crochet kit for a quid earlier so am just going to order dd2's Innotab for her birthday & then have a crack at that again (I was sort of knitting earlier using a crochet hook and a finger Confused Hmm ).

Looked up the attic24 (I think it was that, can't scroll to check on app) tutorial & it seems easy enough to follow if I can stop doing me weird sort of knitting Grin

MuffCakes · 22/11/2013 22:12

My asda isn't going past the 13th of December yet, can't wait to book my slot!

lucysmam · 22/11/2013 22:21

Muff that's what I thought too...it doesn't show up in app. You need to log into desktop site & it should have a red box saying christmas delivery slots on the right hand side, at the top Smile

MuffCakes · 22/11/2013 22:31

No I don't have just gone on desk top site. Cannot see it anywhere :(

lucysmam · 22/11/2013 22:40

hmm, strange Confused It was on the front page of mine when I loaded it up after a tip off on the bargain thread

lucysmam · 22/11/2013 22:43

you using a phone or computer? i've just loaded up desktop on my phone & it's not on there on the phone but is on the laptop

MuffCakes · 22/11/2013 22:57

I'm on the iPad in bed Lucy will dust off the computer tomorrow thank you and thank you for the pm just in case Flowers one more job I can tick off the list

Theonlyoneiknow · 22/11/2013 23:00

Just marking place to read later :-)

lucysmam · 22/11/2013 23:08

strange not showing up on there, I thought an iPad would load up like a laptop unless you wanted to use mobile sites or apps Confused

I'm still doing my weird finger/hook knitting so giving up for tonight & will get dp's mum to show me in the morning on her crocheting when I go for dd1.

Off for the last of my beads tomorrow...looking forward to getting my efforts on the tree next Sunday!

MuffCakes · 22/11/2013 23:45

I know really strange,

Oo I'm putting my tree up next Sunday as well!

IsThatTrue · 23/11/2013 07:31

I'm not having a tree this year :( as I cba trying to stop ds2 climbing it. And we're not here for Christmas Day anyway I figure it won't be too bad. :(

lucysmam · 23/11/2013 08:33

Sad IsThatTrue. Could you put a small one somewhere out of reach?

lucysmam · 23/11/2013 08:34

Muff, Asda slots only on proper desktop (i.e. laptop/computer I assume) until 3rd so definitely dust of the laptop or there'll probably be none left Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 23/11/2013 10:49

I have an idea to run past you ladies.. If I make tiny little felt tree decorations and stuff them with cotton wool, do you think I could use a few drops of a Christmassy scented oil (cinnamon/pine/cranberry) to drop on the filling before stuffing to make them smell like Christmas?

TheOneWithTheHair · 23/11/2013 11:25

I don't see why not Titsalina. It sounds like a good idea to me. Another one I'm stealing. Grin

lucysmam · 23/11/2013 12:59

Sounds like a good idea to me as well Titsalina, might try it myself if I get round to making some other decs Smile

MuffCakes · 23/11/2013 16:07

Titsilina just an idea but if you used essence you could squirt it in again when the scent fades.

Yes I will Lucy thanks when I'm home and I get 5 minutes :/ Have already filled my trolley up in anticipation Grin

Pawan · 28/11/2013 21:36

This is the snowflake link if anyone is still looking for it - simple, but effective:

www.wikihow.com/Make-a-3D-Paper-Snowflake

We did advent crafts last year, and the dcs loved it, so planning to repeat that - one different craft each day, which tells the christmas story, and can be hung on the christmas tree

lucysmam · 28/11/2013 22:17

We're going to make a load of those over the weekend I think Pawan, have a different link with the same thing on I think. Just need to remember to pick up some paper from somewhere.

Candy canes are done (ended up with 13 though rather than 14 so going to ignore one to make an even number) to be added to the tree along with some 'real' candy canes.

Paper is cut to do paper chains too...lots and lots of them.

& I can sort of crochet a snowflake but think I might make that next years project maybe and go all snowflakey/starrey next year (forward thinking there...sorry Blush )
