Hi trace it's ds and he is 13 but we had been going to and fr Drs since he was about 3/4 for problems with direah and bleeding but at the time his asthma wax so severe they was all worried about that , no one ever connected that whilst taking high amounts of steroids that it got better

we moved here March he had massive bleed saw gp who did bloods refered to gastro team addenbrooks who were great saw in week , in within 3 days for the colonscopy

They reckon ds has had for years as bowel quite badly damaged , ds said to them he could never remember doing normal poos. He also has coealic that was undx is 5,10 and weighs just under 6 stone

Hmm is dd under a gastro dr or seeing one now .ask about colonscopjy or endscopy

roundthebend4 thank you for telling me, well today they think she is either colitus or crohns caused by some food maybe dairy or coealic dd dont eat very much by mouth but since her tonsils out other week she as tried toast with butter and quavers and watsits crisps so today had to stop all and no blood, only little mucas, they phoning her gastric doc at children's tomorrow to see what he says, but her symptoms fit , if so do they medicate for this?

trace2 - I'm sure you will be given a lot of good advice at the hospital once your dd recieves a diagnosis.

It sounds like she has been through a lot.

Coeliac's is a disease when the gut is damaged by eating wheat. Wheat can be cut totally out of the diet; even a crumb of bread can set off the disease process so wheat exclusion has to be very strict.

Crohn's is a disease that comes and goes in various severities and can be treated with medication. Crohn's can potentially effect the whole of the gut; ulcerative colitus effects just the last section of the gut.

All of these conditions will require regular follow up at the hospital consultant's clinic.

Treatments are improving all the time.

Good luck getting a diagnosis, I hope you get all the support you need.

I have been following this thread but not replied before.

I am glad your DD has been deemed well enough to come home but with no answers must be awful. You must be so worried.

How is your DD now? What is the next course of action?

Well good luck for Thursday. I hope you get somewhere with this it must be so blummin stressful.

I know I have had problems at times getting my DD (has kidney problems) seen by the right renal people when we have moved house (and health authorities). Sometimes you just get pushed from pillar to post with no answers and OMG I have been so angry frustrated in in tears.

Sending you and your DD my very best wishes and I will keep my fingers crossed that you will get some answers or at least make some progress in that direction.

Please do let us know how you get on.
