I've been present-planning and was suddenly struck by the certain realisation that nobody is currently thinking about what I would like. And I realise that, actually, there's loads of stuff I'd like. For starters:

  • a really nice big mug for my morning tea
  • Molton Brown lip balm (found this when upgraded on a flight years ago and now can't use anything els, but also can't justify it as it's £10 for a tube Blush
  • both of Nigel Slater's recent books on veg and fruit. The veg one most though.
  • some boots (tricky for anyone to give these - I need to find them really)
  • some of this year's Uniqlo cashmere
  • some Tweezerman tweezers to replace some I lost 18 months ago
  • a microplane grater

Written down this doesn't sound quite as grabby as I thought it was in my head as I'm not expecting all if it by any means. I know I won't get the boots and have a back-up plan (hairdryer).

Please tell me that it's not me who has more idea what I want than what to get anyone else?!

I would like:

A new Mac laptop
Some expensive B&W headphones (unlikely)
Emma Bridewater Spot plates, bowls and mugs
Perfume if I can find one I can stand

CherryRocketMonster · 03/11/2010 09:39

queenrollo- apart from the wanting to be pregnant, i could have written your post.there isnt anything i need, and not a great deal that i want. my current list is as follows

the new john grisham book
sex and the city 2 on dvd.

thats it, cant think of anything else. ( i think a lot of it is because i dont have much room to store stuff, and have inexpensive tastes)

upahill · 03/11/2010 09:50

I'm getting this
body armour and this

I'm planning on having a full Bobby Brown make over and getting everything they suggest (as long as I look good ) Me and DH are in Manchester in December so I'm going to book it for then and he can have his debit card with him!!

For my main present I would like to do the Ray Mears Survival Course. A collegue did this a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

DinahRod · 03/11/2010 10:07

A SLR camera or Android phone (...dh is not great at buying gifts but loves a gadget and will research to find the best one for the best price.)

a day off

girlywhirly · 03/11/2010 12:44

I think it's a good idea to provide a comprehensive list of presents you would like to partners. Most hate shopping/have no idea what you would like/much less idea where to get it from/dither ineffectually around shops/ buy the wrong size etc etc. so it's more efficient to supply the details, item, size, colour, price, shop or website. Put all suggestions on a list that they can carry around, or best of all order online while drinking beer in their underpants.

My list is very small at the moment:

Terry Pratchett calendar
Green and Blacks chocolate
Slippers
Next Cashmere perfume spray
and bath foam
Fiction paperbacks (DH is a star with these, he knows what I enjoy reading better than I know myself) so which titles could be a surprise.

We tend to buy what we want/need throughout the year, so don't need anything big. We'll probably buy another two acres of endangered habitat via the World Land Trust, as we did last Christmas.

NordicPrincess · 03/11/2010 17:26
