but i am going to withdraw my offer to help. i dont like how political this has become, and i hope that who ever does do it does a good job, because i would hate to see it fail after all this drama. thanks to all those who supported my offer, it was lovely of you all. enjoy it

See this is what I mean, I wasnt rude at all

CakeandRoses · 23/08/2010 13:32

cherrymonster - the best that could be said about the thread was that it was amusing. No-one (including you) came out of it covered in glory.

I'm afraid that whilst your intentions may have been good (and I believe they were), you really didn't come across well right from your first post. It had nothing to do with the huns, the controversy around them just added to the comic effect.

It would be better for you to understand why you got people's backs up than to keep feeling like the victim.

cherrymonster · 23/08/2010 13:35

unmentioned- the fact that you said, 'your not doing it, end of.' came across as rude, you could have worded it better, like a few of my posts could have been worded better, i am struggling to get the words out at the moment

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 13:38

Because you just said in this OP youre not doing it and no amount of going over it is going to change that is it? Thats what I meant, I was trying to help with the volunteering suggestion but hey ho...

cherrymonster · 23/08/2010 13:40

see this is the thing, i cant go out and do volunteering because i need to be at home during the day because ds2 is disabled, and if school need me to go down i need to be at home because its not far from school.

cakeandroses liking your summary there-accurate and informative.Thankyou.

scratchmyback · 23/08/2010 13:42

Cherry, surely you have read more out of the other thread than to come to the conclusion that people don't want you to do it because you use the word 'hun'?

As I said last night, I have no issue with who does it, I just think you have a lot on and are stressed at the moment - it certainly comes across that way in your posts. You are taking everything the wrong way and not seeing what is written and what people's reasons are.

Unmentioned wasn't rude but you decided to say she was. You said others were having a go at you, they weren't.

I've told you already I think it is really kind of you to offer to do, but maybe your approach should've been different. I am sure your intentions are good but maybe step away now as this is just upsetting you.

It's all a bit dramatic now.

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 13:42

Our charity had volunteers who did it from home, other charities have this too. You could take some time looking into something like that, call up local charities and offer your services and explain your limitations Id be amazed if there was no-one you can help. Try smaller, local charities as well as the national ones.

scratchmyback · 23/08/2010 13:47

I agree and think you would be perfect for charity work Cherry.

no that's me, I have always been mad

sorry I misread you

just feel a bit sad for cherrymonster, she hasn't done anything wrong as far as I can see

I would be gutted if I had been treated the way she has

cherrymonster · 23/08/2010 13:49

greensleeves- i am gutted, but such is life

cakeandroses I am thinking that perhaps a thread summary service is something you should offer. You are very good at it Grin.

Don't know much about the Christmas appeal, you do seem a bit over keen about it CM but at the same time I think that you were basically shut down by the Big Girls, iyswim Wink.

Lizzylou · 23/08/2010 13:56

Cherrymonster, consider that you've had a lucky escape.
The Christmas Appeal has had so much controversy and ill feeling the past few years. I think it may now be almost defunct due to that and the size of MN now.
I think you should look into volunteering, am impressed by your enthusiasm and energy.

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 13:57

go here for volunteering ops, what do you reckon?

shimmerysilverglitter · 23/08/2010 13:58

Sorry to hear about your Nan too Sad.

I have a SN child too and I know that feeling of basically sitting around all day waiting for a phone call from the school.

spikeycow · 23/08/2010 14:00

I recognise you as a reg poster, but youre not one of that clique are you so youre doomed Grin

FallingWithStyle · 23/08/2010 14:03

Which clique?
It's not very nice what's happened but to attirbute it to a clique is wrong.

Greensleeves · 23/08/2010 14:06

I think some people are calling "clique" because shiney and BOF also offered to do it

but nowhere on the thread were they actually pulling rank or setting themselves up against cherrymonster

it all just turned into a bit of a mess

I suggested the three of them could run it together, but nobody responded to that

GooseyLoosey · 23/08/2010 14:07

I read the other thread too. I think like many people I have an innate mistrust of what appears to be excessive enthusiasm, I am not sure why this is, but suspect that it is a fairly English thing.

However, please don't take this personally, enthusiasm is a great trait and I think that my hesitancy towards it is my failing rather than yours.

Well done for volunteering, I wouldn't.

There is a clique where they are nice individually but it is starting to come across as too much now, on a few recent threads

I think I saw one person say they'd rather it was shiny and bof.

Doing it together is a great idea - would you be up for that cherry?

TheUnmentioned · 23/08/2010 14:11

I dont think it was just Shiney and BOF causing the 'clique' feeling. I think its just the general air that some people can say something and it be taken one way, someone else can say the same and be considered completely the opposite.
