Bleeding both ends

I am very lost on where to go. We are in A&E for the 3rd time in 2 weeks. On Monday DD who is 8 started to vomit coffee ground vomit, had an emergency endoscopy they found ulcers and started her on IV medicaion and admission for 3 days, went home, she had 2 days on a drip not able to eat or drink, was back on food and sent home. We lasted 48 hours at home she started vomting blood again back into hospital just spent time in a bed, had 2 bags of drips some tummy protector and anti sickness. Since then she has become so bloated. She was a child who hardly meets the weight scale for her age.

She is back in hospital tonight she is now bleeding from both ends. Her vomit has blood in it and her poo is just blood, she is just lifeless in bed she is not even moving when the doctors and nurses come to see her. She has never ever had bleeding from her bum. Google is scary

I am sorry she is still feeling bad. I hope she can have a peaceful night.

Did they do key hole surgery? They inflate you with a gas and it makes your shoulder hurt (i thought you'd do amazing trumps to get rid of the gas, was shocked it was my shoulder hurting).

Gosh OP, the poor little thing. fingers crossed the after effects of the surgery and GA disappear soon and she starts to feel more herself. Just remember to keep her well hydrated, even if she can’t or won’t eat much for the first day or two.

Oral Rehydration Solutions from most pharmacies, even ice lollies, for a change in taste and temperature, or chicken broth for some nutrients if she can tolerate them.

I really hope you have some answers and hospital are looking after her well. My goodness the presents she can ask for when home, what an amazingly brave little girl she’s been!

i read this yesterday and can’t stop thinking about you all. Hope you’re getting some answers x

She is doing much better she is out of bed since last evening, engaing on her iPad a lot more and playing with some toys but still very tired. They took lots more blood this morning and yesterday morning as well as a CT scan. They want to test her poo but she hasnt gone since surgery. She has had some mucusy blood; it still hurts to do anything on the loo. The tests are looking for inflammatory bowel disease one of her blood tests showed really high but I can't remember what they called it. Things deffo feel on the up. She is making us laugh she is such a small child with a very big belly. There is no talks of us being able to go home though

If it is IBS please be reassured that there are treatments and they are improving every day. My GDG has this and has an infusion every 3 months. It took a while to find what was right for her but she got there and leads an entirely normal life.

@AllLeft IBD,even severe IBD, is very treatable now. I'm glad she's a little brighter, I know you must be very frightened - she's in the best place and her youth will work in her favour in terms of the level of care she receives.

I beg your pardon - I did of course mean IBD. I agree about the treatments and my DGD has benefited greatly from these.

God, what a time you're all having! It's hideous. I'm glad she's perked up a bit, but you must be desperate for some concrete answers and a treatment plan. Sending you all good wishes.

She had a bleed again today from her bum, she was so upset it caught her by surpise and messed the bed they have moved her into high dependency unit, she is getting a drip for iorn, the doctor said that some of her tests are looking like it will be IBD that has caused some of Em's issues. She had such a good day before the pooing blood, she has been lathargic ever since and clung to daddys side

Poor wee mite. I would echo that if this is IBD, then treatment has come on a long way. I hope they get her feeling better soon.

Oh bless her. I have ibd and I can all remember how I was at the start. The blood and clots etc is enough to scare me for life and I was 24 when diagnosed not Young. Give her love and comfort till you know more and try and take her mind off things. You sound amazing as a parent.
