but i am going to withdraw my offer to help. i dont like how political this has become, and i hope that who ever does do it does a good job, because i would hate to see it fail after all this drama. thanks to all those who supported my offer, it was lovely of you all. enjoy it

cherry have a look at the link I posted to get you started. Everyone has to start somewhere! Also if you know of any local charities then look up their local numbers and give them a call and see if theres anything you can help with. Be prepared it may take a while for them to find something for you but in the past Ive had a potential volunteer on file and thought about how I could involved them and then arranged it - I really think volunteering is so, so, so mutually beneficial.

If you still want to try and do the Xmas appeal though then go for it but volunteering could be something you could do after it?

Good luck

I think everyone needs to calm down, have a cup of tea and a Biscuit

stayathomegardener · 23/08/2010 23:36

Ooohh I am so never going to volunteer for the Christmas appeal....

Hope this thread balances out the other cherry.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/08/2010 23:44

I hope you are OK Cherry.

ShadeofViolet · 24/08/2010 11:26

I hope you are okay Cherry - I was in such a foul mood yesterday that I feel I was a bit harsh on the other thread.

I am really sorry that I read your enthusiasm wrong.

cherrymonster · 24/08/2010 11:28

Belle - you clearly felt so sorry about it that you started another thread, linking it to the other one and telling people to read it?? Weird way of apologising??? (the 'Justine Mumsnet I'm shocked and disgusted' thread)

Cherrymonster - I hope you are OK. It kicked off a bit didn't it. I really hope you do get involved with some other non MN Christmas Appeal or vounteering work as I think you have a big heart and it would be good for you.... it must have been horrible to hear people say they didn't know you, thought it should go to a well known/long term poster etc (I'd feel the same way), but it just depends which threads you are on, how vocal you are etc etc It's really not personal, even though it seems like it is. Someone that has been around here for ages asked who Shiney was the other day - so, it goes to show that even when you are a 'Big Name' there are still people who don't know who you are....

A long winded way of saying... Sorry you were hurt by it all.

How are things with the bf??

SoupDragon · 24/08/2010 20:19

oh god, cant this just die now?

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 24/08/2010 20:22

Very sarcastic chippin. Read what was written.

ChippingIn · 24/08/2010 20:22

I've read every word of it Belle.

thefirstmrsDeVere · 24/08/2010 20:26

Anyone read any Enid Blyton recently?

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 24/08/2010 20:42

Enid Blyton's a good writer.

It's understandable that you were hurt by what was said:( Try not to dwell on it.

I'm pleased that there haven't been any more 'phone incidents' with NBF - I hope it keeps going well for you :)

musicposy · 01/09/2010 20:25

Cherry, I read the other thread, but didn't post and I wanted to say how sorry I am about your nan, and about how upsetting everything became for you.

I know what it feels like to be desperate to help in this way - I was a school governor for years and would have loved to be vice chair. I did so much for that governing body, you wouldn't believe, but the chair ran a bit of an old boys club, and basically got all his cronies in to do all the big jobs. It meant that the governing body became a nodding dog, all scared to go against the chair and in the end I left. But I still remember the disappointment when I realised I was never going to break into the in crowd.

In the end, it was healthier for me to step away and I wonder now why it meant so much. I would do what others have said and find something near you where you can be of help. PTA's always need help - and actually school governance or similar can be very rewarding. Are there any charities you support who would appreciate extra help in the run up to Christmas?

I do hope you find something that makes all this seem like water under the bridge. Take care, chicken. Wink

cherrymonster · 02/09/2010 11:01

thanks musicposy- i dont want to get involved with the school PTA or the governors, the school is far too stuck up for my liking, and i dont want to get into that. i will find something else, and am fine now thanks x
