I've been present-planning and was suddenly struck by the certain realisation that nobody is currently thinking about what I would like. And I realise that, actually, there's loads of stuff I'd like. For starters:

  • a really nice big mug for my morning tea
  • Molton Brown lip balm (found this when upgraded on a flight years ago and now can't use anything els, but also can't justify it as it's £10 for a tube Blush
  • both of Nigel Slater's recent books on veg and fruit. The veg one most though.
  • some boots (tricky for anyone to give these - I need to find them really)
  • some of this year's Uniqlo cashmere
  • some Tweezerman tweezers to replace some I lost 18 months ago
  • a microplane grater

Written down this doesn't sound quite as grabby as I thought it was in my head as I'm not expecting all if it by any means. I know I won't get the boots and have a back-up plan (hairdryer).

Please tell me that it's not me who has more idea what I want than what to get anyone else?!

24 hours without anyone shouting,

Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

5 bottles of chateauneuf du pape to fill the void...in a hotel with, my dh and a very large bed and bath, and room service!

ClaireDeLoon · 02/11/2010 21:53

A nice weekend away. A long weekend in a luxury cottage somewhere nice in Suffolk, the Lakes or Scotland etc. A cottage with a log fire. Or a lovely hotel in Paris via eurostar.

TheVenomousCrazyLadybug · 02/11/2010 21:55

My DH home from Afghanistan Sad

Failing that, Jamie Oliver book, all of the Sophie Kinsella 'Shopaholic' books, new boots.
Won't be as good though...

Borisismyhousespider · 02/11/2010 21:55

To have moved house Hmm
Failing that a car all to myself would be nice! (or a motorbike, but you can't really put small kids on those Hmm)

taffetacat · 02/11/2010 21:56

I'd like to take DS (7) to Amsterdam for a night. He is, for some reason, obsessed with Holland and I would dearly love some time on my own with him.

His little sister and DH would be most put out, so thats never going to happen either.

Rocketbird · 02/11/2010 21:59

A Kindle and some Lakeland vouchers. But I'm not going to get one 'cos we're too skint . Might get some kindling if I'm lucky... :)

A week in Gdansk ON MY OWN. Not going to happen. May manage a day in Brussels instead, but not really the same.

SkylineDrifter · 02/11/2010 22:37

I lost a diamond out of my engagement ring a couple of years ago, and I'd like to get it repaired so that I can wear it again. We got engaged in 1971 and I still feel like something's missing. I got it estimated at the time, and it was going to be about £500, but I am hoping funds will stretch that far this year.

marriednotdead · 02/11/2010 22:47

I can never usually think of anything when I'm asked so I end up with meaningless stuff

I would like and may well get-

a superlong dressing gown
books
one of those rolls for jigsaw storage
a voucher for any kind of pampering
a bottle of my favourite perfume
Joseph Joseph elevated kitchen utensils
vouchers to get clothes for myself for a change

I would love but am unlikely to get-

fashionable comfy boots that fit my skinny legs

a stress/drama free 2011

Can't have it all I guess.

Honeydragon · 02/11/2010 22:50

i want a mulberry alexa handbag and am on a hint-dropping campaign to DP at the moment. :o

queenrollo · 03/11/2010 08:41

to be pregnant.

but apart from that i have no idea. Not very helpful for DP is it? Grin

Thing is I have everything I want or need already.....I'm not really bothered about clothes or make-up, don't wear jewellery etc I'll probably give him a list of books and he'll get me some expensive chocolate.
