I like the idea of brown paper and pretty ribbons. That would look lovely.

We got a field nearby too, but they only sell pine and I really want the Fraser Fir again, it was lovely. So full and big, it's like in the American movies.

Anyway, I can smugly proudly say that I have completed my Christmas shopping. Been to town, got loads of stocking fillers, everything online ordered, even found a guitar shop and they are getting me the exact guitar that I wanted in, so all I have to do is pick it up next week. Yay :D

MamaPizza · 31/10/2013 21:27

Whoops, what happened there? Didn't see your message Chesty.

Red is definitely a good contender, but silver with cream walls? needs to call the house doctor

farrowandbawl · 01/11/2013 14:39

Hello everyone.

Mrs, Give me a few days and I'll get one of the CW tablets out and have a look. I'm not sure how good they'll be.

Hurry up with those lists! Grin

Glad to hear the storm wasnt too bad for you Seven, that lady had a lucky escape it seems. I recommend Arther Chrsitmas for a good Christmas DVD.

giraffe I always end up doing patch up jobs towards the end too, I never get enough paper. I'll might have to get another pack just to make sure this year.

Mama Glad to hear you've been busy with work, it was a different story for you this time last year.

Get out your decorations and let us know what colours you have - I'm sure between us all we can think of a few themes.

I miss stocking fillers - I might do one this year...but then again....I don't know yet.

My tree is coming on the 26th of Novemeber but won't be up for a couple of days as there's a couple of things that will need doing first. Mama, if you mention my name when you order your tree, we will both be put in a raffle where we could both win a tree every year for life. PM me when you do it and I'll give you my real name.

Seven, I would love to go and Pick out my own tree but I cant drive and have no way of getting it back. They have been brilliant for the past two years though. The brown paper idea sounds lovely...I'll have to remember that when I run out of paper again.

I can't believe I'm not finished yet, I'm usually done by now Sad...mind you, there's only DD to buy for really...and the two main presents. Urgh.

Silver and cream are fine , most of my decorations are clear, white, silver or cream. With the odd bit of red and gold and wood thrown in.

Well. I'm pissed off. My dryer has develpoed a fault and I can't figure out what it is. I thought it was the PCB so ordered a new one but that's not it, so it may be the thermastats...easy enough, but just didn't want to spend the money. If it's not those then I'm going to have to call out for an engineer as I'll be stumped...I've checked everything.

I've broken one of my candle holders, so that's another one that needs replacing and more expense.

My boiler deveolped a small leak, but the heating engineers from Gloworm wouldn't touch it until it's fixed, I thought that was their job..you know...as heating engineers for boilers...but no. So I've had to call a local plumber. Turns out he's actually a heating engineer, found the fault, replaced the washer and only charged me £45 for it..AND....he'll service it for £50. He now has a new regular customer. Grin
Oh, and I broke my vase today when the iron fell on it in the cupboard...I only got that earlier in the year as well. Hurmph.

So all in all nothing major. Lucky really. Thanks to it being Halloween last night we went out to avoid it all (autistic ds hates it and it scares him) so went to Pizza hut as a treat for dd (cheeseburger pizza..it was quite nice really!) and then we saw Cloudy With Meatballs 2....OMG..it's brilliant. We're going to the circus on Saturday after picking up half price tickets and while we are out and about, calling in at the pub that's cose to there to see if they are doing a fireworks display (must remember ear defenders)..so we may do that on Monday.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend?

farrowandbawl · 01/11/2013 14:49

mama

Quote EB13 for a 5% discount. It's until the 9th of Novemember.

farrowandbawl · 01/11/2013 14:49

oh and it has to be in capitals x

LentilAsAnyFUCKERthing · 01/11/2013 16:12

A month til advent! Eek. I am not ready at all. Feeling so up in the air not knowing if or when we will be moving. I so hope we will be moved, because the boxes are all stacked up high here, and it will be such a chore unpacking for Xmas, to have to repack when we move, plus there is so little room in general.

MrsVamos · 01/11/2013 23:49

Evening All.

farrow Well, I bit the bullet and ordered x2 Hudls this morning.

Haven't decided whether to get one myself yet, I might wait, as I have a feeling that after a laptop the screen being so small and having to touch type will get on my nerves ! If I get a chance I might have a play on one in a shop somewhere. Very interested to know what you think about the CW one, although offer ends tomorrow.

Seems like a tablet is the thing to buy this year, suddenly they are all coming down in price. Argos have a few good deals, and they have the bigger 9 (or is it 10 inch ?) Nooks....we'll see !

Haven't started lists yet, I really must. Blush

Still haven't decided about a tree.

I have time !

ChestyCoffin · 02/11/2013 09:20

mama I like the silver and red idea with your cream walls my friend had it and does look nice.
Glad that your busy working IYSWIM
Looking forward to Elfy blog Grin

farrow cheeseburger pizza sounds yummy!
Glad the dryers sorted.

Had the most ridiculous palaver yesterday which ended in being told that although our shed roof had been removed by landlords contractors, they wouldn't send anyone for two weeks to replace the roof?!

It rained....heavily yesterday!

Several irate phone calls later and a chap is here putting up temporary covering.

lentil fingers crossed you get some news soon and are settled for christmas.

mrs only 53 sleeps Grin

I'm going to a garden centre today to look at christmas things, I think they have real reindeers too!

That's if the roof guy ever finishes......

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 02/11/2013 11:09

Christmas movies have arrived. Is it too early?

ChestyCoffin · 02/11/2013 11:22

No....what's on seven?

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 02/11/2013 11:37

The ones I ordered from Amazon, sorry chesty.

ChestyCoffin · 02/11/2013 16:43

What did you get?

farrowandbawl · 02/11/2013 17:36

Oooh, what film's did you get?

Hi Chesty, hows things?

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 02/11/2013 18:14

All of the Home Alone films, Elf, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and How the grinch stole Christmas. Also want to order Arthur Clause and The Snowman for the DCs, it isn't Christmas without the snowman. Last year channel 4 only showed the new one and it was after their bedtime, I'm sure it used to be on much earlier.

Just need to decide which one to watch tonight.

ChestyCoffin · 02/11/2013 18:24

They'll keep you busy for a while seven Grin

Am ok farrow were hiding from the fireworks Hmm
How was the circus?
Had a nice day with DM looking round christmas stuff at garden centre.

They had the yankee candle advent in! Lots bigger than I thought.

farrowandbawl · 02/11/2013 18:33

Seven - that's sounds like a great collection.

We're hiding from the fireworks too Chesty - bellend neighbour has been setting them off for the past hour, plus he's lit his weeky fire of household rubbish, I can smell the plastic burning from the living room. Tosser. It's throwing it down here and that still hasn't stopped him.

The Circus was brilliant thanks. Really good fun. The kids enjoyed it as well.

farrowandbawl · 02/11/2013 18:34

Did you buy the advent calendar Chesty? If not, why not?

farrowandbawl · 02/11/2013 19:22

Chesty, I forgot to ask, how's your dog doing with all this noise?

ChestyCoffin · 02/11/2013 20:09

ChestyDog currently In His cage quivering. We've got curtains closed and xfactor on LOUD!

Didn't buy advent calender as its my birthday at start of dec and at work we all put money in and buy a gift. You have to list ideas and that was one of mine so daren't buy it incase they have.

LentilAsAnything · 02/11/2013 21:33

Thanks, Chesty. Here's hoping.

Had a successful shop today, got some real bargains thanks to Toys R Us doing price match and then the £15 voucher for spending £100. Plus it feels good to have made a dent in our To Get list for DS.

Looking forward to Xmas films. We have Netflix, yay.

MamaPizza · 03/11/2013 09:06

52 sleeps Grin

Farrow, thanks. I need to check if any money is left after spending so much on toys naughty me and will see if I can afford ordering the tree before DHs payday on the 15th.

Hope Chestydog is better today. We were out last night and dogs were fine which suprised us. Snoozing upon our return.

Off to Ikea later to spend more money finish off DSs toy storage.

Oh yes, forgot. Colour scheme. I went into the garage and I have the following colours ready as sets:
black
silver / white
blue
red
gold
colourful tat (won't use them again)
and then the nordic set.

I like my silver a few years back, do you really think it won't clash too much with cream? Fretting over silly things I know... Or go really traditional red and gold? Didn't have this for about 6 years.

MamaPizza · 03/11/2013 09:11

Quick look at old pics:
2009 was silver and black
2010 was red and gold
2011 was colourful (purple / turquoise / teal etc., was nice but not again)
2012 nordic

MamaPizza · 03/11/2013 09:25

Just looking on German ebay. I LOVE those:

brown baubles

pretty

So, would brown / gold maybe wooden work together?

farrowandbawl · 03/11/2013 09:30

Black and gold!

Debenhams and Next have some beautiful black and gold decorations in that would tie in nicely with the ones you already have.
