... still waiting on a parcel with no idea if it's going to arrive in time!?

Dad ordered a game from tesco for ds (second most wanted item on his list of 4 items he actually is hoping for). He ordered it 8 days ago but it hasn't arrived yet. But other items I've ordered since then (not from tesco) have turned up today; including via courier as well as royal mail package.

As I haven't ordered it myself I can't chase it up to find out how/if it's coming. Dad is in New Zealand too so not so easy for him to chase it up either.

Am in south east and we've not had any snow for a couple of weeks now. Well that was true up until an hour ago and now I reckon we have an inch. So can't think why it's late other than lost or royal mail too over whelmed with back log possibly.

Don't know if I should wait a couple more days or should I just assume not coming now and run out and but it and then send parcel back if it does turn up Confused.

Anyone else in a similar position?

Waiing on dd's main present, ordered from the US (it's American Girl stuff; she's an addict and it's my fault).

It would have needed good weather... which it hasn't been lucky about. I have something for her, at least.

Am also waiting on a couple of small things for ds and dh. Luckily ds mainly wants MP3s.

Am now resigned that none will get to us though there are still several post days to go, and today's post duly arrived. Just find it less stressful to stop screaming at Donner and Blitzen.

We ordered something from John Lewis that was supposed to be delivered today (a new 32 inch telly).
It is snowing here now and we are stranded at the top of our hill as its too steep and snowy to get down.

Therefore we weren't expecting it to be delivered today, but they did. They got half way up the hill and abandoned the van and carried the TV the rest of the way. Hows that for service. I'm impressed!!

naturalbaby · 20/12/2010 16:32

wow good on john lewis! dh's present is due to arrive on thursday, am taking a chance but not up for the alternative of driving 30miles to fetch it from the store.

couriers have collected stuff i've sold on
ebay so just a waiting game now to see if they arrive with the grumpy buyers!

whatkatydidathome · 20/12/2010 16:44

really fed up with Amazon - also Royal mail no tmuch better. The milkman, the paper delivary man and Riverford can all get to our village but it seems no distribution companies,no postman etc. I know that they only use small vans to delivar to us so it is not that they cannot get big lorries out - just seems that lots of people are using the snow as an excuse not to bother. Those that do get through are all mysteriously self employed (or JL partners).

nannyl · 20/12/2010 17:02

healthyElfy · 20/12/2010 17:38

The3Bears · 20/12/2010 17:59

Im still waiting for ds's trains ordered 2 and a half weeks ago just been dispatched with royal mail :( I was waiting over a week for a cd from hmv so not holding out any hope for the trains

Marne · 20/12/2010 18:10

I'm still waiting for 3 parcels, one i kind of knew there was a chance it would not turn up (ordered at the last minute) and 2 others from Amizon which should be here on 22nd. We had heavy snow today and live in the sticks so not holding my breath.

PURPLESWAN · 20/12/2010 18:49

Waiting for 3 packages from Amazon - the first was meant to arrive on 13th and the last was due on 22nd.

Im curious to know where the Amazon stuff comes from as I have ordered stuff from two different sellers on Ebay over a week later than the Amazon and received it days ago.

We had no snow at all so Im guessing that all the Amazon stuff has been put to one side in a warehouse somewhere. I do have a gut feeling that "weather" is being used as an excuse a bit.

Fibonacci · 20/12/2010 19:31

I'm also waiting on two DVDs from Amazon - dispatched the day after ordering, by Royal Mail over a week ago - when the weather was absolutely fine. Missed DS's birthday deadline (14th) now worried they won't get here for Christmas either. And his other birthday present from John Lewis also hasn't come yet, despite them promising next-day delivery ages ago.

think it's crap actually - and still I'm getting endless spam emails from online retailers saying I can get stuff before xmas.

MrsVidic · 20/12/2010 20:01

i have lost all faith in royal mail. My new employer has been waiting 2 weeks for a referee that i know was sent out. Also after sending by recorded delivery my passport and other documents for my crb checks my passport was missing. Also i have recieved about 5 cards this year all part opened. Nightmare

Pluto · 20/12/2010 20:50

I am waiting for two items from Play.com ordered 9 days ago, one small item from the USA ordered on 1st December and 3 items from Amazon ordered 9 days ago.

I'm not too bothered though. Most of these bits were inexpensive stocking fillers and can be birthday pressies instead. It hasn't put me off online shopping; I did my big Xmas shopping in early November and it all came through without any problems. Royal Mail nowhere to be seen on our street today - and we're hardly up a mountain here. Seen John Lewis and Sainsbury delivering though.

dementedma · 20/12/2010 21:26

Debenhams saying gift dispatched on December 9th but no sign of it! Only get a recorded message when you phone them.

chatee · 20/12/2010 21:32

waiting for ds present from santa, ordered 17th Nov with ELC all the little accesories that i ordered to go with present are here(arrived separately after a few days)but no main present
am really beginning to worry now as ds still believes!
have spoken 4 times to elc customer services who are still saying it will arrive.......
stuff that i ordered beginning of december from amazon has arrived

HotchpotchHoney · 20/12/2010 21:36

I'm waiting for a gift for my mum that you cannot buy elsewhere which was despatched on 10th december a coat for dd1 that was posted first recorded two weeks ago and books for dp and my dads present.
I had to buy another coat for dd but still want the one that's not arrived. Dp and dad will understand when I jokingly put a copy of the amazon order email in ancard for them if not arrived, but my mum is not the understanding type and will either go mad or completely ignore me for the rest o the year (although that could be a good thing Wink) but it's really not worth the hassle of not getting an alternative she's so awkward to buy for and has high expectations of the value of gift that she should receive.

See... everybody MOCKED ME for buying everything in November. They called me sad, they laughed, etc.

I order everything online and the last two years have been crap in December (or has everybody forgotten about last years postal strikes?) so I'm the smug bitch who has all her presents wrapped and ready.

I am waiting on a little extra thing which i ordered last Wednesday, and I'm not sure it's going to turn up, but that's no biggy :)

Hope your stuff turns up in time :)

Breezy1985 · 21/12/2010 01:37

My last item turned up today, posted 1st class on the 7th.

My uncle posted all our gifts together 5 parcels to the same address all 1st class on the 14th, 3 arrived the next day other 2 arrived this morning....

3rdnparty · 21/12/2010 09:29

I ordered on 1st Dec from Amazon and still waiting was due on the 10th last update still not here 4 presents Xmas Hmm

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 21/12/2010 10:34

It's CityLink I'm having the problem with. I ordered some things on the 10th December, on the 14th my parcel had been dispatched from Kettering up to Durham (my nearest depot). On the 20th the parcel was received at Durham and it was supposed to be delivered that day.

I have a friend who lives on the other side of town to me who has received a CityLink delivery today so hopefully that means its on its way.

MegBusset · 21/12/2010 11:15

DS1's last present just arrived (ordered from eBay seller in Birmingham 14th, despatched 2nd class on 16th).

Still waiting for two packages for DH (Play.com and Blush Ann Summers) ordered and posted at the beginning of last week. Got his main presents already though so no worry if they're late.

NadiaWadia · 21/12/2010 11:21

Received one parcel today - 13 to go! They are not all going to get here, are they?

Book for DD to give DH which was supposed to be delivered on 16th still seems to be stuck at 'National Distribution Centre' wherever that is. Have just e-mailed Amazon on her behalf, as she's at school.

Its the new Stephen Fry book, and I've since found out they have it cheaper at Sainsbury's, so might go out and get it.

Thing is, what happens if the Amazon one turns up eventually? Don't see why we should pay to return it?

Does anyone know Amazon's policy on this?

tulippa · 21/12/2010 11:22

My mum's pressies for DC arrived this morning.

She posted them 2nd class on 7th.

wonderstuff · 21/12/2010 11:32

Just got all excited to see the postman - and got one card - not my big Amazon parcel with all the presents I ordered. Is at National distribution centre 'being ignored processed' according to tinternet. The postie came back and knocked, and gave me a parcel for next door because they're out.

I was soo smug to be organised enough to order everything off amazon Xmas Sad

HappyDaysAreHereAgain · 21/12/2010 11:34

NadiaWadis if things turn up from Amazon you can request a refund and they will send you a returns label so you can send it back to them. You can also request a refund before the parcel actually arrives, if you choose to do this then you are asked to refuse to take delivery and it will be returned to them. HTH
