dd3 has been unwell for almost 2 weeks now. she saw a GP last saturday who said she had a virus. we went on holiday to great yarmouth on monday, and came back today. she slept 12 hours a night, and then was sleeping during the day as well.

i am getting really concerned now, as this is not like dd3 at all. she usually polishes off 2 bowls of porriage in the morning, loads of lunch and demands food all day long as is hungry. now she is eating a couple of spoonfuls of food only.

i am also not sure, but think she may have a lump on her neck. at the front, not where you usually see glands up.

not sure whether to take her back to out of hours docs tomorrow, or childrens a+e.

she isnt vomiting, or having tummy troules. but is having random high temps, which come and go.

misdee, get her a kidney scan and blood work work done. It isn't normal for a child to be complaining of a kidney pain. If it's a complication of UTI you don't want to leave it like that. Blood work to make sure everything's ok and that her immune system's fine.

Hope she'll get better quickly.

a+e paed was going to write doc to get a scan booked in. we have to GP on tuesday for follow up. will ask for full bloods to be done.
no pain today.

still tired, but a lot better. n otemperature so no calpol or neurofen needed today. i think thats because i bought a big bottle of each yesterday. fortunatly i know the pharmacist well, and told her what had happened so she sold both to me in one transaction.

Frustratingly slow for you. Do push for the blood work to be done, if anything flags up they will know so quickly.

Hope all goes well xx

i know. but last day of the hols tomorrow, and am not spending it pitched up at a+e if we can avoid it. she missed 4 days by being ill, and she wants a day out (dont blame her).

antibiotics finish on saturday. if they havent worked we will know by tuesday if the symptoms return.

thank you pixie. but the tiredness generall gets worse when her temp spikes back up, and its only been 6 weeks so far and infection is still showing in her wee samples.

picked back up. gave her some calpol and she slept for an hour this afternoon. her temp isnt as high as it has been, and she seems ok-ish. def not 100% but not as ill as before. going to monitor her overnight and decide in the morning if she needs to go back to hospital.

Glad to hear she has no damage to her kidneys. Best of luck with the paed. Is she feeling better?

misdee · 17/09/2010 13:59

not really. still very tired. but appitite is back where is was, and she does have some pain at times. but nothing like it has been. and i think some of it may be 5yr old drama-itis Wink
