A festive thread for newbie crafters!

I always feel a bit nervous of Xmas craft threads as most people on them are very accomplished and talented! Whereas I am neither :o

So if you are attempting craft for the first time this year come and tell me about it.

This week I made a costume for DD (had to be a superhero for children in need) and I am so proud of myself as it turned out pretty good. I've always wanted to do stuff like that but am only just coming out of a several-years-long phase of hideously low motivation/self esteem etc. Am actually a bit sad to think of all the things I could have made for my young DCs if only I'd tried!

Anyway I'll stop waffling now. What are you making? My main wish is an outfit for DS - he adores Fix It Felix so I'll be hopefully making that.

Oo right I've done 2 prototype button cards to show dcs but I've promised to let them help so I mustn't do anymore until the weekend.

Now to try a snowflake (from the other thread I think)

I think I might do foam printed cards this year. Did it at an art class recently and have some foam sheets lying around so maybe I'll get DD to draw a festive picture and cut it out, stick it on thick card (backwards) and print it with paint.

HandMini I will get mine out and have a look what it is in the morning for you. I've only used it for glueing fabric though (and sequins to fabric) so not sure how good it'd be for other things Smile

I was always too scared to go near glue guns when they came out at school Blush

Would maybe be a reasonably good idea though if I plan to be more crafty!

I picked up craft glue today called, erm, craft glue Hmm it's worked on the buttons and card. I wish I could work out how to get pics on my profile from my iPhone.

I can't do pics from my s3 either..
unless maybe you could load straight from the phone to the mobile site rather than the app I wonder?

Argh! My cyber Christmas crafty home!!! Grin

I am not great at craft but I do love to try Blush I am going to be making stocking for my 3 boys, the elder 2 already have one but when I told them I was doing a new one for ds3 because she's only got a 'My first Christmas' one, they decided they really wanted a homemade one too.

I am going to make a hand print wreath, and snowflakes and paper chains and felt decorations! I have my glue gun poised and ready!

lucy I use the mobile site and can't get them from my phone :( which is sad, I could possibly email them to myself and do it on the comp but that feels like a lot of effort. I'm much more likely to eat the nutella out if the jar with a spoon right now than faff with pictures!

Hmm I can get 1 pic on my profile, if I try and add more I end up with multiples of whatever I added last, oh well there's a pic of 1 of the cards on there.

oh Sad ...I really need to update my profile too but it's so much faff to actually load up the laptop when my phone is miles faster Confused . I can't work out how you can view profiles on the app either (if at all Hmm ).

Wooly I'm just going to make dp a Brew for when he gets back from work & will have a look.

I can only put on one pic at a time as well. Very annoying.

Your card is lovely. I think I may try that now.

I got a glue gun for £5 on eBay. It's exactly what you'd expect fir the price. It's small, light and works well. I'm really pleased with it.

Lovely card!

I'm now thinking of a foam print Xmas tree with buttons as baubles..?

I got many a glue gun burn as a child. TOTALLY worth it though :o

Oo yeah buttons work great as baubles, when I can be bothered later I'll put the pic of the bauble card up.
