but i am going to withdraw my offer to help. i dont like how political this has become, and i hope that who ever does do it does a good job, because i would hate to see it fail after all this drama. thanks to all those who supported my offer, it was lovely of you all. enjoy it

I haven't a Scooby whats going on but it sound all blown out of proportion over something that isnt a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Cherry, did you get to go and see your family chick? I hope you did or are soon and it has either made you feel a bit better or will make you feel better if you havent gone yet. :)

Spikeycow - if you are referring to The Shiny Lot, then they are a group of posters who kind of stick to their own threads, you may call that a clique or whatever.....but you are wrong if you assume that those voicing concern were a part of that group.

it wasnt BOF and shiney causing the clique business no, and i would have been happy to run it with them, i did say originally that it was too big a job for one person to do alone

thanks riven, i was tempted.

unmentioned- i reckon it could be worthwile looking at, just not entirely sure how to go about it, never done anything like that before, the most volunteering i have ever done is running a stall at the school fete Blush

is it too late/in poor taste to suggest again that cherrymonster, shiney and BOF run the appeal together with support from MN Towers?

I posted on the other thread, the Mallory Towers part and wasn't going to get involved in the rest but I feel I must speak up for Cherry.

A couple of years back, tight around this time actually I was really struggling financially. A few MNetters helped out with things for DD starting back at school, and money to buy the official uniform so DD could be like all the other kids and also sent some birthday presents for her.

Cherry was one of those people, she also sent me a lovely card and letter which I still have.

There has been mention of suspicion and talk of addresses. She has my address and has never done anything odd with it, and as helping me was never known until now it wasn't done for glory, or such.

It also shows that she does just want to help those having a bad time which is lovely. I know she doesn't have it easy either. I've never forgotten hers, or anyone elses kindness.

Her enthusiasm is great, given that it is a hard job and I feel she has been treated unfairly.

I see no reason why she shouldn't be one of the people to run the appeal, though I do agree with others that it needs more than one person, but Cherry herself said that.

i still dont get all the animosity towards cherry. she volunteered, yes she was a little eager, but eager is good in these things surely? She then got a bit defensive, but i think anyone would have in the circumstances.

People kept saying they were 'suspicious' but suspicious of what exactly? Confused

mugglewump- your kind post has me in tears, i had totally forgotten about that. i knew that i had sent money to a couple of different people, and items to others, am so surprised that you remember this.

CM go back to the main thread if you still want to do it. If you, Bof and Shiney all asked at the same time last year then there's no reason you can't all do it. People have now said they know you, proving the sniping was unwarranted. Don't get down, kick some ass lady!

spikey- am not sure i could now, i think certain people would refuse to take part if i was involved, and im not sure i can deal with all the sniping, i was trying to do a good thing, and all this has kind of ruined the warm fuzzy feeling now

Of course I remember, I have kept all the cards and letters, it was such a lovely thing to do.
In fact, yours states you'd rather no one know, which is why I've never said anything, and wouldn't have, but I felt it was the right thing to do now as it shows your motives are good, and you just like to help, and there's absolutely nothing to be suspicious about.

I'm not even sure why anyone would think otherwise.Confused

I don't know why anyone would think you're a newbie either, as that was 2 years ago. I'm sure you've been here longer than I have!
