Xmas Grin
OP posts:
molepom · 28/08/2012 09:53

Bored.

Been online shopping and having to cancel the order at the last minute. I can't justify buying any more decorations.

I am trying to find though 1 thing which I saw last year and havn't seen it since.

I think it was either ebay or amazon...a red, metal, christmas village which held tea lights. I can't find them anywhere...will anyone else have a go?

MamaPizza · 17/10/2012 07:18

EEEEEEK!

Not long to go! I am getting really giddy now, can't wait Grin

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 17/10/2012 10:36

mamapizza oh hurrah!!! I've found you Smile

It's me Peanut, was asking molepom if she'd seen you around.

How are you?

Where's mrsDB?

Is it time for a new thread yet?

MamaPizza · 17/10/2012 17:13

Hello peanuts! Wahey! Smile

I'm fine, thanks. Working full-time again, got shit loads of money to spend this Christmas Grin Grin Grin It's going to be friggin awesome! Real tree for the first time, and the rest. So can't wait.

Haven't seen MrsDB around.

Dunno, shouldn't we just stick to this? And one of us updates every morning as in 60 days to go or whatever it is. Just checking, today is 68 days!!!

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 17/10/2012 18:12

Yes and start counting down threads in dec?

Congrats on working full time again Smile

I can't stop spending, every day I'm off I think " oh I'll just have a look" and come back with Christmas gifts.

I'm now off the main days of Christmas as temp moving to a management position.....wahooooo!

My name is usually ChestyNut now.

MamaPizza · 17/10/2012 20:04

ChestyNut roasting on an open fire Grin

Counting down in Dec separately sounds fab. Don't want to clutter up the boards. Yet. ;)

Cool for having Christmas off.

I think I got all of DSs gifts already, although I know he will get even more. ELC had a fab sale not long ago, got some real bargains.

As I am so much in the Christmas spirit I have already annoyed new collagues at work and we are going to have a tutor group best Christmassy decorated room competition in December. Can't wait to get my form get it all pretty and festive. Have already browsed catalogues and I am going to get some pretty wooden ornaments that they can paint in form time, some window decorations that they can create and they can cut out stars and I'll get a tree and so much more I got planned. Can we skip November? Pretty please. I want it to be December NOW!

BollocksToKarma · 17/10/2012 20:53

Hello my darlings! I was wondering where you all got to.

I bought another 3 decorations the other day, I'm getting far too impatient now.

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 17/10/2012 21:40

Yay it really feels like Christmas now just need mrsdb!

I am sooo stuck on what to get DB....heeeelp me?

MamaPizza · 18/10/2012 16:31

How old is DB? What does he like?

I really, really, really want to skip November. What a pointless month.

BollocksToKarma · 18/10/2012 16:42

Novemeber has bonfire night and it's the run up to December, not a pointless month at all. That's when most of my last second shopping gets done.

Chesty, we need an idea of what he likes...quirky stuff? what's his sense of humour?

MamaPizza · 18/10/2012 19:10

Nah, don't like bonfire night, scares my dog. Last second shopping, ha ha. That's funny.

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 18/10/2012 20:55

Hello...pesky work interfering with my MNing.

He's 27 and likes Xbox his car, the gym, films, family guy, dexter, clothes etc.
Am stuck and I usually buy him loads!

My dog also hates bonfire night, going to get him one of those plug ins to start soon. Fireworks last a month around here Hmm

MamaPizza · 20/10/2012 12:29

That sounds too easy, Chesty. You could virtually get anything fro him. I can see why you usally buy him loads. Maybe a new Xbox game? Something like that would probably go down well. And a family guy DVD? Dunno.

Just got DHs first presents. Lidl has some tools on sale at the moment and I saw him drooling over them the other day when he looked at their magazine. Bought, hidden, done.

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 20/10/2012 23:52

Has all the family guys. Has already preordered the two games he wanted and paid for them. Has an I pod.

More ideas please Grin

MamaPizza · 21/10/2012 08:48

Itunes voucher?

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 21/10/2012 09:30

Ive told him he has to write a wish list or else he's getting a Barbie! Grin

Thinking about the Christmas tree already. Do you put tinsel on yours?
Mine is a fibre optic and normally just has hanging decorations but looks a bit sparse? Do you just wrap it round the tree or go randomly branch to branch?!

MamaPizza · 23/10/2012 06:23

Lol at Barbie Grin

My tree always has OCD. I pick a colour / theme every year and go with it. Not a fan of tinsel, just baubles, ribbons and white lights. Sometimes a pearly garland that goes all around. My favourite this far was my white and silver theme. Looked lush.

This year, due to finally working full-time again, I'm getting my first real tree. Am thinking of nordic style, but so far I haven't found much in the shops for it. Need to search the net.

MamaPizza · 25/10/2012 17:12

2 months Grin

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 25/10/2012 17:50

[hgrin]

Hurrah!

Am going to do a big amazon Christmas shop tommorow, can't wait!

Molepom · 25/10/2012 21:10

First Real tree?

Then you need this website.

I recommend the Fraiser Fir. If you want the tree that you get in the American movies, this is the one you need. I got one last year, although quite expensive it is worth every single penny. Even my neighbour had a good look at it after I threw it out at the end of Jan and couldn't believe how well it's lasted.

I've ordered mine yesterday. Get the 7-8ft one...then cut a litttle off the top. It then becomes the perfect tree. Nicely shaped, needles are soft and dont fall that much and it smells great.

MamaPizza · 26/10/2012 06:15

My Elf on the shelf arrived via Amazon yesterday. He is so cute!

Mole, I live right by a huge forest area (one of those areas of outstanding natural beauty) and they sell trees. Will go there firstly and see if they have those Fraiser Fir, they look gorgeous! So we can hand-pick our tree. Exciting!

Last day at school today, hooray!!!

Molepom · 26/10/2012 08:17

DS has now finished for the half term, DD has her last day today....then we are on the home straight baby! When the real work begins.

I just need a couple more bits for DD, then the stocking fillers, something for mum and that's it.

I've wrapped everything I have already and hidden it. The tree is on order, decorations are being bought out today to see what needs replacing ie.dried fruit on the mantle thingy and swags..etc.

If I get DD a chocolate making kit for her Birthday then that the inlaws presents sorted out as she can make chocolates for them.

I've already got my advent candles out. I dont have the heart to put them away.

The mincemeat if festering away nicely ready for the pies. Kids have gloves and hats and stuff ready for the winter.

I've picked a recipie for the ham they want for the main meal...I need halloween and bonfire night over with.

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 26/10/2012 13:45

Cor mole you are super organised [henvy]

MamaPizza · 27/10/2012 20:30

She started in January, that's why she is organized Grin

I haven't even started on stocking yet! Got main presents, but not all those little bits and bobs that really make it.

Anyway, PapaPizza loves your frasier fir tree and we are going to order one too. Checked at my local place and they just got boring ones. So, you say to get a bigger one and trim the top? Is it necessary?

ChestyNutterStaringInTheWindow · 27/10/2012 20:33

I'm nearly all done! In October Shock

Just a few things left to get.

Am thrilled that as I've temporarily changed jobs im off all Christmas.
Found a lovely soup to cook for boxing day.
