Hi, I am really struggling to think, and as I am stuck in with no car till the end of August, christmas is the only thing making me smile atm Grin
What main present are you getting for your dc and how old are they? :)

No offence taken. The emoticons on here are a bit organic, and change over time. Explaining Bear is always fun.

People tend to Biscuit on some of the threads as a no comment for those threads so outlandish, there are literally no words.

eg

AIBU to breast feed my Goldfish??

Biscuit

is shorthand for
you are a troll
wtf?
or
no comment (on account you are a freak)

My 2DDs get their Christmas presents (main ones from us) in the summer so they had them about 10 days ago...

DD1 (aged 4.11) got a bike - was riding it within 30 minutes, no stabilisers as she got a pedal bike when she was 3.

DD2 (aged 2.7) got an Iscoot scooter.

We get them their main presents in the summer as then we have time to use them and it justifies getting something 'big' in the summer. DD1 is a September birthday but DD2 is a Christmas Eve baby so this way she gets presents twice a year. They know these are their main Christmas gifts from us - but there is no set date and we do not wrap the gifts. They do get a say in what they want and get to come with us and choose them - if applicable.

On Christmas Day they will get stockings (from Santa) and we will get them each 2 gifts from Argos (in the 2 for £15 deal). They get plenty of stuff from friends and relatives that they do not miss out this way.

They might argue against it when they are older - but until then, this is the way we do it.

Dd1 (12 at Christmas) wants a Blackberry. I hate them and am trying to dissuade her but know that I will fail, spectacularly am having problems.

Dd2 (almost 9 at Christmas) wants an iPod touch, an electronic keyboard and notebook. So not much then ...
Disclaimer: She won't be getting all of them

Dd3 (4 and a half at Christmas) hasn't got a clue what she wants so I'm completely open to suggestions. I will probably get her some Playmobil though as she got some for her birthday last month and loves it.

MuffinsMummy · 14/08/2011 22:51

DD1 (10 christmas eve) will probably be getting a new bike

DD2 (3) a toy kitchen

DD3 (1) no idea yet maybe playmobil

it's DD2 and DD3s birthdays this month and they are getting playmobil play park, playmobil noahs ark, a toy tea trolley, a baby laptop and a trampoline (not all from me). The problem I have is that DD3 can use the other girls stuff so I can't think what to buy her, plus she seems to prefer to play with the recycling Grin

Morning again, sorry have just seen this thread again.

I got the Hungry Hound bank from Amazon after DS found which he just about pees his pants at everytime Confused:o

I have been in the habit of buying too much for ages now so am trying to get it out of the way early so I don't have an excuse when the sales start...

CherryMonster · 18/08/2011 15:17

i have no idea at all what to get for mine!!!

ds1 (12) wants an xbox 360 (yeah right)
ds2 (10) wants a netbook (would help with his disability so am considering it, ds1 already has one and ds2 nicks it all the time)
dd1 (6) wants everything she see's (but have no idea what main to get her, the girls have quite a small bedroom and its already full)
dd2 (5) loves dinosaurs and minnie mouse so anything along that them.

LordOfTheFlies · 18/08/2011 16:30

By Christmas time my DCs will be 12 and 9.6 yo.

Last year they bought a X-Box with their Christmas money .Both paid a third then DH paid other third.
Year before was a Wii ( again they paid with Christmas money)
Year before was DS lite and DSi.
DS will get X-Box /Wii/DS games
DD has started hankering after Sylvanian Family (aaargh)

They get some clothes to bulk out the present pile.
Stocking gifts are little, inexpensive fun ones to open when they wake up.And chocolate to keep them busy.

MugglesandLuna · 19/08/2011 14:44

DS1 (10) wants a 3DS
DS2 (4) - I have no idea. He plays with very little because he has ASD so buying anything for him is a nightmare!
DD (3) is probably getting a scooter or some Duplo.

I am being very strict this year. One big present, one little present from their siblings and a stocking, plus new Pyjamas. If you see me buying anything more, shout at me :o.

We have a 'family' surprise present of New Year at Center Parcs.

MugglesandLuna · 19/08/2011 14:49

Oh and yes, I normally get a couple of bits of clothing and some books, but nothing else. If I say im buying other things you must threaten to shoot me.

twinklytroll · 19/08/2011 14:53

I do not have a clue, I will think about it around the 20th December. I would be quite shocked if my child came to me in August and told me what they wanted for Christmas.

issynoko · 19/08/2011 14:56

Usually do it all at the last minute and spend a fortune by accident but DC4 due at end of November so want to be well ahead of the game for once. Thanks for this thread to kick me up the bum.

tigerlillyd02 · 20/08/2011 18:11

I've started buying already!! Glad I'm not the only one thinking about it. Ds's bday is 30th Oct so whatever he gets between bday and xmas I make sure will last the year. I can't wait for his bday this year as he's just starting to get really bored with what he has.

I've not bought a lot yet - got my neice and nephews presents which were half the shop price on Ebay brand new - so too good an offer to refuse! And I've got my ds (who will be 2) a Thomas train set, Aquadraw and some Thomas playdoh. However, I have a list which I hope to work on over the coming weeks. I like to get it out the way so I spend Nov and Dec wrapping, putting decs up, attending parties and doing the nicer things with DS rather than worry about spending.

Some advice for you - if you do make any lists, be sure to check out Ebay! Buying brand new from there, compared to shop prices saves me about £80 in total!! I hear places like Amazon may be cheaper too although not actually looked there myself.

wfrances · 24/08/2011 16:42

ds -16- new phone
dd -15- clothes
ds -13-halo wars lego
ds 8-scooter with sparks?

worldgonecrazy · 24/08/2011 16:48

DD is getting a drum kit from us, just a toy one, not a proper adult one as she will only be (almost) 2. She will only get one main present, and then a stocking with smaller items from us and the GPs will probably contribute to the stocking too, as well as buying one main present.

Abgirl · 24/08/2011 16:50

Am thinking of a shared pressie which will be a trampoline for DSs, who will be 6 and 4yo. They want a big one, have talked about it for ages and I know it would be well used. Really can't justify the cost for only one of them.

DS1 also wants a ds, so I am going to encourage rellies to give him amazon vouchers which he can then spend on a ds if he still wants one - i want him to realise that they are expensive and not to be chucked around.

DS2 always harder to buy for as we have so much boys stuff already but he got some cars 2 lego for his birthday which he really likes so am thinking that we could also ask for the DVD and some more sets for him.

wornoutbutstillwonderful · 24/08/2011 18:25

DS1(13) laptop
DS2(7) Xboc kinnect
DS3(nearly 4) psp - I am giving in on this to stop arguments!!

TheOriginalNutcracker · 25/08/2011 19:54

Dd1 (14) - Don't know yet probably some designer something or other.
Dd2 (12) - Maybe a kindle as she gets through books like loo paper
Ds (9) - Bmx bike as his was stolen last week and Tesco were selling some off for £35.

I start mine as soon as possible as all 3 dc have nov/dec birthdays too.

Pigleychez · 05/09/2011 22:43

DD's 3 and 15mths are getting a joint main present this year. They will both play with it and whoever id give it too they would just argue over it!
I have bought a HUGE box of Happyland bits from out the paper. £50 but worth well over £200! They are going to love it!

DD1's main Santa present is a Lalaloopsy 'Silly Hair' doll- Thank you Nick Jr!

Re Scuttlebugs. DD2 is 15mths and has the red one. She is shuffling along on hers now and loves it. Hope that helps with regards to sizes.

HoHoLaughingMonster · 05/09/2011 23:43

I'm thinking for getting DD (4) some roller skates as she's been asking for some for a while.
And maybe a doctors set with bandages / plasters if such a thing exists, she's very into putting plasters and bandages on her dolls at the moment.
