lol has anyone seen that message on the M and S site about delivery taking longer than ususal due to exceptionally high demand

I would love an ELC code if anyone has one spare

Snowgirl1 · 07/11/2013 22:44

I was in TIGER earlier today - they had finger lights (packs of 6 for £3) for anyone who doesn't want to order from Amazon and risk getting them after Christmas. They also had cute Christmas earmuffs for £2 or £3. And Christmassy magic flannels for £2. And tape that looks like wasi(?) tape.

In Poundland I got some red felt table mats and coasters with snowflakes cut out - might be nice for anyone who's into Nordic style stuff.

cat811 · 07/11/2013 22:47

Can anyone help?
Dm would like metal measuring spoons for Christmas - i have done a google, and the only ones I can find are either hideously expensive, or look like you could buy them from Poundland...its part of her present so I'm looking to spend £5ish on them...there just seems to be so many nice ones if you go for plastic, but not much choice for metal ones!
Thanks!

cat811 re the measuring spoons - worth looking in tk maxx if you have one near you - they are good for kitchen stuff.

However - make sure when you buy them that they are narrow enough to go into herb jars for the small ones - I bought some for dh as he was getting into making curries and the recipes were all a teaspoon of this, half a teaspoon of that and whereas I would just guesstimate that panics him so I thought measuring spoons would help. He was thrilled until the first time he came to use them and they wouldn't go into the spice jars (standard schwartz/barts ones) which was a real pain. They didn't look particularly big or oddly shaped but they don't get used very much now which is a shame as they would have done if they had 'worked'.

Beforehand, I'd never thought of measuring spoons as working or not!

cat811 · 07/11/2013 23:09

Tk Maxx is a good idea....acsec they look good, but are they metal? (must be metal...Hmm) They look plastic from the pic?

ColdCadence · 07/11/2013 23:24

Could anyone recommend nice bargain warm dressing gowns for boys please

Coveredinweetabix · 07/11/2013 23:32

I've just bought a load of Lego bits from Amazon (seem to be quite a few bargains there at the moment) and a few bits from M&S and I think that that might be all children's birthday presents done until the end of Jan (15 inc a couple of invite-the-whole-class type parties DD has) and all Christmas presents for any children we buy for.
Now I've just got to think about the adults, well, wait to hear their suggestions really!

Flatasawitchestit · 07/11/2013 23:46

Telco had their coffee machines half price tonight. You know the posh ones!

Flatasawitchestit · 07/11/2013 23:46

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 07/11/2013 23:52

Coveredinweetabix · 08/11/2013 00:01

The Wow rescue helicopter is down to £6.66 from £16.99. Just bought one if those and another Lego set for a child I forgot about and that is all children done.

Is anyone else nervous that there will be amazing Black Friday deals and there'll just not be a need to even look due to having already bought everything.

Spooky - I'd get your DS one of the all in one non fleece lined waterproofs as then he can wear it in the rain all year around rather than just on cold days. I think you mentioned he's not yet one so I'd go for 18-24mths (or poss 2-3) as then there will be plenty of room to do layers underneath. As both the arms & legs have elasticated cuffs, it doesn't matter if it's too big as it just scrunched up rather than hang down too far.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/11/2013 06:42

Thanks coveredinweetabix he's still in 3-6 month clothes atm Grin so I was going to get 9-12, maybe 12-18 will be better?

shelley72 · 08/11/2013 07:13

For star wars Lego fans Jabba's sail barge down to £66·66 today sail barge

shelley72 · 08/11/2013 07:13

Sorry that is an Amazon link..

TooWetToWoo · 08/11/2013 07:14

LeapFrog My Pal Violet down to £13.33 on Amazon and My Pal Scout down to £11.99 these are great toys for toddlers, I have one of each for my LOs and bought one for a friends baby's birthday recently. They all love them, especially as you can customise it (will need a laptop) so it says their name.

TooWetToWoo · 08/11/2013 07:19

If you have a lot of selection boxes to buy, it may be better to get them in bulk. Home Bargains (still feels so wrong not putting Home And Bargain! Grin ) do some good bulk buys and I'm sure you can get them delivered free to pick up in store. bulk buy chocolates
