Do not post yet. Do not. Sit on your hands, ladies.

that is a brilliant tip Re freezing mince pies, usually im making in a panic on xmas eve so ill def give this a go. Will need to clear freezer first tho. I like doing my own sausage rolls too, think this would work on them too? And any poncetastic ideas for making sausage rolls poncey gratefully received :)

Wolfcub · 09/10/2012 09:57

I do sausage rolls and freeze them raw. I cook sausage rolls and mince pies from frozen.

LurkingPrincessLurkio · 09/10/2012 11:49

Thanks Lord maybe a fleecy cover would be the best idea I'll have a look into it

Waitingforastartofall · 09/10/2012 11:51

Am in the process of stitching christmas stockings, ive never sown before so its a learning curve. doing a few practice ones before i do the christmas eve real deals!

Zeeky · 09/10/2012 12:35

How's this for poncetasticness - just made Strawberry Glam as presents (strawberry jam with tiny edible gold stars floating through it!) Grin

LurkingPrincessLurkio · 09/10/2012 15:00

Ooh Zeeky strawberry glam sounds fab! Where do you get the stars from? Hmm wonder what I can add them too?

TigerFeet · 09/10/2012 15:27

I have bought a shedload of mugs and assorted toothrotting ingredients today to make snowman soup for, well, pretty much every child I know Grin

SO, does anyone know about sweets in gin? Would something like jellybeans work?

zinaida · 09/10/2012 17:36

Really skint this year. Any ideas for cheap Christmas " experiences", for lack of a better word? Baby will be 7mo and will be hosting both my divorced parents for 1st time in 20 years, plus ILs so no pressure! No money for presents but hoping to make it really fun-already own Xmas DVDs, boardgames and some candles.

Read a lovely idea on pinterest- use a plain tablecloth and at end of meal pass round fabric pen for everyone to record their most memorable part of the day/blessings etc, then add to it every year, would be a lovely new tradition IMO.

Zeeky · 09/10/2012 17:50

Lurkio I think I got the stars from Lakeland. They are the sort you can add to drinks or sprinkle on cakes etc. I'm hoping that our bodies digest them, otherwise we will be having starry poo - the ultimate Christmas ponciness Shock

TwllBach · 09/10/2012 18:12

I have a poncey question Grin

I am going to take the plunge and order myself some trees for outside. I am going to use the Next website - do I want a pair of bay, olive or holly trees?

MrsTwinks · 09/10/2012 18:19

zeeky the stars don't, they come out intact. As we discovered last year with our pies when stepdad was eating them while in hospital. he has colon cancer, so they were checking " ahem" for blood... They found glitter and stars instead!!! GrinBlush

LurkingPrincessLurkio · 09/10/2012 20:06

Zeeky that has got to be ultimate ponciness! Ha starry poo!

MrsTwinks that's one way to cheer up a bad situation I suppose!

MrsTwinks · 09/10/2012 20:43

suppose it was, the nurses found it hysterical thats for sure.

hurricanewyn · 09/10/2012 21:57

Zinaida - what about making decorations/displays from dried oranges, cinnamon sticks and star anise? Google has loads of ideas and they look lovely. Get the spices from an indian supermarket too - much cheaper.

Gather holly & berries from outside for decorations.

Salt dough tree ornaments too.

FredWorms · 09/10/2012 23:11

TwllBach, you want Bay imo.

Looks fabulous all year and you can cook with it!

I'll bet you can find a better deal than Next though. This is real trees we're talking about, right?

FredWorms · 09/10/2012 23:14

Bay trees here

FredWorms · 09/10/2012 23:15

Those are taller than the Next ones too! Just look for lollipop bay. Smile

Wolfcub · 10/10/2012 10:06

we used treesbypost to send a bay tree to my mother in law. Three years later and it is still going strong.

LFCisTarkaDahl · 10/10/2012 10:23

Today is the day I start making stuff.

I'm making a plaster of paris covered wreath - so basically an ethereal white wreath. I'm also doing an autumn one just for the back door.

Also china baked clay hearts in white with Joy/Noel/Peace on them

And I have antique Irish linen napkins (3 sets, went mad on Ebay Blush) to stencil NOEL on them in silver fabric paint.

I will post pictures later if anyone is interested - one day I will figure out how to do a blog or pinterest or summat.

LordFlasheart · 10/10/2012 10:33

Heres my Chrismas Pinterest Board- am collecting ideas/inspiration so if you want to have a look- or add me feel free Grin

linky

TigerFeet · 10/10/2012 16:19

Ooh pinterest, not been on there for ages. May just mosey on over and have a wee look.

I meant to get some kilner jars today for making flavoured booze but got waylaid. Will have to get some tomorrow, a nice man in an Asda van is bringing me a shitload of a small amount of vodka he will think I'm an alky for sure

CharminglyOdd · 10/10/2012 16:49

Have just bought the Cath Kidson book with my first wages Grin It's our first Christmas in our new house and I'm hosting for my family. We will have very little furniture so I need to make lots of decorations and I have a minefield of dietary requirements to wade through.

DM wants me to do an Ocado delivery (there is no Waitrose near me for our annual Christmas Waitrose poncery - our only visit every year). Not done one before - are they any good, are they expensive and what should I definitely buy please?

VoldemortsNipple · 10/10/2012 17:05

lordflashheart I've just followed you. I have a question. Do you have a fetish with mushrooms? :o

TigerFeet · 10/10/2012 17:39

lordflasheart I've followed you, and pinched some of your pins

I feel a wasted evening coming on :o

TwllBach · 10/10/2012 18:08

Yay! Thank you for the bay tree link GrinGrin
