marking my place... thanks all great thread

craftynclothy · 22/10/2012 09:10

crikeybadger You are in trouble. I need to buy those Pacman soaps for dh. He's getting a bit of a retro gaming themed Xmas Grin and they're perfect.

kateecass · 22/10/2012 09:19

These are the first bargains I've found.

DS had the Lego Star Wars advent calendar last year and both he and DH loved seeing what was in it. This year my DD will be getting the Lego Friends one too. I know its expensive but it is great bribery for them to get up and dressed in the am!

Cheapest I have found them both is in Smyths. £19.99 for the Lego star wars one and £17.99 for the friends one

I put this £5 don't buzz the wire game to make it over £40 for free next day delivery. Would be really good for young children to develop muscles in their hands for writing.

MooseyMoo · 22/10/2012 09:19

Whittards have a few mugs half price. Like this blue stars mug for £3

Also 20% off coffee (code in reastie's first post), 20% off if first order with FIRST20. And 15% cash back with quidco.

MooseyMoo · 22/10/2012 09:22

Pot pourri for £2 from John Lewis. There are a couple of others for £3.50

zipzap · 22/10/2012 09:56

craftynclothy there were lots of pacman themed bits in the sainsburys Christmas stuff...

craftynclothy · 22/10/2012 10:10

zipzap I saw those the other week but I think most were very similar to stuff I'd already got.

In case anyone else is looking for stocking fillers for geeks:
Wilkinsons have pacman/space invaders stress balls @ £3, Dad's beer glass @ £2, Smart phone gloves @ £3 and various other stocking filler type gifts
IWOOT 2 mugs for £12 and 10% off with code IWOOTSAVOCT (delivery is free too)
Dandy Candy have retro gaming sweets

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood · 22/10/2012 10:43

house of fraser has a really good sale on link is to toys, but they have some good stuff in the adults section too!

crikeybadger · 22/10/2012 10:46

Grin @crafty!

Now, the lego soaps were on the facebook page ....

Think I might have to be asking Mrs Pampered Pantry for some commission. Grin

Fairyjen · 22/10/2012 11:10

Please help!!!! Need ideas for ds stocking, will be 6 months at xmas

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 22/10/2012 11:21

Fairyjen what about things like teethers, book, stacking cups, socks, christmas bib, vests and toy keys / little phone?

zipzap · 22/10/2012 11:29

These could be a good stocking filler if you have kids that need to have key rings on their book bags etc - lego key rings with their names engraved on them... £3.50 each, think it's free delivery on orders over £10.

www.labels4kids.com/product/73/lego_brick_personalised_key_rings

zipzap · 22/10/2012 11:32

fairyjen - they often like the box or the paper most at that age so you could get away with wrapping up some stuff he already has Grin

Or wrapping up a series of boxes getting bigger and bigger just for the fun of unwrapping?

ShoopShoop · 22/10/2012 11:32

fairy - my DD was that age last Christmas. We hardly bought her anything as I knew she was going to be so spoilt by the grandparents! We bought her clothes in the next size up and just wrapped up a few small toys like stacking cups, a few books and a bath toy. I know it sounds mean, but DD now has more toys than she knows what to do with, and we're seriously running out of space to store them!

Fairyjen · 22/10/2012 11:43

That was my thought. We not getting him many presents as such but dd ( who is 5) will wonder why Santa has not bought him a stocking!

Thanks to you lot by the way dd has far too much!

< ponders flouncing but can't resist a bargain! >

DoubleYew · 22/10/2012 11:43

Same as Shoop.

DoubleYew · 22/10/2012 11:45

Chocolate that you and dd can 'help' her eat.

NumTum7 · 22/10/2012 11:53

Thanks for the heads up ZipZap - Playmobil post arrived for DS this morning so have intercepted the DVD while he is at school!! Grin

MistressIggi · 22/10/2012 11:55

Fairyjen, I'll have a 7 month old and a 5 year old at Christmas, so almost the same. Have got ds2 a jumperoo but he is getting it early so can get full use of it. Things that drop balls quite fun for babies who can sit up, I think.

BerryLellow · 22/10/2012 12:00

My goodness, I'm struggling to keep up with these threads!

Thanks everyone, some really helpful links :)

flatmouse · 22/10/2012 12:11

Don't forget to check balance on nectar/boots/etc points in case you can use them - i had enough nectar points to buy DS a kindle for Christmas! That's what i call a bargain :)
